Taiwan's Consumer Price Index, which tracks the cost of everyday goods and services, rose just 1.25 percent in September from the same month last year. It marks the slowest pace of increase in four and a half years.

00:00Taiwan's inflation is cooling, with consumer prices in September rising at the slowest pace in four and a half years.
00:08Taiwan's statistics authority says the country's consumer price index, a key measure of goods and services, was up just 1.25% from a year ago.
00:17That's the lowest it's been in seven months.
00:19Officials say prices is due to limited typhoon damage to crops, car tax cuts, and higher prices during the same time last year.
00:27But not everything is cheaper. Household goods, especially food, still cost around 2.5% more.
00:34And while electricity prices are set to rise, the government says the overall impact on inflation should be limited this month.
