The Village Church Farm Museum in Steadness has benefited from a government fund that is making
00:07
the local heritage accessible to more people. You've got some incredible news haven't you can
00:12
you share that with us? Yes we've actually successfully been awarded a significant grant
00:19
that's going to have a massive impact on us so we've been awarded £14,085. And they described
00:26
it as a lifeline what does this money mean to you? Well it's actually covered before the floor
00:35
so it's going to send us a big lifeline to our quiet period and it's going to cover our running
00:41
costs and our operating costs and it's also going towards a marketing plan as well which
00:45
that is the main thing we hear from a lot of people is that they've never heard about it or you know
00:50
they just drove past and it's not very well um like you know signed and things like this
00:54
so it's going on towards a marketing plan as well as operating costs. And that's such a shame isn't
00:58
it because you've had such a a wonderful summer of events haven't you? Tell us about some of the
01:04
events that take place there. Well we've had our annual events so we've had the 1940s so the wartime
01:11
village the hidden village which is the steampunks as well as Robert Overton's regiment afoot doing civil
01:17
war um we've got some wonderful viking re-enactors uh with uh Skegisheim I think they call it um and uh
01:25
Alice in Wonderland that's a another fantastic event here so we've had all the annual ones
01:30
and then we've also had some added in extras um like the pinch of Lincolnshire event um obviously
01:35
Easter so it's all been really successful and we've actually managed to increase our footfall by over a
01:41
thousand compared to last year so that's fantastic. That is incredible and it's so explain what the
01:48
what the museum has to show people because obviously you're still open aren't you through
01:54
through the winter or do you have a have a period where you close? We'll be open up until I think it's
02:02
the 14th of December and then we close just down for Christmas and then open again in the February
02:07
half to us that's our time to do sort of winter maintenance and things um but uh obviously as
02:12
you know we've got the big listed farmhouse we have a wonderful attraction which is Bob the traction
02:17
engine everyone loves Bob everyone loves Bob yeah everyone will be able to see him again next year
02:24
but again they're winding that down now uh obviously we've got the modern stuff cottage so we've got a
02:28
lot of things here that people have not got the opportunity to see anywhere else and a cafe and a
02:34
car park which are always good things to plug aren't they absolutely that gives us a big big selling
02:40
point yeah yeah so you've got your board members there I understand so do you want to just have
02:46
a little swing around and and see because these things wouldn't happen hi these things wouldn't
02:52
happen without the hard work of all your volunteers as well and uh and these are sort of some of the
03:01
board members that help sort of keep things uh in line but um how are you for volunteers at the moment
03:10
because I know we have done appeals haven't we in the past for volunteers we're desperately seeking
03:17
more volunteers that is always going to be an ongoing thing um because we've got so much for anybody
03:23
and everybody uh so they'll always fight be a job someone can can do it's it's not a problem um but
03:30
we just not many people want to volunteer especially a lot locally so we're reaching out all the time
03:36
for anybody that can even just spare an hour of their time just once a week even it makes a massive
03:41
impact on a completely volunteer-led business yeah and it has been described to me before that you're all
03:49
one big big big family really so so it's it's a fun thing to be involved in absolutely friendships for life
03:57
here i think
03:58
you
