00:00Yeah, well, all we was, we got served the eviction notice a couple of weeks ago.
00:06No explanation, nothing.
00:08It told us that we're out by September.
00:10No help to get any of the properties, nothing at all.
00:14We're supposed to be in supported accommodation.
00:17We've all got PTSD and they've done nothing whatsoever for us.
00:23Oh, it's disgraceful.
00:25Gary, I'll bring you in.
00:26Would you mind just explaining a bit, lads, as well, if it's all right,
00:29about, you know, the kind of service that you've done in the armed forces as well?
00:32You know, I think a couple of you've been on multiple tours.
00:34Is that right?
00:35Yeah, I joined in 2004.
00:38I did nine years and then six years in the reserves.
00:43I did two tours of Afghanistan.
00:45I was in Olympic 11 and 16 with the Royal Tank Regiment.
00:50Yeah, and then I come here a couple of years ago
00:52because I was suffering with my mental health.
00:55I had a failed suicide attempt.
01:00So, yeah.
01:04Locking my wound, it moved me here.
01:07All right.
01:07Well, I will just say, if you don't mind me,
01:10I'm very glad that you're still with us in more ways than one.
01:13So, yes.
01:15And, Andy, can I just ask, so the letter hits the mat, does it, Andy?
01:21And it says, what, you've got to be out of this accommodation
01:23and there's no reason given?
01:27Are you just going to be homeless soon?
01:29Well, I asked the question, what's the reason for it?
01:34They didn't have an answer.
01:35I asked them what they've got in place for us if we do get infected.
01:39They still didn't have an answer.
01:40They said, we've got two months to do whatever.
01:47Stress levels in this building with all the boys and girls in here
01:50is just so high at the moment, you know what I mean?
01:52I'm 53 at the moment.
01:54If I get made homeless, I don't know what I'm going to do.
01:56I've got no family now, you know what I mean?
01:59So I'm going to be stuck.
02:00It's just absolutely shocking.
02:03Well, Trevor, as a councillor, I'm assuming that you've done your best
02:06to try and find out exactly what's going on.
02:08Who's responsible for this, then?
02:10Is this the local council?
02:11What's happening?
02:11Well, I just got a call off these guys a week and a bit of just over a week
02:16saying could I get involved because nobody's taken any interest.
02:20We've been served eviction notices and they want us out.
02:23So I was honoured to come and help them.
02:25Obviously, these lads have put their life on the line for the country
02:29and this is how they're treated.
02:30It's absolutely abysmal.
02:32It's horrible.
02:33And I couldn't wait to get involved.
02:35Come over here and the full story of what's going on
02:37and it's just depressing.
02:38I tried to speak to the housing authority.
02:42They don't want to know, to be honest.
02:43They said, we'll get back to you.
02:45Sport of Alton Council.
02:47And I think, to be honest, they've been trying to keep it a little bit quiet
02:50and us doing what we've done, especially with the video,
02:52what's gone viral.
02:53I think we've got the message out there.
02:56I honestly think...
02:56I think you've done the right thing.
02:57I think you've done the right thing.
03:00And let me tell you, you know, in my experience of this stuff,
03:02you know, sometimes I think the worst thing you can do is go quietly
03:05because that's what they want, right?
03:07And so I think you've done the right thing putting yourselves forward.
03:10Trevor, I'll just stick with you for now.
03:12Do we have any idea what's going to happen to this housing?
03:14Why do they need the veterans out?
03:17Well, from what I'm hearing,
03:19they've only got 12 of the 20 flats occupied,
03:22which says they want the full 20.
03:24Now, if they can't fill it up with veterans,
03:28it's easy to ship them out, fill it up with a river,
03:31and you've got the full 20,
03:32you've got nearly double the money you're getting now.
03:34If that's the case, it's pretty a sad state of affairs
03:38that you want to throw these lads on the road
03:40just to go and get extra money.
03:42And that's what it's looking like from this housing authority,
03:46I'll be honest.
03:46Well, Scott, how does it feel to have served the country,
03:51to have been willing to put your life on the line,
03:53and obviously suffer the consequences both mentally and physically,
03:57and to then be treated like this?
03:59Well, like you say, it's just all very stressful at the moment.
04:03I mean, we've all got the PTSD.
04:05The place itself that we're living in is an absolute mess.
04:08It's not been cleaned.
04:10They don't decorate.
04:10We're living in an absolute horrible situation.
04:14And now they're trying to throw us out.
04:17They're supposed to be here supporting us.
04:19We're not getting no answers of nobody.
04:21We're not getting nothing.
04:22Luckily, Trevor's got in touch.
04:25He's helping us.
04:26We're getting reaction from a lot of people.
04:28A lot of people supporting us.
04:29You know, we are veterans.
04:31You know, we've not come over here in a boat.
04:34We've served our country.
04:35We're getting nothing.
04:37The country is going, you know, it's abysmal at the moment.
04:41And it just doesn't seem that they care.
04:43Well, if you come across in a dinghy without a passport,
04:46there you go, there's a hotel, there's money.
04:48You know, do whatever you want.
04:49They haven't got a clue who they're letting in the country.
04:52We are veterans.
04:53We're part of the country.
04:54And we've got no rights.
04:56We've got nothing.
