00:00Keith, as the game was playing out, I thought of you yesterday saying,
00:03McAvoy's got to be strong on the back end.
00:08Swayman's got to be strong in net.
00:09And Pasternak has to carry the goal scoring.
00:11Now, I don't know if you can do that every night where one line scoring
00:15and you're only giving up one goal.
00:16I don't know if you can do that every night.
00:18Tough.
00:18But those three guys have to come up big for them to win games.
00:21And we're one game in.
00:22Last night they did.
00:23And that's why Cam Neely even yesterday is talking about how they're going to
00:27add some offense.
00:27He knows going in.
00:28They don't have any.
00:29It's all on that first line.
00:31And there's been years when the Bruins have been pretty good
00:33and they've still had one scoring line.
00:36Remember, it was always like, do you break up these guys?
00:38Because you only have one line scoring and that kind of thing.
00:40But you saw Pasternak.
00:42He's not going to have 240 points this season.
00:44But he had a monster game.
00:47Good to see Geeky picking up where he left off because that is another one
00:49of your goal scorers.
00:51And Swayman had 35 saves.
00:53So what a difference a year makes.
00:55Because last year at this time, Jeremy Swayman had, like,
00:58just finally signed his contract.
01:00He wasn't involved in training camp.
01:02He wasn't ready to go in the season opener.
01:04And then he comes out and then just never really found the footing.
01:09And he just had a bad year.
01:11And so completely different.
01:14He's available for the opener.
01:15He has 35 saves.
01:16And there's a big reason why you win the game.
01:18Look, I've never wavered on Swayman.
01:19He's annoying.
01:20Yeah.
01:21And I've got to listen to him.
01:22You know, last year was a disaster.
01:24Like, an absolute disaster.
01:25But it's because he wasn't ready to go.
01:28And some of that, I'm sorry, is on the Bruins.
01:30They gave him the contract.
01:32They caved.
01:32If they caved earlier, he would have had an offseason.
01:35He didn't.
01:36So some of it's on him.
01:37A lot of it, I think, is on the Bruins.
01:39They don't want to pay him.
01:39They ultimately caved and did.
01:40They should have done it earlier.
01:41You should have given him that number earlier than you did
01:43to get him in there and have a proper offseason.
01:46So let's see.
01:47Yeah.
01:47If he follows up last year with another stink bomb,
01:51well, then maybe he can't play.
01:52Maybe he's not worth the contract.
01:54But while I'm not happy with Swayman a year ago, I get it.
01:57He wasn't engaged.
01:58The team wasn't engaged.
01:59The whole thing was a mess.
02:01From Monty to Marchand down to the goalie,
02:04being AWOL most of the offseason.
02:07All of it was a lost year.
02:08It was a lost year.
02:09Yeah, it was, unfortunately.
02:10And, you know, one game in, long way to go.
02:13I think that opinion is looking pretty good.
02:17That last year was a lost year.
02:19Chalk it up.
02:20Swayman had a good preseason.
02:21He was awesome last night.
02:23He's even stopping the hamper, trying to knock it into his own goal.
02:26Yeah, yeah, yeah.
02:26So what he finished with?
02:2735 saves last night.
02:28Yeah.
02:28I didn't think the goal he gave up was bad, per se.
02:31It's not like he got roasted on that goal.
02:33And I think he was pretty good last night.
02:35So I feel pretty good about that.
