The operation ensures that taxi drivers working in the local area are licensed and their vehicles are safe.

00:00The Swansea and Neathport Talbot Police Licensing Team recently conducted Operation Nepsara,
00:05organised alongside Swansea Council's Taxi Licensing Team,
00:09which ensures that taxi drivers working in the local area are licensed
00:12and their vehicles are safe during Freshers' Week.
00:15The operation was conducted alongside colleagues from the Safer Roads Team,
00:19as well as taxi licensing teams from Swansea Council, Neathport Talbot Council and Newport City Council,
00:26plus the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency and Immigration Officers.
00:31A total of 30 vehicles were brought into the inspection area,
00:34with 22 vehicles stopped and checked out on the roads by the Safer Roads Team.
00:39Of the vehicles checked within the inspection area,
00:42three taxis were issued warnings for low tread and defects with lights.
00:46Four taxis were issued with stop notices and made to replace tyres and rectify defects on the spot
00:52before being allowed to resuming work as a taxi.
00:55One vehicle was taken off the road for having a broken suspension.
