00:05Victoria's High Country on Friday, October 3rd, 2025. The bodies of the women were found together
00:12near a remote hut at Nelsa, 400 kilometres northeast from Melbourne. Their deaths are
00:19not being treated as suspicious. Temperatures in the area where they were found had dropped
00:24to minus 2.8 degrees with winds of up to 83 kilometres per hour. A recovery operation was
00:32conducted on Saturday and police say they are still working to identify the women so that they
00:38may contact their next of kin. Yeah of course anybody you know traversing the hill we always ask them to
00:43be adequately equipped adequately prepared and certainly to let people know when they're entering
00:47the mountainous area. There are intentions books that are maintained at the base of the mountains
00:54where you can start your trail. It is always wise to enter some details in there and advise accordingly.
01:01They may have been there for the last two to three days which is why you know we ask the public if
01:06you've been up on top of the hill in the last two to three days, if you've been hiking in that area
01:10and you saw anybody that looked a little bit disorientated, maybe not dressed adequately for
01:15the conditions, we'd certainly be very very keen to hear from anybody that might have information
01:20and they can do that by contacting Crimestoppers.
