Lightning alerts on the free AccuWeather app

When you download the free AccuWeather app, you not only get access to AccuWeather and government alerts for severe weather, but also lightning alerts that can detect lightning in your area.

00:13places that can be dangerous with lightning threat we have many tools in the free AccuWeather app to

00:18help you to stay best informed and stay safer that's what we do here at AccuWeather and when

00:22you download the free AccuWeather app which you could do by scanning the QR code on the screen

00:27you have the ability to get your latest local AccuWeather forecast for your current location

00:31anywhere around the world and if you tap in the upper right hand corner of the screen that's when

00:37you can go into settings and I want to show you if you scroll all the way down here toward alerts and

00:43notifications and then tap on manage notifications this is where you have the opportunity to turn on

00:48important push notifications and I'm going to highlight a couple of those here first of all

00:52you're going to want to turn on government alerts and also lightning alerts you can turn those on for

00:58any location that you care about around the country around the world and when you when lightning is

01:04detected nearby this is what you'll get on the screen a push notification that shows lightning in your

01:09area and you notice you have the ability to tap right into the AccuWeather app you go to the latest

01:13AccuWeather radar AccuWeather minicast minute-by-minute forecast for your specific location many other

01:19tools and I want to highlight as well on the new AccuWeather app down at the bottom when you tap

01:23on radar and maps you also get of course the interactive radar but you have the ability as

01:29well to tap on lightning and see lightning strikes that are occurring where they're happening and how

01:34they're animating out in time so you can be best informed about where the lightning risk is right

01:38now and where it's heading so you can loop that out as a great tool as well AccuWeather has been
