Le jeune Charlie Kincaid ignore que son père Jack, trop souvent absent à son goût, est le super-héros le plus puissant au monde : le Gardien. Un jour, alors que le garçon a invité chez lui ses amis Berger, Lizzie et Maya, il découvre par hasard la base secrète de son père et tous ses gadgets étonnants dans le sous-sol de la maison. Pendant ce temps, Ansel Argon, le PDG d'une entreprise d'armement, décide d'utiliser les super-pouvoirs du Gardien pour son propre compte et mener ainsi à bien ses sinistres projets. Il envoie une équipe de mercenaires, menée par Sean Irons, chez les Kincaid. A leur arrivée, ceux-ci tombent sur le groupe d'enfants...
