00:00Every Tuesday I get fish for Tuesday and Wednesday dinners and I'd cooked the fish and we were sitting down to have it, my wife and I, and then all this commotion started, but I did finish my fish, it was a bit cold, and then I had to do the washing up, so that's how it went.
00:24It was extremely exciting, it's an incredible acknowledgement of the fantastic work that Richard and his colleagues have done, not only in the early 80s when he started doing this pioneering work, but for the last few decades.
00:36From Richard's original insight, where he described that these type of molecules and materials were possible to make, it's fair to say that he's inspired thousands and thousands of scientists, and many people have made contributions to this.
00:49Today he was even in, after winning the Nobel Prize, teaching our students about chemistry.
00:54So, he's much admired, there's been an outpouring of emotion, I think, across Australia, coming to the University of Melbourne on Richard's award.
01:02Richard Robson winning the Nobel Prize for chemistry, I think just reinforces that Australian universities, Australian research, Australian science, is just competing at the top echelons of world science.
01:13He's amazing, as I said, he's still in here, I think he's finding, you know, he's very unassuming and understated.
01:21Possibly this is very overwhelming to be awarded a Nobel Prize, but yeah, he still came in today to the University, talked to students, talked to staff, and he's obviously incredibly happy.
