Trucks gather at the newly opened Rafah crossing to take aid into Gaza

Israeli forces shut down the crossing in early May after seizing it during an offensive on the southern city, causing Egypt to close its side in protest.

00:00Trucks were preparing to pass through the Rafah border crossing on Sunday morning after

00:06it opened for the first time since Israel captured it nine months ago.

00:11On Saturday, 34 children and three adults were medevacked from the Gaza Strip through

00:17the Rafah crossing to hospitals in Egypt.

00:19The World Health Organization says many injured and sick people need to be urgently medevacked

00:25and has called for medical corridors out of Gaza to get them out.

00:32WHO estimates that between 12,000 and 14,000 critical patients need to be medevacked outside

00:41Gaza.

00:42So, this is just the start.

00:44What we need is medical corridors now outside Gaza.

00:49The WHO expressed its gratitude to the government of Egypt for their continued support and for

00:54providing specialized care to Gazan patients.
