00:00Buenos dias from Antigua, Guatemala.
00:02We're here for four nights and three full days in this beautiful city.
00:05So today we're going to hit some good coffee shops, eat some delicious food, see all of the sights,
00:10and then tomorrow we are heading up the Asetenango hike to Si Fuego y Ra.
00:14So it should be pretty awesome. Let's go.
00:30No answer.
00:39We had a special guest join us on this trip, my baby brother.
00:42You might remember him from the Peru series as Mr. Pretty Good.
00:46Pretty good.
00:47We all arrived really late the night before at the Maison Ponce Verde in La Antigua, Guatemala.
00:52Antigua is about an hour taxi outside of La Aurora Airport in Guatemala City.
00:57It's a smooth drive until you get to the cobblestone streets of La Antigua.
01:01Our first hotel was Maison Ponce Verde, an absolutely stunning property with super unique rooms and delicious food.
01:11We are so excited to go out and explore Antigua, but it's honestly just hard to leave this hotel.
01:16It is so beautiful. The details everywhere from the tile work, the furniture,
01:21even the bathroom is just beautiful and the vibes here are immaculate.
01:27We are in the Central Park area of Antigua. It is beautiful.
01:31There's just a lot of trees, cool fountains, and we're just kind of taking in the scenery.
01:36And now we're going to go get caffeined up.
01:38I want everything.
01:47First stop, we're at Cafe Boheme to get a little bit of caffeine.
01:51And Lauren got like some weird lemonade thing.
01:54Hibiscus lemonade she is.
01:57Wow.
01:59With Garrett adequately caffeinated, we were off to explore some of the museums and cultural centers.
02:06There's a lot of these types of attractions in Antigua that you can visit for free.
02:09We'll link a couple of our favorites down in the description below.
02:12Alright, we are drinking a lot of coffee today because Guatemala is one of the leading producers of coffee beans.
02:18Antigua is full of adorable coffee shops serving local coffee.
02:22Guatemalan coffee is known for being mildly acidic with fruity nodes and it was delicious.
02:28When you drink too much, it makes you a little jittery.
02:31Drink too much coffee and I'm jittering.
02:35Too much.
02:36Too much.
02:37I like Guatemala coffee.
02:39Highly approved.
02:41Motorbikes are the way to get around Antigua.
02:43They are everywhere so watch where you're crossing the street.
02:46Time for lunch.
02:48We're walking to lunch and we left the hustle and bustle of Antigua.
02:51Now we're on this pretty nice off-the-beaten path.
02:55It's by a bunch of gated neighborhoods so it must be the wealthy part of Antigua.
02:59But it's nice.
03:00It's quiet out here.
03:01I just take a little nap here.
03:04I'm nice and sweaty.
03:06A little balmy.
03:08Oh.
03:09Yeah, they do.
03:11I'm back.
03:12That afternoon we took it easy before the big hike.
03:15We ate some delicious foods at Keowa Farms.
03:17This place specializes in farm-to-table dishes that are absolutely delicious.
03:22They have a storefront and also have volunteer opportunities if you are interested in learning
03:27more about sustainable agriculture.
03:29This place was pretty amazing and we highly recommend you check it out.
03:34Okay, so after lunch we did some hiking preparations.
03:37We went and bought a lot of water.
03:39The lady at the hotel basically told us that we might die so kind of just took that seriously.
03:44Up next we're going to go find some chocolate.
03:46Another thing that Guatemala is known for.
03:48Really excited to do that and then hopefully...
03:50Ooh, branch.
03:51Nah.
03:52Get some extra chocolate to take in our packs tomorrow.
03:54I'm excited.
03:55I got a coconut chocolate.
03:56Garrett got a pistachio chocolate.
04:00Chocolate cheese.
04:01Don't match.
04:02Mmm.
04:03Muy bien.
04:04Here's chocolate stop number two.
04:05That was sick.
04:06That was sick.
04:07I got a coconut chocolate.
04:08I got a coconut chocolate.
04:09Garrett got a pistachio chocolate.
04:10Chocolate cheese.
04:11I got a coconut chocolate.
04:12I got a coconut chocolate.
04:13I got a coconut chocolate.
04:14Garrett got a pistachio chocolate.
04:16Chocolate cheese.
04:17That match.
04:18Mmm.
04:19Muy bien.
04:20Here's chocolate stop number two.
04:27That was sick.
04:28Tonight we're having dinner at Nana.
04:29We're going to enjoy some good food, have some good conversations, get a full stomach,
04:33and then we're going to go back to the hotel and rest up for the big hike.
04:38It's good, isn't it?
04:39It's like not too sweet.
04:40It's almost like a little bitter with the cacao.
04:43After dinner, we hit the hay to rest up.
04:45Here is a sneak peek of our Acotenango hike in Guatemala.
04:48Our van is here.
04:49It's almost like a little bitter with the cacao.
04:51After dinner, we hit the hay to rest up.
05:03Here is a sneak peek of our Acotenango hike in Guatemala.
05:06Our van is here.
05:08Home sweet home.
05:14Going down on the volcanic ash is actually kind of fun.
05:19You just kind of like ski down.
05:21That's how I feel like this.
05:22For real, can we go eat dinner like that?
05:29Probably their lunch time.
05:31Yeah.
