00:00And also in Cuba, women and men from the island and 12 other countries
00:04gathered in the Marianao neighborhood in Havana to express their strong solidarity
00:08with the Palestinian people. We were there to share the story.
00:14International solidarity and ongoing resistance, those were the key elements that gave life to
00:20this festival. Music, poetry, arts and crafts brought together a number of Cuban organizations
00:26all ready to express their continuous support to the Palestinian cause as October marks two years
00:32of genocide in Gaza, at the hands of Israel and the complicity of many Western powers.
00:41It is a question of humanity, of knowing right from wrong and knowing what stands to take,
00:47a radical stands in favor of the end of death and also of murder.
00:52I think there is a sensibility in young Cubans, that's genetic, thanks to this revolution
01:03and its internationalism that comes out in the face of injustice and pain of this magnitude
01:09coming from the genocide that the state of Israel is committing against the Palestinian people.
01:14Internationalist activists from 13 countries took part in the event. An idea comes up time and time
01:25again, that a wound as deep as the one inflicted against the Palestinians affects us all, can be
01:31felt by all and demands global action to continue fighting for the future of humanity.
01:36First community is what gives us power and it also is what nourishes us in hard times and so we're
01:44looking at two years of a genocide, we're looking at a lot of destruction and a lot of pain and so
01:48coming together from across the world in community with food, with song, with art, we really realize
01:55that there are people around the world who care about this, who are standing up for this and who are
01:59not going to let the genocide go, go happening as it has been without fighting back.
02:05Here solidarity takes different forms, from the collective of women who have decided to shave
02:10their heads to raise awareness, to the joint reading of poetry that carries the pain and
02:15resilience of Gaza halfway across the world. Yasan is a Palestinian doctor trained in Cuba and he takes
02:23the mic to thank the warm embrace of everyone present. Once again Cuba chose in practice the
02:31revolutionary character, its revolutionary principles. Cuba has always been for justice,
02:40close to the Palestinian cause and from here we need to always raise our voices,
02:44multiply our actions in favor of peace and the sovereignty of our peoples.
02:56The words of Cuban Silvio Rodriguez and Argentine Marielena Walsh fill the air in songs that speak of
03:02hope and the importance of ongoing fighting against oppression around the world. In their voices Latin
03:08America joins Gaza in its struggle for a free Palestine from this corner of the Marianao neighborhood in Havana.
