00:00This has been a devastating anti-Semitic terrorist attack on our Jewish community here in Manchester.
00:07I want to pay tribute to all of the people that were at the scene yesterday, the worshippers and people in the community who were able to prevent the attacker from entering the synagogue.
00:18They put their own lives at risk and it is undoubtedly the case that they saved many lives yesterday.
00:23I also want to thank the police and emergency services for the speed of their response because from the moment they took the call to the attacker being shot dead it was seven minutes so that also undoubtedly saved many more lives.
00:37My thoughts are with the victims and the families of those who have been murdered.
00:41We have increased police resource here in Manchester but also across the country around our synagogues and other communal institutions for the Jewish community
00:52and we are monitoring that regularly. I'm working very closely with the police but I want the community to know we're doing everything we can to keep them safe
01:00and also to make sure that the investigation into this attack carries on at pace.
