A quiet walk back through the streets that made me. “My Oasis” is a love song written from my memories — the alley shortcuts, Heckscher Park afternoons, the lake that still calls our names, and the little shops that held pieces of my life. It’s a song about how places change but the feelings they hold remain, and how coming home can feel like stepping into a memory that never left. Sung at Austin’s Ale House in Kew Gardens Queens. Hopefully I was able to convey this fragile, honest, moment. Copyright © 2025 Frederick Chipkin.

00:00Okay, this song is called Bioasis. It's about Huntington Village, where my parents had a ceramic store. I love that they're everywhere.
00:15In my thoughts, the streets are still the same. People tell you that things will always change.
00:30And they tell me that my mother needs to pass. In my heart, I know that always lasts.
00:43Shortcuts taken down our streets, and extra park where we used to be. The lake's still there, and it still calls our day.
00:52Well, I sang your song, a sweet serenade, and time stretched out, and plans were made. We'd come so far, yet come back here again.
01:03Oh, the sweet streets of Huntington Village. Time's moved on, but the feeling's still the same.
01:15Every once I've carried us forward, but in my heart, he'll always remain.
01:27It was here with fingers.
01:29As a wolf, a corner on a common street, my parents go not bad to dream, but I close my eyes, and it's still standing there.
01:38There's aerobic showers and oasis, with stoneware pots and sparkling blazes. The storm is gone, but the heart comes home again.
01:50All those sweet streets of Huntington Village. Time's moved on, but the feeling's still the same.
02:02And the winds have carried us forward, but in my heart, he'll always remain.
02:12All those sweet streets of Huntington Village.
02:18The flower shops managed it to wear, and the music's still no longer there, and the bookshop's now smoothed so far down the street.
02:28Time's moved on, but things have changed, but my love for you is still the same, for things have gone, but the heart comes home again.
02:39All those sweet streets of Huntington Village. Time's moved on, but the feeling's still the same.
02:51And the winds have carried us forward, but in my heart, he'll always remain.
03:01All these worn and covered memories, cast in griefs of all I've known.
03:11And the winds have carried us back again, to the place that I hold home.
03:22To the coming of my life.
03:24I'll be in my heart.
03:26That's amazing.
03:27You okay?
03:28You okay?
03:29You're welcome.
03:30I'm gonna tear you up.
03:31I'm gonna tear you off, but the feeling's still the same.
03:34The soul is even gonna do nothing, so that you need to be in your heart.
03:36I do.
03:37For the time of my heart.
03:39I want to thank you, my heart.
03:40You're welcome.
03:41You're welcome.
03:42I will ask you.
03:43You're welcome.
03:44You're welcome.
03:45You're welcome.
03:46I'm gonna be here.
03:47I will be here that way.
03:48That way you're back.
03:49I believe you're welcome.
03:50I will be there to be at work.
