00:04Hardline is an American glam metal band founded in 1991 by Johnny and Joey Joely.
00:11The band had their biggest success in 1992 with Journey guitarist Neil Sean and the song
00:17Hot Cherie. After the Joely brothers left the band Brunette, they formed Hardline in Los Angeles in
00:231991. The band originally also included guitarist Neil Sean of Journey and Bad English,
00:30bassist Todd Jensen, and drummer Dean Castronovo. They were heavily influenced by the AOR and glam
00:36metal of the late 80s and had good prospects for success. The experienced and well-known lineup
00:41brought the band enormous attention and their debut album, Double Eclipse, was a huge success.
00:47The band toured with Mr. Big and Extreme, delivered strong live performances, and even released three
00:54music videos, something virtually no glam metal band did in 1992. Their songs were catchy,
01:00complex, and had a distinctive sound. Johnny Joely's powerful voice harmonized perfectly with
01:06Neil's guitar, and the band managed to cover a wide spectrum with their album.
01:12However, even before a planned tour of Japan, creative differences arose within the band between
01:17Sean and the Joely brothers, and at the same time, Hardline lost their record deal due to changes in the
01:23music industry. The band broke up in 1992. In 1999, the band reformed and released their second studio
01:31album, 2, in 2002, which included some demos from Double Eclipse. Shortly after its release,
01:39Joey Joely left the band, making Johnny the only remaining active founding member. Today,
01:44Hardline is primarily composed of Italian musicians and has released seven studio albums to date.
