Hamas agrees to peace plan but will not disarm before Israeli 'occupation' ends

Hamas said on Oct 3 that it will agree to the peace plan in Gaza brokered by the United States, but added that the group will not disarm before the Israeli "occupation" ends.  This was welcomed by the Arab nations, including Qatar and Egypt as well as the United Nations while US President Donald Trump said they are "very close" to to ending the Israel-Hamas war and achieving peace in the Middle East. 00:00Hamas on Friday said it will agree to some of the terms in the U.S.-brokered peace plan

00:07to end the Hamas-Israel war in Gaza, including releasing all Israeli hostages and Palestinian

00:13war prisoners.

00:19This was the first official response from Hamas to the 20-point plan after the U.S. administration

00:24gave Hamas until Sunday to accept or reject the proposal that had already been agreed

00:29to by Israel.

00:31Senior Hamas official Musa Abu Marzouk told Al Jazeera that the group will not disarm before

00:37the Israeli occupation ends.

00:40The issues that Hamas, the women among Hamas, 90 percent of their capability, they destroyed

00:49it.

00:50And there is nothing good with Hamas talking about women.

00:55Second thing, we, since the beginning of this conflict, we told every mediator and everybody

01:03there, Hamas resists the occupation.

01:08And if the occupation ends and the Palestinians control themselves and there is a Palestinian

01:14state, Hamas no longer going to have any kind of weapon.

01:19That means they're going to receive all, they sent all of their capabilities to the Palestinian

01:25authority.

01:26That's what we said from the beginning.

01:30We don't need the weapon if there is no occupation.

01:35The Arab nations, including Qatar and Egypt, as well as the United Nations, welcomed the latest

01:41development in the peace settlement for the war that has been going on for almost two years.

01:46The Qatari foreign ministry said the government has begun coordination with Egypt and the U.S.

01:52to continue talks on the peace plan.

01:54U.S. President Donald Trump thanked Arab leaders for their help.

01:58So many people fought so hard.
