00:00When you stop playing, unless you find something to replicate the kind of
00:06fitness that you've been used to playing high-level football, it's quite difficult.
00:11Very aerobic fitness is what football is and boxing is similar but I'd say it's
00:18even more intense as a whole body aerobic fitness than what football is
00:23because you're using different parts of the body. So it's been
00:27ultra it's been it's been ultra tough it's been ultra tough but it's been so
00:30refreshing to feel like working the body up and the mind as well. The body is one
00:37thing but getting your mind back in tune and and just feeling the whole aspect of
00:44just being fit again. I feel so much fitter than I did maybe six months ago and
00:50that can only be a good thing.
00:52Can I just ask on the mental side of things and probably the more strength that you have
00:57having from that side. Obviously there's a huge thing across football across all sports about men's mental health.
01:04How would you say going into doing such intense training again has like helped you with that mental strength side?
01:12Massively. From a personal point of view massively. I struggled a lot with mental health coming up when I came out of football.
01:18I stopped with an Achilles injury. I had a double retro with my Achilles and stopped at 33 and I thought I probably could have played
01:25for another four or five years. So that was tough. And then trying to find something else to
01:33that gives you the buzz and to replicate what you was involved in is also tough.
01:40So the boxing training as a whole, I think it just helps your well-being first of all.
01:48You don't even have to be a sports person or sports woman to enjoy boxing and see that boxing actually does good things for you
01:55like kids' box and it's good for discipline. But the mental health side of it I think is a huge one that people
02:03actually overlook that it can help. Just being active, punching a punch bag, punching some mitts, what it can do for you.
02:10What it can do for your endorphins, you release so much stuff that gets built up inside your body, inside your mind.
02:19So yeah, it's just been so beneficial I think just for the mental side of things as well.
02:24After this event, do you think you're going to stick to the boxing sort of training?
02:28100%, 100%. It's something I've really enjoyed. I didn't actually realise how much I actually enjoyed it.
02:36and how much... I'd be going home to my missus after training and she'd be just like,
02:41the mood is just so much better and you just, it's like you've got an excitement in you
02:49because you've been doing something that you enjoy and so it has a lot to say for boxing.
02:54It can really boost your mood. So it's definitely something I will carry on doing and
03:00and I'm sure my missus wants me to carry on, carry on doing like if I'm coming home from work
03:06and I'm happier because it's going to be a good film career. So yeah, definitely will.
