Aid delivery into Gaza scaled up ahead of summit for peace in Egypt

Dozens of trucks crossed the Egyptian side of the Rafah crossing on Sunday, as tens of thousands of Palestinians return to their destroyed neighbourhoods. Meanwhile, world leaders are expected to gather to finalise the peace deal in Egypt on Monday.

00:00Dozens of aid trucks crossed into Gaza as preparations are underway to ramp up aid
00:07entering into the war-battered Strip. Beginning Sunday, the amount of trucks entering into Gaza
00:12will increase to 600 per day, as outlined in the ceasefire agreement. It comes as tens of
00:20thousands of displaced Palestinians return home to Gaza City in the north of the Strip,
00:25where the vast majority of neighborhoods lie in ruins. The World Bank estimated more than
00:3050 billion dollars, equivalent to roughly 43 billion euros, is needed to rebuild Gaza.
00:36Meanwhile, world leaders are scheduled to convene in Egypt on Monday for a peace summit. The
00:59meeting set to take place in Sharam al-Sheikh will include a formal signing ceremony for the peace plan.
