00:00Hi, I'm Laura Reid, the Deputy Features Editor at the Yorkshire Post, and here's a look at what's coming up in the week ahead.
00:07A funeral service to remember the life of Dickie Bird will take place in his hometown of Barnsley on Sunday at St Mary's Church,
00:15and will be followed by a private family committal.
00:18The cricket umpiring legend was described by his sister as being Barnsley through and through, following his death at the age of 92 last month.
00:27Dickie was awarded the Freedom of the Borough of Barnsley in 2000, and was a favourite with cricket fans for his no-nonsense nature and sense of humour.
00:36He's considered a sporting national treasure.
00:40Elsewhere, the Women of the Year Awards will take place in London on October 13th.
00:45This is an invitation-only event that was established more than 70 years ago, and it's described as an opportunity to celebrate game-changing women.
00:54More than 400 women across the country have been invited to the event, with achievements in everything from sports to social change, as well as construction and cancer care.
01:09In music, earlier this year, the Sheffield-formed pop band Pulp, Irish singer Seamat and singer-songwriter Sam Fender were announced as being among the artists whose albums have been nominated for the 2025 Mercury Prize.
01:26The winner is due to be announced at an awards ceremony in Newcastle on October 16th this week.
01:33The prize has been running now since 1992, and it aims to champion the album format, as well as new music in the UK and Ireland across an eclectic range of genres.
01:45And finally, the International Monetary Fund is due to publish its World Economic Outlook on October 14th.
01:53It will present, analyse and explore issues within the world economy, considering things that are affecting advanced, emerging and developing economies around the globe, and looking ahead to what might be to come.
