David Newton Previews Cowboys/Panthers, Bryce Young and the Carolina offense & more

David Newton from ESPN joined Shan and Bobby to preview the Panthers ahead of their matchup with the Cowboys. He broke down the state of the Panthers, Bryce Young’s development, the running back rotation with Chuba Hubbard and Rico Dowdle, and the rookie impact of Tetairoa McMillan. 00:21your feel on this i have not really had a good feel for this carolina team all season again

00:28because there's just so many unknowns and that you really never got to see them in training camp

00:33play much in the preseason game because they didn't play their starters um and then in the

00:37first five games it's just been such a roller coaster you know where um they played great

00:42against atlanta they played like dogs the first two games and then the game after that i mean they

00:46were one in one and three and i it looked like they were headed for one and four last week and

00:51got things turned around so i i still think it's a work in progress they're still trying to find

00:56their identity and what they want to be i think last week with the comeback was was a little more

01:01what they wanted to be with the power running game and bryce not having to carry them um but again

01:06miami's run defense was hard i mean if you think that the dallas defense is bad um miami's run

01:12defenses is it was just it reminded me of watching the panthers run defense last year and even early

01:17this season um they couldn't stop anybody i mean rico was like even went in there to start the second

01:23half and ask for a certain play to be called and and they called it and they ran it for 53 yards so

01:28um i i don't want to read too much into what what that offense is based on that game because again

01:35miami i just think um it was so bad they were allowed 158 yards a game coming into the game so

01:41i mean the fact that rico got 206 doesn't seem like a big deal in a lot of ways because they couldn't

01:46stop anybody before they came in here so again dallas is a little better against the run i think they're

01:51like what 21 23 24 somewhere in that area and stopping the run that's not great but uh you know

01:57i i think that that if they can shut down the run and put all the pressure on bryce i think that'll

02:02be a real key for for what they want to do and their success they want to have
