U.N. Secretary-General António Guterres said that the U.N. “will support the full implementation of the agreement and will scale up the delivery of sustained and principled humanitarian relief, and we will advance recovery and reconstruction efforts in Gaza.”
He urged all “to seize this momentous opportunity to establish a credible political path forward” toward “recognizing the right to self-determination of the Palestinian people, and achieving a two-state solution that enables Israelis and Palestinians to live in peace and security.”

00:00I welcomed the announcement last night of an agreement to secure a ceasefire and
00:05ostrich release in Gaza, based on the proposal put forward by President Donald J. Trump.
00:12And I commend the diplomatic efforts of the United States, Qatar, Egypt and Turquia in
00:18brokering the desperately needed breakthrough. I urge all parties to fully abide by the terms
00:24of the agreement and to fully embrace the opportunities it presents. All hostages must be released
00:30in a dignified manner. A permanency's fire must be secured. The bloodshed must stop once
00:38and for all. And the United Nations will provide its full support. We and our partners are prepared
00:45to move now. We have the expertise, the distribution networks, the community relationships in place
00:53to act. Supplies are in place and our teams are on standby. We can scale up food, water,
01:02medical and shelter assistance at once. For Israelis and Palestinians alike, this deal offers a glimmer
01:09of relief. And that glimmer must become the dawn of peace, the beginning of the end of
01:15this devastating war. I urge all to seize this momentous opportunity to establish a credible
01:22political path forward. A path towards ending the occupation, recognizing the right to self-determination
01:30of the Palestinian people and achieving a two-state solution. A path to a just and lasting peace
01:37between Israelis and Palestinians and to wider peace and security in the Middle East.
01:43This breakthrough shows us the power and potential of diplomacy. Let it be a reminder that the
01:52solutions to conflicts are not found on the battlefield. They must be forged at the negotiating
01:58table. And then, crucially, they must be fully implemented. The world is watching.
