John Mousinho's verdict on Pompey draw with Watford

00:00For safety in the second half, end-to-end, are you disappointed considering you played so well first half just to get a point in this game?

00:09Yeah, I think that it's one of those, you know, both clubs will come away, both their coaches will come away and think,

00:14well, it's just two points dropped, definitely on performance in the first half.

00:18It's hard to judge the second half because we gave ourselves amounts to kind of shoot ourselves in the foot and everything that we spoke about.

00:25It fills overall on the performance and how much pressure we created that we should have won the game,

00:33so we deserved to hope we should have won the game, and it's a little bit of a frustrating one.

00:39Considering how well you played the first half as well, we frustrated you didn't go in more than one goal in the half-time.

00:45Yeah, and we got ourselves in some really good positions, obviously got the goal early on,

00:51and, yeah, created some good opportunities for ourselves to be a little bit better,

00:56and I think that's a big progression for this side.

00:58And we did it a lot against Sheffield Wednesday, got ourselves in some great areas but didn't create chances,

01:02got ourselves in some great areas again tonight, and it was a bit more positive,

01:05and obviously we've come away with two goals, which is great, but we need to keep going away.

01:08How much did those early two goals in the second half impact your team?

01:13Well, it definitely impacted the game, we had to make changes after that to try and change the game plan,

01:20obviously the game plan wasn't to concede as early as we did.

01:23So, yeah, we had to make those changes at that point, it was great to be able to bring the likes of Adrian off the bench,

01:29and it was a good scene after that as well.

01:31You weren't creating too much though until that equalised, were you?

01:34Yeah, I guess we had a fair amount of the ball, Swiftie had the chance just before that,

01:40but, yeah, we got the ball into some good areas wide, but naturally if you go 2-1 down,

01:46all of a sudden, I remember sort of early on in the second half when it was 1-1,

01:51we were getting Min Hyuk 1v1 with the right side of centre-half Max Eleni,

01:55and then when Watford went a goal to the good, all of a sudden the right wing back drops in,

02:00very athletic, very good defensively, and we were 1v1 up against him because they dropped in,

02:05and they made it difficult for us, which is fine.

02:07So, yeah, different proposition in terms of trying to create and trying to be better.

02:12You said the other day that you think Yang was close to being at his best,

02:15he was superb that first half.

02:17Yeah, I mean, for the very first thing he did, Regan punched the ball out to him,

02:21he took it on the back foot and ended up getting their right-sided centre-half books

02:26because he brought him down, and, yeah, we have seen that from Min Hyuk in training,

02:30obviously I've seen that from him last year.

02:32He's a bit more positive, he's got a bit more confidence about his game,

02:35and, you know, we saw him for 90 minutes here against Leeds Reading,

02:38and he did some nice things, but probably got caught up and went backwards too much,

02:44and, yeah, we want him attacking full-backs, attacking centre-half when he can,

02:48and, you know, ultimately when you take your chance, he didn't take his chance Saturday,

02:51put himself in a good position, didn't take it, he took his chance tonight, and that was great.

02:54What was I thinking of bringing him off?

02:56Well, I thought that he, first of all, hasn't played,

02:59hasn't had back-to-back starts for a long, long time,

03:02I'm not even sure he had it last year with QPR,

03:04hasn't had that full pre-season, so it was more of a physical memory.

03:07Because he's playing well enough, isn't he?

03:09Yeah, and, again, it was just, you know, when we got that five-power off the bench,

03:13it was good to bring Harden in and Sexton.

03:15Basically just looking after him rather than his performance.

03:18Oh, yeah, it wasn't performance-based with Mindy.

03:21We're asking a huge amount from everybody in the team, but our wingers as well.

03:25And then Adrian Segisic as well.

03:27He's not been at it the last couple of games,

03:29but today it's a bit magic, really, wasn't he?

03:31Yeah, he's always got that impact and he's got the magic,

03:34and he touched the ball in the back of the net,

03:36and he's made a name for himself over Australia doing that,

03:39and he's starting to make a name for himself here.

03:41Obviously Adrian would have wanted to start the game,

03:44but I love the impact that he had coming up.
