00:02The Trump administration is reportedly preparing a multi-billion dollar aid package for farmers hit by the trade war.
00:09Reuters says it could total $15 billion.
00:12U.S. agriculture has been under pressure, from surging production costs and retaliatory tariffs,
00:18to labor shortages and plunging crop prices.
00:21The Agriculture Department estimates farm production expenses will hit $467 billion this year.
00:26That's $12 billion higher than last year.
00:30Farm bankruptcies in the first half of 2025 are the highest they've been since 2021.
00:35Now, the bailout could provide relief, but there is a catch.
00:38The ongoing government shutdown makes it difficult to release the funds without congressional approval.
00:43So, while farmers may soon get help, there might still be more pain in the heartland.
