Egypt hosts new round of talks to resolve Gaza crisis and free hostages #News

Negotiators are expected to arrive in Egypt on Monday for talks centered on the release of hostages held by Hamas in Gaza and a comprehensive end to the war, according to recent reporting from The Guardian. LiveNOW’s Austin Westfall is joined by Hal Kempfer, a Retired Marine Intelligence Officer and National Security Analyst, as an end to the war appears to still be on the table.

This comes after Hamas said on Friday that it has accepted some elements of President Donald Trump's plan to end the war in the Gaza Strip. This reportedly includes relinquishing power and releasing any remaining hostages.

"This is a big day," Trump said in a video released Friday evening from the Oval Office. "We’ll see how it all turns out. We have to get the final word down in concrete."

"An Agreement must be reached with Hamas by Sunday Evening at SIX (6) P.M., Washington, D.C. time," Trump wrote last week on social media. "Every Country has signed on! If this LAST CHANCE agreement is not reached, all HELL, like no one has ever seen before, will break out against Hamas. THERE WILL BE PEACE IN THE MIDDLE EAST ONE WAY OR THE OTHER."

00:00It's coming through right now. It is Portugal, Spain. So, yeah, it's Portugal, not Spain.
00:09So, I'm hearing that we're seeing the people that were a part of that flotilla,
00:15they're returning home after their efforts. The camera's not on some of the, I believe there are
00:24some demonstrators here that are a part of this media scrum, if you will. The reason why I show
00:28this, Hal, is because I want to ask the question that might be on some people's mind relating to
00:33this flotilla. Did it have any tangible impact whatsoever on Gaza? Zero. Nothing. It didn't
00:42get anything in there. And here's the thing. Gaza is an occupied zone, all right? That is, you know,
00:50I mean, look, it's not a sovereign state. It doesn't have internationally recognized status,
00:57although some countries have said they were.
