00:30Hello, everyone.
00:38Something for everyone.
01:00Throughout the film, the actors had to perform to basically nothing.
01:06There was no character actually there.
01:08We'd rehearse the shot with a puppet, usually a stand-in stuffy,
01:13and then for the actual take, the actor would have to play against nothing.
01:17So here you're seeing Gina on the final pass of just kissing the air,
01:22and later that's where we'll put Stuart.
01:33After we've recreated the camera and the computer, we can then add Stuart in.
01:38This is a very simple model of Stuart for the animator to begin
01:42what are just basically character sketches,
01:45and these are key poses to give the director and Henry Anderson,
01:49the animation supervisor, a feeling of what his performance would be.
01:55And the gray-shaded object in the foreground is actually the sheet cover,
02:00and we have to model all those things to really give an animator
02:03the feel of the environment that they're putting Stuart in.
02:12A critical part of putting the mouse in any given scene
02:15is matching the lighting and compositing.
02:17That means making the mouse fit over and under the pieces of the scene
02:21that are appropriate.
02:22In this case, as you can see,
02:24we have Stuart's head moving out of shadow into light,
02:26and we have the light sources positioned so they reflect in his eye
02:29in a way that's appropriate to the light that's striking Gina in the bed around him.
02:33We also have Stuart behind the blanket in the foreground,
02:36and his hands move over the top of it.
02:38We distorted the surface of that blanket,
02:41gave it little dents in order to fit him in to the scene
02:43in a more realistic fashion.
02:45Thank you very much for listening to the scene of the scene of the scene of the scene of the scene of the scene of the scene of the scene of the scene of the scene of the scene of the scene of the scene of the scene of the scene of the scene of the scene of the scene of the scene of the scene of the scene of the scene of the scene of the scene of the scene of the scene of the scene of the scene of the scene of the scene of the scene of the scene of the scene of the scene of the scene of the scene of the scene of the scene of the scene of the scene of the scene of the scene of the scene of the scene of the scene of the scene of the scene of the scene of the scene of the scene of the scene of the scene of the scene of the scene of the scene of the scene of the scene of the scene of the scene of the scene of the scene of the scene of the scene of the scene of the scene of the scene of the scene of the scene of the scene of the scene of the scene of the
