Typhoon Halong hit Japan's Izu islands on Thursday, October 9, bringing heavy winds and rain, surveillance footage showed. The Japan Meteorological Agency issued strong wind and high waves warnings on Wednesday, October 8, for the Izu islands, located south of the country's main island, Honshu. The agency advised residents of the islands to evacuate, and warned that violent winds strong enough to destroy some homes are expected.
