00:00Conor, 1-0 win against New Milton tonight. Was that just a night with all the pressure and territory, just to be patient to get that goal?
00:08Yeah, that's what we spoke about before the game at half-time. It was about not making poor decisions with the ball in terms of always staying concentrated.
00:21We didn't need to score off of every pass. We just had to basically wait for them to get bored or to get tired and not cover a position.
00:32I thought we could have been 4-0 up at half-time. I thought we were decent in that first half.
00:36Definitely. I think in the second half, all the way up to the goal, exactly the same thing.
00:41In the last 10 minutes, they were always going to try and do a little bit more, but I don't know about our game management in the last 10 minutes.
00:52Too many poor decisions could have allowed them back into the game when we didn't need to.
00:58It was a game you dominated throughout. Obviously, at 1-0, they were always going to go for it a little bit more at the end.
01:04You just sort of gave the ball away a couple of times when you were in front and could have just, as you say, managed it out.
01:11Obviously, you did win, but as you say, could have...
01:13Yeah, again, I just literally said that to the boys. I'll never want to be one that kills the vibe after a game that you've won.
01:19But that last 10 minutes weren't good enough, to be honest with you.
01:23They've sat off us the entire game. The last 10 minutes there, they're coming out pressing man-for-man,
01:28which is what you'd expect someone to do chasing a game. You don't need to play passes anymore.
01:34The spaces and beyond, it's quite clear that that's all we had to do.
01:38Trying to be too intricate in and around the halfway lines, they were just getting too many counter-attacks.
01:45I think they only had one shot still, but it's the principle of you're allowing them chances when we didn't need to.
01:53But the rest of the 80 minutes, really good.
01:57Yeah, and in that first 80 minutes, with the amount of chances created, it could obviously have been a lot more than it was, couldn't it?
02:04Yeah, it should have been. I think that's two games in a row now. Definitely, that's two games in a row.
02:09We played Bemi at the weekend and we're having the same conversation.
02:14The amount of chances we missed or when we were in good positions, that last pass to be able to pick someone out
02:20or have a bit of quality or individual quality in their moments wasn't really there the entire game Saturday.
02:29Again, it happened tonight. We've got in some great positions numerous times.
02:35Probably talking over 20 times in the game, we've got into really, really good positions and just failed to have the quality to score more goals or to really, as you said, bury the game earlier.
02:48At halftime, presumably, it was keep going and it will come sort of thing.
02:53Obviously, with all that sort of pressure and chances you had had.
02:55Yeah, to be honest with you, the lads are a little bit disappointed, but I think that's because they hadn't scored a goal yet.
03:02So, you know, the message from us was just basically exactly the same, just a few reminders of what we said before the game.
03:11And, you know, we picked out three or four repeated patterns that were just coming off almost at will.
03:20And we just said to the boys that we almost didn't need to do anything else other than them four things.
03:25Whether it's going down the left, we're going to do this or this.
03:29If it's going down the right, we're going to do this or this because it was almost working every time.
03:33So we didn't need to do anything else.
03:36I said to the boys at halftime, if we come in 4-0 up here, you're having a different conversation.
03:41You're saying that we played great. So the only difference is effectively four pieces of technical quality throughout the whole half.
03:47So, yeah.
03:48Kian would be having a bit of joy down the right.
03:50And then for the goal, obviously, he sort of gets in down there again, cuts it across and Asad obviously finishes it off.
03:56Yeah, it's one of the things we spoke about, you know, about how are we getting him into the position we need to get him into to be able to do that.
04:04And, you know, as you said, he had a lot of joy in that first half.
04:07A few really good crosses into the box. Their goalie had a good game.
04:11I must say that. I think their goalie was quite decent. And we did really test him tonight.
04:17It wasn't as if we weren't working him. We were. But I just feel like a little bit more killer instinct.
04:23We would have come off with a few more goals there.
04:25As you say, obviously, you would have liked more, you know, with the chances and stuff.
04:29But it is another win and it sort of keeps up the great start really, doesn't it?
04:32Yeah. Funnily enough, obviously, after their result of the weekend, everyone was going, oh, you're going to do this and that to them.
04:38And I said, no, we're not. Football never works like that.
04:41They were obviously going to play in a very different way to what they played at the weekend because they wouldn't want that to happen again.
04:46Having said that, if we take our chances, it could have been that scoreline again.
04:50But yeah, at the end of the day, three points is three points.
04:54It doesn't matter if you score six or seven goals, if you score one goal, you get the same value at the game at the end of the day.
05:00Which is fine. So the three points is obviously all that matters.
05:05But as I said, 80 minutes, really, really good.
05:09Just a little bit disappointed of how it ended because, as I said, you give them opportunities to score.
05:15Not that they had many opportunities, but opportunities to go and attack and score.
05:19At some point you do that too much, you'll come unstuck.
05:23And thoughts will obviously turn to Millbrook on Saturday now, presumably.
05:28Yeah, I've got to try and get some footage and analyse and we go into Thursday with a full game plan on how we can beat them.
05:38And yeah, so all stay ahead now, they're a good team.
