00:00In two years after the beginning of the Israeli genocide against the Palestinian people,
00:15the Sionist regime has killed more than 76,600 people.
00:23Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro denounced a false flag operation
00:26planned by the national false right to justify any aggression by U.S. imperialism against the national territory.
00:35In the U.S., a federal judge in Oregon has temporarily blocked the Trump administration from deploying National Guard troops to Portland,
00:41siding with state officials who argued the move violated constitutional limits on federal power.
00:47Hello, welcome to From the South. I'm Luis Alberto Matos from the Dele Sous Studios in Havana, Cuba.
00:56We'll begin with the news.
00:58Two years after the beginning of the Israeli genocide against the Palestinian population,
01:07health authorities in the Gaza Strip reported that the Sionist regime had killed more than 76,600 people.
01:13The authorities informed that more than 67,000 people were killed in Sionist bombings,
01:32while almost 10,000 are missing on the rubble since October 7, 2023.
01:36Likewise, medical personnel have also been targeted by the Tel Aviv military forces,
01:41with more than 1,700 healthcare professionals killed to date and another 362 illegally detained.
01:48Two years after the Israeli aggression against Gaza, famine reached critical levels,
01:52with dozens of deaths from starvation, including 154 children,
01:57the most vulnerable sector and hardest hit by the criminal policies of Benjamin Netanyahu's government.
02:01And in two years of systematic violence against the Gaza Strip, thousands of children and women have been killed by Israel.
02:12Let's look at the following report.
02:16Since October 2023, the Israeli military offensive on Gaza has had a devastating toll on the civilian population,
02:24with a disproportionate impact on children and women.
02:27According to the United Nations Agency for Palestinian Refugees, more than 80,000 children were killed by Israeli attacks up to August 2025,
02:34while the Gaza Ministry of Health reports that at least 70,200 women have been killed by Israelis on March 11 of this year,
02:42a fact that the humanitarian organizations describe as a collective punishment.
02:45The figure represents almost 17% of the total fatalities, and at least 30,000 children have been left orphaned in the midst of the Zionist violence.
02:56UNICEF warns that every day, 120 Palestinian children are killed, while thousands lie under rubble with no possibility of rescue.
03:08Witnesses report summary executions on entire families,
03:11deliberate destruction of maternity ward, and use of white phosphorus in residential areas.
03:16According to the United Nations, at least 21,000 gas and children have been disabled since the Israeli bombings and grand operations began.
03:28Israel maintains a total humanitarian blockade that prevents the entry of food, water and medicines, containing 1.1 million children from hunger and disease.
03:42This crisis, defined by the United Nations as the world humanitarian catastrophe of the 21st century,
03:49is evidence of the impunity of a state that operates outside international law, while Western powers continue to finance and arm the occupying army.
04:01Let's not go deeper in the analysis of these last two years of Israeli genocide against the people of Palestine.
04:06We are joined by Domestic Policy Analyst and PhD in Anthropology, Adrian Pine.
04:12Welcome, Doctor, to From the South.
04:15Thank you for having me.
04:16Oh, it's our pleasure to have you.
04:18We are two years into this genocidal war in Gaza.
04:22How would you characterize what is happening right now on the ground with these astonishing figures of over 67,000 people killed and many more displaced?
04:32Well, what we know is that those figures are a vast undercount.
04:35In fact, there's upwards of 200,000 people killed based on a Lancet study that was done now a long time ago.
04:45And, you know, so those are very conservative estimates.
04:48And right now, with the starvation at such a peak level, those deaths are increasing.
04:55But this also means that whoever may survive this is going to have generational damage.
05:05Starvation, you know, does tremendous damage to bodies.
05:08And there's also a danger of refeeding should this end of people dying from not initiating eating in the same way again.
05:17So the violence and the inaction of the nations of the world is something that needs to end immediately in the next couple of weeks if the people of Gaza who remain have any chance of being saved.
05:32And if we, you know, if Palestinians will have any chance of sovereignty going forward.
05:39As you were saying, we're seeing a lot of inaction from certain sectors.
05:43There are those still today that support Israel's narrative and say that what is happening in Gaza is not a genocide.
05:48Could you briefly break down the legal definition of genocide and explain which specific actions, with what specific actions are the Israeli regime committing to, like, the humanitarian blockade, the bombardment of safe zones, and the targeting of civilian infrastructure?
06:02How do they meet this term?
06:05Well, the Genocide Convention defines genocide, and it has a number of criteria, all of which have been very clearly met, you know, the intentional, basically the intentional elimination of the people.
06:17And you can look in the text itself, but the main point is that the main court, the International Court of Justice, even the UN last month, determined that a genocide is happening.
06:30So there's really no question about this whatsoever.
06:35And actually, I think the majority of nations understand that this is what's happening.
06:40We saw, for example, a year ago on September 8th, 2024, a resolution was passed in the UNGA overwhelmingly by the, you know, over 90% of the world's nations, you know, voted yes or abstained,
06:58and it was a
07:07And that it immediately complied with the orders from the ICJ and the ICC that at the time were finding that there was cause to believe that there was genocide.
07:18So there is a recognition among the states of the world that this is happening.
07:23However, they have not done their part under the Genocide Convention, which does compel them to act actively act to stop a genocide wherever it is happening.
07:33And the ways that states have failed to do so are by continuing to supply, to provide military supplies, continuing to allow ships to dock that are in their ports that are headed to Israel carrying military supplies, continuing to have diplomatic relations with Israel, continuing to have free trade agreements with Israel.
07:57So propping up Israel economically and militarily, even if they are not coming out and supporting Israel in their statements.
08:04You know, there are a lot of states that are examples of this. Spain is a great one. Its public statements have been really explicit about condemning the genocide, yet it continues to allow ships to dock in its ports, carrying military supplies and fuel to Israel, and it continues to buy weapons from Israel.
08:27However, there are states that have taken really bold actions. We can point to the Hague group, the member states, which have committed to stop allowing these transfers of military equipment and have agreed to some economic measures.
08:44But I think in particular, Colombia has with President Petro promising to introduce a uniting for peace resolution in the UN General Assembly, which would send a protective force to Palestine.
09:00This is the boldest step that has been taken by a state so far, except for Yemen, I guess we could say, which certainly is complying with its obligations under the Genocide Convention.
09:11And if Petro is to present this measure soon, there really is a chance that nations could come behind it and stop the genocide within a month.
09:22Referring to all this to the nations, you were mentioning that continue to supply weapons and to provide diplomatic support in the international arena to Israel.
09:29What is the moral and legal responsibility of this nation in the face of what is happening in Gaza?
09:34Well, the genocide is very clear that in the case of a genocide, which, as I mentioned, has been firmly determined by genocide experts.
09:43I mean, I could also bring up the the Association of Genocide Scholars that issued a statement a month or two ago affirming that this is a genocide by the UN itself.
09:54Under the genocide convention states that are parties to the genocide convention have an affirmative obligation to cut these ties, to stop sending military weapons and to actively intervene in the way that President Petro is proposing to stop the genocide.
10:13I mean, in this case, to militarily intervene.
10:14In this case, a protective force that would not be one that would be aiming to increase aggression, but rather merely to protect Palestinians and to open humanitarian corridors to ensure the safe passage and ongoing passage of aid.
10:32So states have a very clear obligation under the genocide convention and under international law to, you know, to not be complicit in a genocide.
10:43And now there's a concrete way that they can they can step up that those actions and really comply with that obligation.
10:51Thank you very much, Doctor, for your time here and from the south for all your inputs.
10:58Oh, it's our pleasure.

11:30Welcome back.
11:31We go live to Venezuela as thousands are mobilizing against the Israeli genocide on Palestine.
11:36As the Zionist offensive on the Gaza Strip reaches two years, the people of the capital,
11:42Caracas, are demonstrating to demand respect for the peace and sovereignty of Palestine
11:48and Venezuela.
11:49The rally began at the Francia Square in the Altamira neighborhood and will travel along
11:55Main Avenue Francisco de Miranda to reach the Palestinian Embassy.
12:02Similar marches are also being held in other states throughout the nation as Venezuelans
12:07reaffirm their support for the freedom and rights of Palestinians amid the ongoing Israeli
12:13aggression that today marks two years and have left devastating consequences for the Palestinian
12:18people.
12:23Also, Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro denounced a false flag operation planned by
12:31the National Far Right to justify any aggression by U.S. imperialism against the national territory.
12:37During his television program called Maduro Mas, the President reported that the state's
12:41security and intelligence agencies are continuing their investigations into those responsible
12:46for the false flag operation against the U.S. Embassy in Caracas.
12:51In this regard, President Maduro emphasized that the Venezuelan government guarantees the protection
12:55of the U.S. Embassy in full compliance with the Geneva Agreement, contrary to Washington's
13:01actions against the Venezuelan diplomatic headquarters on U.S. territory.
13:05In turn, the Venezuelan head of state reiterated Venezuela's position in defense of its sovereignty
13:11and territorial integrity in the face of any threat or attempt at aggression against the
13:16country.
13:18I don't know that the Argentine President Javier Millet performed a rock public presentation
13:27amid strong tensions between his supporters and detractors and the crisis in his Liberta
13:32Advances Party.
13:33With just 20 days to go before Argentina's days-level elections, the head of state gave a rock concert
13:38at Movistar Arena in Buenos Aires, where 15,000 people were gathered.
13:42Moreover, Millet took advantage of the concert to present his book, The Construction of a Miracle,
13:48honor figures like Donald Trump, Charlie Kirk, Jair Bolsonaro and support the Israeli government.
13:56The president embroiled in several scandals due to the links between his candidate for
14:00day stature, José Luis Esper, and drug trafficking, and ended the concert with insults against former
14:05president Cristina Fernández.
14:07And in Colombia, different political and social groups are condemning the violation of
14:18international humanitarian law committed by the United States through its military presence
14:22and attacks on ships in Caribbean waters under the pretext of fighting drug trafficking.
14:26The President of the United States has calmly stated that they are bombing all vessels approaching
14:51the coast of Venezuela without any caution.
15:00They could be fishermen, they could be tourists, they could be drug traffickers.
15:04International laws clearly require that the vessel be boarded first, and if there are real
15:08reasons to detain people, they cannot be shot or massacred.
15:18I believe this is a clear violation of international law, and a humanitarian law that cannot be accepted.
15:24From the legislature, some congressmen maintain that this strategy by the United States and its
15:35government aims not only to undermine the sovereignty of the region, but also to harass left-wing governments
15:41in the region, and warn about the repercussions for the territory.
15:45First, they need an excuse, and today the excuse is supposedly the attack on drug trafficking in
15:54the Caribbean Sea, when most of it takes place in the Pacific.
15:57They already have the excuse, now comes the military presence.
16:06They did it in the waters and they are even saying how they have done it in the Middle East and have
16:10destabilized that entire area, that there would be land intervention.
16:14In other words, the intervention of our sovereignty over this territory, and after they do that,
16:19the consolidation of coups against the political groups that are elected in the territories
16:22at that time.
16:28This is very worrying, and it is not just Venezuela, it is the region, and we all have to unite
16:32to prevent this intervention.
16:40For many, this United States policy is evidence of the internal decline that the country is
16:45experiencing, and of a government that seeks to maintain control over the region.
16:49It is clearly an excuse, a pretext to attack Latin American countries, especially Venezuela,
16:58to subjugate them, to threaten them.
17:00We don't know what he is going to do, but also to achieve its strategic interests in the
17:04region, to send a very clear message to Colombia and Venezuela, because it is also very confrontational
17:09with Petro.
17:10The actions of the United States are described as a threat in a strong statement by the head
17:20of Colombian diplomacy, who rejected the Trump administration's warfare tactics to combat
17:25drug trafficking, arguing that these people have always been seized and arrested without
17:29the need to kill them, actions that are part of a foreign policy that Colombia does not share.

18:17Welcome back.
18:18U.S. President Donald Trump has threatened to invoke a 200-year-old insurrection act in order
18:23to deploy troops to the states.
18:25More on the topic with our correspondent, Jorge Estoso.
18:31President Trump suggested that he could be ready to utilize the Insurrection Act, a law that
18:38has more than 200 years old, as an emergency measure to send troops all over the U.S. as
18:47a response to the difficulties that he's facing regarding legal procedures that are
18:53against the deployment of troops in Chicago and in Portland, and also the fact that he
19:00is definitely feeling the rejection of that deployment.
19:05He has said that Portland is a hole in fire that is an insurrection criminal going on there,
19:14even though the crime has gone down by 25%, and the governor of Illinois has reacted because
19:24the deployment of troops has been sent from Texas, 300 members of the National Guard.
19:32He said that that is an inconstitutional invasion, and also the only thing that creates, he said,
19:41to create intentionally chaos.
19:45And that President Trump is using intentionally the soldiers of the National Guard, he said,
19:51as desigable, as pawns in order to get political gain.
19:59The whole thing shows that the tension between the White House and the Democratic leaders are
20:07increasing, and therefore what we're going to be seeing in the next days is a continuation of this situation.
20:16We'll get back to you now.
20:19On Monday, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that he is consulting with the Department of Justice
20:23regarding a pardon for Ghislaine Maxwell, the accomplice of pedophile and sexual offender Jeffrey Einstein.
20:30This was announced at a press conference in the Oval Office, where Trump confirmed that he would be willing to consider the request for clemency.
20:38The families of the victims of the criminal Epstein have categorically rejected the U.S. President's claim,
20:44arguing that it would be an injustice to those who suffer from the crimes, and emphasized that granting Maxwell a pardon would more than confirm Trump's complicity with his friend Jeffrey Epstein.
20:55In 2021, Maxwell was found guilty of five charges, including child trafficking.
21:06And in Spain, four people are missing, and at least ten more were injured in Madrid on Tuesday when a building partly collapsed during construction work.
21:15Local authorities said the incident took place close to Plaza Mayor, a central square in the Spanish capital.
21:21Emergency Services added that the injured people were construction workers, one of whom was being treated in hospital for a leg fracture.
21:28The site was cold enough and neighboring buildings were evacuated as emergency teams continued on site to secure the area and find the missing workers.
21:35At least we have come to the end of this news, but if you can find this and many other stories on our website at TeleStoreEnglish.net, so join us on social media, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok.
