Transcript
00:00On a bright Sunday in Rubavu, the public beach is alive with laughter, music and families.
00:12Tourists from all over the world also flock here to enjoy the Nyamimba hot springs.
00:17Locals have turned it into a wellness experience, from lakeside massages to healing socks.
00:23It is for relaxing, relaxation, just to forget about the daily business and all the stress that you accumulate in the big cities.
00:35I had a very stressful two weeks. I had malaria. So when I came here, I was very exhausted.
00:41And now I feel incredibly de-stressed and relaxed.
00:44And I went to other hot springs, for instance, in the Azores Islands in Portugal.
00:48But they didn't have the massage and they didn't have the mud bath.
00:52So this feels, it's so good for my skin, for my whole body, for my whole spirit, yes.
00:59Lake Kivu is a natural wonder, one of the only three lakes in the world at risk of rare gas eruptions.
01:06While scientists monitor it and methane extractions continues, locals like Desiree say the lakes hold springs and surrounding beaches are now a top draw.
01:16People come and they visit, they pay interest fees, then they come, we explain for them how water this come, what is benefit, which mineral are there.
01:26But if you like, you get in, you bath, you swim on it. But if you want also have extra service like massage.
