Queen Elizabeth School Sixth Form
Transcript
00:30We have a really special sixth form community here at Queen Elizabeth School and Studio School.
00:36I'm really pleased to have the opportunity to tell you a little bit more about it.
00:40We offer a range of around 30 courses across academic, technical, vocational and creative pathways.
00:46Alongside there, a package of bespoke support and care for our young people and a really, really thriving range of extracurricular opportunities,
00:54including student leadership opportunities across the whole school, which gives our young people a chance to develop the skills and the expertise that employers and universities are really looking for.
01:04Sixth formers here are enjoying quite a different experience to what they've had in lower school.
01:22They have a lot more freedom and flexibility in lots of ways.
01:26We've got facilities that are really designed for them, so a well-stocked sixth form library, a common room and a sixth form only cafe.
01:33Alongside that, in their timetables, they have more independent students.
01:37They have the flexibility to bring their own devices to support with the independent learning.
01:41So a lot of what we do as a sixth form team is helping young people manage that transition, which is really exciting,
01:46but brings its challenges to more independent study and young adult life.
01:50Hi, I'm Tomi.
01:58I take maths, Spanish and economics, and last year I did further maths at AIMS.
02:04The one for the part six form is the amount of free time and the choices that you have available.
02:09There's lots of extracurricular clubs and, you know, if you want to do something in free time, you're able to.
02:17Hi, I'm Emma.
02:18I do performance arts, drama and geography, performance arts, and the continuation of the pathway I take in year 11.
02:24The thing I've enjoyed most about sixth form is the amount of support I've had with applying for unconventional post-sic form groups,
02:31such as drama schools, where you are required to have extra information.
02:36Hi, I'm Amelia. I'm one of the principal leaders here. I study French, philosophy and maths.
02:50I have really enjoyed my time here at the sixth form. I have found that it's not just a place about academics,
02:56it is also a place about self-discovery and growth. This place has really supported me and I've been able to pursue what I'm most interested in.
03:02and find new interests as well.
