00:00Sometimes you got to go through hell to get out the other side.

00:04People like Kevin and Mary, a bus driver and a teacher,

00:06do not wake up that day thinking,

00:08oh, today something may happen where I'm cornered

00:11and I'm going to do the right thing.

00:12I don't think that's how it usually happens.

00:14It's one right choice after another.

00:16And if you get out of it, you can be deemed a hero.

00:20What happens uniquely in this film,

00:22and what was unique for me as a performer,

00:24is Kevin makes the first decision he's made

00:28in a long time in his life to U-turn the bus,

00:31instead of taking it to maintenance like he's supposed to do,

00:34and to evacuate his mother and son who can't drive.

00:36That's a big decision he makes.

00:38But 30 seconds after I had to make that decision,

00:40a call comes through dispatch saying,

00:42I got 23 stranded, stranded kids on the east side of town.

00:45Does anyone have an empty bus over there?

00:47And the agony of waiting for someone else to pick up that call,

00:51for someone else to be able to do it,

00:53to have those two massive decisions put back to back.

00:57I've never been in a film where I had to do a 180,

01:00and then 30 seconds later, do another 180.

01:02He does not want to pick up that mic and go,

01:04I got it.

01:05But he does.

01:06He's been on a few safaris,

01:07and one of the main things I've noticed is how the gazelle,

01:10no matter how many leopards are on her tail or have her cornered,

01:14even if injured, they get away 95% of the time.

01:17So the will to survive is monumental.

01:20And I think what happens with Kevin in this story is,

01:23where he gets the will or takes the action to say,

01:26yeah, we're probably going to die,

01:27but I'm not going to lay here and die.

01:29We're going to drive down the throat of the dragon that is this fire.

01:33That is this fire.
