00:08That is the sort of enduring takeaway, for me anyway, of spending many years looking at her work,

00:14reading through all of her letters and archives and feeling like I really know her at this point.

00:22I think her immense sensitivity to her subjects, her ability to translate those experiences

00:28in profound and humane ways, has resulted in extraordinarily poetic, tender, impactful images

00:39that continue to feel relevant and exciting and fresh to contemporary audiences.

00:46I think she really understood, perhaps because of her history as a model herself,

00:52what it meant to be on the other side of a camera and that fluidity with which she moved

00:56from both model to photographer, created an immense skill and talent for these haunting,

01:06poetic, powerful images that continue to feel as if they could have been taken yesterday.
