00:00Bristol Rovers' Luke Thomas made clear that the Gas made hard work of their win in the EFL Trophy against Cheltenham.
00:07Yeah, I thought we made hard work of it. I thought the lads that played, I thought we all really put in a really good performance.
00:15Our intensity was really good and, yeah, you know, flying the ball probably a few times could have easily won that two or three now.
00:22You just took me through your goal as well because it was a really well taken shot.
00:26Yeah, I just think I need to be a little bit more selfish at times. I messed it up in the first half by trying to pass it to Fab.
00:31But it was a really bad pass, to be fair, so I thought I just needed to be confident here and, yeah, I took the shot in and, yeah, probably it was lucky to hit the post and went in.
00:39But, yeah, it looked a really good finish.
00:41Yeah, well, there's nothing luck about that, to be fair. We mentioned that on commentary, to be fair, is that you guys just maybe need to be a little bit braver, potentially.
00:47And just when the ball is at your feet and you see an opportunity on goal, just take the shot.
00:52Yeah, I think so. I think that's obviously always been a thing in my game where I've struggled to do it, final ball.
00:58But, yeah, hopefully this season I'm on three goals now more than I got last season.
01:01So, you know, that's a positive. I'm only 12, 13 games in or something like that.
01:05So, yeah, I need to be brave whether it's with the pass or whether I'm shooting.
01:09I need to make up my mind up and, yeah, just go with it.
01:11And performing well in EFL trophy matches will grant opportunities for Bristol Rovers players to start in League Two matches.
01:20That's according to assistant head coach, Rhys Carr.
01:24Yeah, of course it does. You know, that's the environment we want.
01:26You know, every player should be pushing, pushing to stay in the team and pushing to get in the team, depending on their circumstance at any point.
01:31So, yeah, we're delighted. We wanted to come to win the game and, yeah, thankful we've done that.
01:36And I would say a fine finish at the edge of the box, wasn't it?
01:39It was. And he's very capable of it. And we want to push him.
01:43I think out he's doing terrifically well, you know, in terms of his performances at the moment.
01:48How we can push him to be even better is getting more goals and more assists because he gets in great positions and he's got quality.
01:53So, yeah, back himself to score and he did tonight.
01:56We know as a staff, you always look at one game at a time, but was it important to get straight back to winning ways?
02:01Yeah, absolutely. Absolutely. You know, no football club's gone on an infinite winning run ever.
02:08You'll win games, you'll lose games. But as soon as you lose, you want to quickly get back to winning.
02:11So that was important tonight. And we've done that. And, you know, we're really pleased with it.
