04:57Back here at the ballpark, coming off a series where they were red hot at the plate.

05:23First pitch strike right there for him.

05:25He's going to have to do that consistently if he's going to give any link to his skipper.

05:28That one finds the zone.

06:39But you have to respect the upper 90s velocity.

06:42And it is hard to catch up to.

06:49Let's check out some notable MVP candidates so far this season.

07:18Well, right now this battery is seeing the aggressiveness of the hitters early in the count and often.

07:23So, got to be real careful that you don't give too good of a pitch, especially early in the count.

07:38Tipped into the mid-strike three.

07:46Well, when you commit to throwing an inside fastball to your glove side across the strike zone, especially with two strikes, if you're going to miss, you want to miss off the plate in.

07:55You do not want to leave it out over the heart of the plate.

07:58So, that was excellent execution on that pitch.

08:00Really tied him up.

08:01And he couldn't get a piece at all.

08:03To third.

08:06And that one handled.

08:08Whips it to first.

08:10And he has thrown four.

08:13Back in Minnesota.

08:14We go to the top of the fifth.

08:16And into the box for Baltimore.

08:17O'Neal Cruz.

08:22One, one, one.

08:23Bounced up the middle.

08:26Not in time.

08:27And infield knocked to start the inning.

08:29Got himself in great position and couldn't have played that one any better, but just stood no chance with that great speed running down the line.

08:37Foul ball there.

08:40You know, these Orioles just aren't putting together very many good at-bats in this one.

08:44Just one base runner to this point, and it's not exactly early anymore.

08:48They have guys in this lineup capable of sparking something, but it just hasn't happened for them yet.

08:53So, up next, Heston Kerstad.

08:56Swing and a miss.

09:00And that's strike one.

09:02And that one is inside ball one.

09:05One ball, one strike.

09:07Pop foul out of play off to the right.

09:11Cruz leads off first with one away.

09:14And a swing and a miss.

09:16Make it seven strikeouts for him.

09:18It's all interesting.

09:19He's looking very comfortable out of this stretch after giving up the leadoff single.

09:22Back-to-back strikeouts, so they haven't been able to move that runner up, get him into scoring position, and try to have a better chance of scoring.

09:29I tell you, good job so far on the mound.

09:31He just needs one more out.

09:35Foul ball still 0-2.

09:37Failed another, and that's three straight strikeouts.

09:46And we're back.

09:47All right, we go to the top half of inning number six.

09:51Here's Cody Hosey.

09:53I'm impressed by the number of first-pitch strikes.

09:58He's not afraid of contact.

10:00Some guys, they'll nibble just because they don't want to get hit hard.

10:03That's not what we're seeing here.

10:05And he chases that one.

10:17That's his ninth strikeout so far.

10:20And next for the Orioles, Dane Myers.

10:24And a swing and a miss.

10:26So far, this guy's been able to tease the strike zone, gets those swings and misses.

10:30Somebody's going to have to shorten up, be a little more patient, and make this guy work in the zone a little more.

10:35Fires over to first.

10:37Two up, two down.

10:38Back to the top of the lineup.

10:40Next is the designated hitter, Sam Moody.

10:43That misses the zone.

10:45Ball one.

10:50And it's found away.

10:51And it's way and a miss.

10:58Just not able to catch up to that velocity.

11:02Swing and a miss.

11:04And he's down on strikes.

11:08Welcome back as we take a look at how today's starting pitchers have fared so far.

11:14That one finds the zone.

11:16And that is strike one.

11:18Swing and a fly ball in the air out towards right center field.

11:26He pulls it down and he makes the catch.

11:29And there's one away.

11:31Adley Rutschman, the next to hit for the Orioles.

11:36First pitch swinging.

11:38These hitters have been very aggressive early in the count.

11:41But when you're down, you might want to be a little more patient.

11:44Take some pitches.

11:45See if you can extend those at bats and get some base runners off.

11:49Leon snags it for the second out.

11:55Cruz at the plate with two away.

11:57Swings through that one.

11:58No ball.

11:59One strike.

12:01Late that time.

12:03And it's strike two.

12:04Oh, two.

12:04And down on strikes he goes.

12:10And good work there as he gets it.

12:12Back at target field.

12:14And now the first baseman, Michael Bush.

12:17That pitch in for a strike.

12:19Flows the high, he passed him.

12:31That's a strikeout.

12:33It gets talked about a lot.

12:35But a good high fastball in a two-strike situation,

12:38it's just become such a problem for hitters in more recent years.

12:42With all of the emphasis by pitchers on developing that spin rate,

12:46having a good grip on the baseball, those high fastballs,

12:50they kind of look like to the hitter that they're rising,

12:52even though they're not.

12:53But they're not decreasing in velocity and spin rate.

12:56So very difficult to get the barrel on it.

12:58Knocks that one away, and we'll do it again.

13:02One and two here.

13:05To the right side.

13:08And he takes it himself for the out.

13:10Oh, he's doing a nice job of keeping the ball out of the air.

13:14Let's the defense work behind him with another ground ball.

13:16Good execution.

13:19This one in the air.

13:23Makes the grab, and that'll end the inning.

13:26Orioles held it.

13:28And welcome back to the ballpark.

13:30Now the third baseman, Cody Hosey.

13:36And the first pitch misses for ball one.

13:38That's a good pitch there.

13:39Really had some run and finished up and in just on the edge.

13:44And that's what it was.

13:45If you swing at it, hit a broken bat as you jog back to the dugout.

13:49And that is out of play.

13:58Bounce to the left side.

14:00And that chance handled.

14:02Sends it to first.

14:04One up, one down.

14:06Dane Myers digs in now.

14:08That one finds the zone.

14:12Strike one.

14:16And a swing and a miss there.

14:19No ball.
