Ex Chelsea Footballer Jody Morris discusses his boxing influences and how everyone fighting in the charity event deserves credit for just getting in the ring
00:00Like I said, I was fortunate enough that I'd had some friends in the boxing game and being around people of elite sport, no matter if it's boxing or anything else, it's always something that I've cherished and realised that I was very fortunate to be in a room with some people.
00:14And it would just be another one of those where you're like, if you're seeing people in the fight game mixing with footballers on a night, I mean, that's just something I think there's mutual respect from fighters towards footballers.
00:26And it's actually how me and Dale became mates anyway, that he's a Chelsea fan and obviously I'm a boxing fan.
00:32And all of a sudden I was at his fight for the European title ringside in 2013, I think it was.
00:38So, yeah, I think knowing that we're going into a sport that is as brutal and as tough as it is, I think the fighters automatically give us respect because some people won't even get in the ring.
00:50There's people that have maybe said that they do it and then the closer it gets, there's all of a sudden pull out.
00:56So I think we all deserve credit for that, the fact that we're going to be getting in the ring.
01:00And like I said, there are some people that I think when they start the training could all of a sudden then be like, oh, this is, we maybe need to, we maybe need to do a U-turn here and stop it.
01:11But like I said, it'll be a great night. I think there'll be some fantastic people in the room, fantastic performers and hopefully we'll have a hell of a night all together.
