iPhone 17 Air Unboxing and Review
Transcript
00:00This is the iPhone Air, not the iPhone 17 Air, it's just the Air. I don't know what they're
00:11going to do down the line, but for the time being, here it is. The first gen iPhone Air.
00:19Look at this. This is the sky blue color. The thing about the iPhone Air colors is they do
00:25look very similar. So there's the sky blue, there's a silver, a light gold, and then the black.
00:28This is something that you can't even explain. It's such a small and thin phone. Look at this.
00:35When I hold it sideways, it basically disappears. So here's the camera bump, and of course it does
00:39only have the one single lens. It's so cool to see Apple do something a little bit different than
00:44all of their previous phones. So light, so seamless. Look how thin. Now comparing the Air to the 17 Pro
00:51Max, look at this size difference. They made this additional battery pack to help increase the
00:57battery life. Now this is specifically for the Air. It's super thin, super low profile MagSafe
01:03directly on the back of the iPhone Air. Look at that. It's so thin. Now I wish that this would
01:08work with the other devices, but it doesn't. They made it so thin to fit perfectly on the Air.
01:13So sadly, on any of the other devices, doesn't quite fit.
01:17Thank you to dbrand for partnering with me on a portion of this video to showcase their new
01:22tank air case for the iPhone Air. You can see that it's super industrial, and this thing has been key
01:27when we've been out shooting our reviews. I've had this thing in and out of my bags. It makes it so
01:31much easier to grip, and I love that it has this option to buy some customizable buttons. So of course,
01:37I had to go with the pink, and they look so cute. This will also fit with your MagSafe battery,
01:42so you can add that on as well. I even paired this case with one of their Prism screen protectors,
01:47which are so easy to install. So now, no fear, iPhone Air is here. If you want to get $10 off
01:54a tank case, there's a link in my description, no code required. So I'm going to test out the Air
01:58and see how it does in some low light situations. There's some beautiful landscape. I don't have my
02:02ultra wide lens, but honestly, for up here for filming and shooting the landscape, like I was not
02:07missing the ultra wide lens. So I'm going to take a photo at 1x, another at 2x. It does kind of give
02:15you the effect of three lenses, because if you chop the 1x, that'll give you a 35 millimeter.
02:21And we do have a digital zoom up to 10x, so if you really got to zoom in on something,
02:25like it's possible. It may be a little bit blurry because of the digital zoom,
02:30but you can still get in there. Let's see how the video works. All right, so we're at 1x,
02:342x, 6x digital zoom and video. You can shoot up to 60 frames. I'm quite partial to 30 when I'm
02:41shooting iPhone content. Yeah, looks good. So what is it? What can it do? Is it that light? Yes,
02:46it absolutely is. It is so small. Like, it's as thin as the USB-C port. It's about as thin as four
02:54or five credit cards. Hmm, how many credit cards did I say? Four? I think I might need another one.
02:59It's about five. Okay, maybe five and a half. Actually six. It's about six. And it looks like
03:05it's almost half the size of the iPhone 17 Pro. Apple actually had to 3D print titanium to make
03:11this work. And that's the first time they've ever done anything like that for iPhone. So this little
03:15guy is 5.6 millimeters thin. It's only 165 grams. That's the same weight as three AA batteries or a
03:23deck of cards. It's pretty accurate. And somehow it still packs a 6.5 inch display and a Pro class
03:28chip. Apple basically made a statement piece that you can text on. The design is really the headline
03:33here. This frame is grade five titanium. That's aerospace grade. And there's a new plateau on the
03:38back that's precision milled to hold the camera, speaker, and Apple silicon. This let Apple open up
03:44more space inside for the battery while keeping the whole phone so thin. The front gets ceramic shield
03:48two, which Apple says is three times more scratch resistant. And the back is protected by ceramic
03:53shield. And it's rated 4x better for crack resistance than the previous back glass. So this
03:57is the Air. We thought we would take pictures of planes because obviously airplane, iPhone Air. It does
04:03have one lens. You don't have a lot of zoom. You've got the 1x. You've got the 2x. There's no ultra wide
04:08and not a lot of telephoto. But the photos and videos are still turning out really cool.
04:13So we're taking some photos and some videos with the Air. Now this does not do spatial video. It
04:22also does not do cinematic. And of course it doesn't shoot in ProRes or ProRes RAW. I think I'm going to
04:26take some photos first. I'm going to test out the new center stage camera. And it's great because I
04:31can keep it vertical. I can shoot both horizontal and vertical just by tapping the button. So I can
04:35be fast. The other cool thing is I can turn this on auto. I can turn auto zoom, auto rotate. So when I
04:41now want to take a photo with Nathan. Oh, there it is. Okay. There it is. Oh, there it goes. There it goes.
04:46Okay. Ready? Okay. So here I am. Zooms back in. Ah, there it goes. There you are. Planes coming.
04:55Planes coming. Okay. Get ready. Get ready. Get ready. Get ready. Get ready.
05:02Oh my gosh. And the live photo was on. So this is so silly. You can see the plane just flying right
05:07through my head. Now at the announcements, Apple actually took us into this room and they showed us
05:20a stress test of how they test these phones. And they bent it with up to 130 pounds of forts. And it
05:26bent slightly. But then as soon as they took it back out, it basically like reformed itself. Now just
05:31because this phone is small, it doesn't mean that the camera quality suffers. Apple gave this the new
05:3518 megapixel center stage front camera and the 48 megapixel fusion main camera with 2X optical
05:40quality telephoto. This is all the same tech that you're going to find in the pro and the 17.
05:45One thing that I am sad that it doesn't have is an ultra wide lens, which I feel like I take a lot
05:50of ultra wide photos. And when I was testing out the iPhone 16E, there were some times that I wanted to
05:55shoot ultra wide and that also doesn't have ultra wide. So I do feel like if you're someone who relies
06:00heavily on that, you're going to really miss it. The display is a 6.5 inch super retina XDR. It's got
06:05promotion. So it ramps up to 120 hertz for scrolling and gaming and then drops down to one hertz for the
06:10always on display to save the battery. It's so light. I just got done gaming on the iPhone 17 Pro Max and
06:17then picking up this tiny air. So slippery. I just downloaded Delta Force. I've never played this before.
06:23It's of attack and defense. Hold on. I need to pause and say something before we get into this
06:27because I already noticed this only has one speaker. So when you're gaming or listening to music, it will
06:32sound a little bit different. It's crazy how you don't know what you've got until you don't have it
06:36anymore. It's a good life lesson for you. Now inside is Apple's A19 Pro. Six core CPU with the fastest
06:45smartphone cores and a five core GPU that has neural accelerators built into every GPU core. But what does
06:51that even mean? It means this little guy has Apple intelligence, smooth graphics, and yes, it is built
06:56for AAA mobile games. There's also a new N1 wireless chip for Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread, and Apple's
07:03C1X modem, which is both faster and more power efficient than last year. Day-to-day stuff like
07:07AirDrop, reliability, personal hotspot, streaming feels instantly responsive. Battery life. This is where
07:13we need to chat. Apple reworked the internal layout to prioritize battery volume in this thin chassis.
07:18And with the chip efficiency and iOS 26's adaptive power mode, it's an easy all-day phone. Apple rates
07:25it up to 27 hours of video playback on the air. This iPhone is eSIM only universally, and I actually
07:31love eSIM for travel. So now you can add a local plan digitally, keep your home number active, and not
07:36worry about a physical SIM. Now, even with how small this thing is, I would have thought maybe they
07:41would do away with some of the buttons, but no, we have the action button. And of course, we do have the
07:46camera control button. So you can obviously set the action button for things like silent mode,
07:51translate, or add a shortcut. Now you do have four color combinations. You have space black,
07:55cloud white, light gold, and I've got the sky blue. The colors are very similar. Like I actually
07:59forgot that I had sky blue, and I would have thought that this is silver, depending upon the
08:03lights. It's very, very subtle. Storage starts at 256, then 512, and one terabyte. And as for the price,
08:10it's 999. All in all, it is a really beautiful device, and I've loved testing out. I cannot wait
08:15until all of the phones are actually this small, but yet have the same tech packed into those pro
08:20phones. It's going to be incredible. This is a great start, and I'm excited to see what you guys
08:25think. I have two other videos covering the 17 and the pro phone, so be sure to go check those out
08:29as well. I'll see you guys in the next one. Bye-bye.
