The latest Demos–PwC Good Growth for Cities Index reveals the UK’s worst-performing cities based on jobs, crime, transport, and quality of life.

00:00The UK's worst cities to live in have been revealed and there are some surprising results.
00:08Cities across the country were rated on a range of factors including crime,
00:12jobs, transport, work-life balance and the local environment.
00:17The 2025 DEMO's PWC Good Growth for Cities Index ranks 50 UK cities, excluding London,
00:24with positive scores showing above average performance and negative scores showing below
00:29average. Here's the countdown at the bottom five. In fifth place Southend with a score of negative 0.07.
00:40In fourth place Middlesbrough and Stockton scoring negative 0.26.
00:49Third place goes to Birmingham with negative 0.28.
00:52Bradford takes second with negative 0.29.
01:03And the bottom of the list Walsall with a score of negative 0.32.
