When it comes to the Patriots' upcoming schedule- no reason to brake.
Transcript
00:00While the Patriots, they are back, Shaughnessy today in the Boston Globe has a column where he notes,
00:05the prudent thing, of course, is to pump the brakes and remind everybody that the 2025 Patriots
00:10couldn't beat the awful Raiders in Foxborough, that they committed five turnovers in a ridiculous
00:15home loss to the Steelers, and that the lords of television buried the Patriots in anonymous
00:19one o'clock Sunday slots for 13 weekends because nobody expected them to be interesting.
00:25Well, Shaughnessy notes, it's not so much about the Patriots, but what we've been talking about
00:30with the schedule, and the schedule is wide open for this team.
00:37They should be 6-2.
00:39They've already had the losses to inferior teams where they stepped on their own foot.
00:43They have these games ahead of them.
00:45This weekend's big.
00:46They're only three and a half point favorites against the awful Saints in New Orleans.
00:50That feels like a trap game for a young team coming off a lot of praise after the game against
00:54the Bills on Sunday night.
00:56But just betting alone, I know this is Shyam's side of the street, but right now, they are
01:02plus 400 to win the division.
01:05So if you bet 100, you win 400.
01:08I would absolutely put a couple bucks on that.
01:11I mean, they're 2-0 in the division.
01:13The only games they have remaining are at home against the Dolphins, 2 against the Jets,
01:17and the Bills at home.
01:18If you say you split with the Bills, you lose that one, you're 5-1 in the division.
01:21Listen, I find that the two most difficult division games they've already won, in Miami
01:26and in Buffalo, two places they've had a hard time winning of late.
01:29And I just watch and see what the rest of the NFL is.
01:33You don't have to be an all-time great team.
01:36You just have to be the best team that year.
01:38And the NFL is down.
01:40There's a stat at PFF where they do the quarterback and all the player rankings, and you can have
01:45these qualifiers.
01:45So 80% of dropbacks is what I use to see, you know, what Drake looks like against Mahomes
01:51and everybody else.
01:52There's only 16 quarterbacks that have taken 80% or more of their team's snaps.
01:58Half the league's quarterbacks haven't taken 80% of the snaps, which is unbelievable when
02:06you consider how much we protect them.
02:07So all of that tells me, barring injury, the Patriots are about to go on a run, and it's
02:12not hyperbole to say that they're a playoff team already.
02:14Tomato cans.
02:17That's what Shaughnessy would say.
02:18He does.
02:19That's what you have.
02:20You have a bunch of tomato cans ahead of you, and we talked about this yesterday.
02:24Your two hottest games left are going to be at home to the Bills and on the road to the
02:31Bucs.
02:31The Baltimore game, I don't know what that's going to look like because that's towards
02:35the end of the season.
02:36But even if it's tough, that's only three tough games.
02:39Right, right.
02:39So even if it's tough, like Shime said, that's three tough games.
02:42You'll be on the road in Baltimore.
02:44Well, and we were talking about it yesterday.
02:46You believe, I think most everybody does, that AFC is pretty wide open.
02:51Wide open.
02:52I mean, who scares you?
02:55I mean.
02:56Who's the best team in the AFC?
02:58Buffalo.
02:58We talked about this yesterday.
03:00You think.
03:01You think.
03:01You think.
03:04I mean, we just love it.
03:06I mean, we have a bunch of other teachers, but I told you that a bunch of them all came
03:08up and they're out of common general, and we're not around and that you're out of ...
03:16We used to do that talent.
03:18But it is so hard to pay for us.
03:19I've already tied up, because there are other games of you to go in嘴.
