00:00Hi there!
00:01This is the TH sound, as in the words thing, think and through.
00:14The TH sound comes from the consonant pairs group and is called the voiceless dental fricative.
00:24This means that you create friction between the tongue and the top teeth.
00:29The TH sound is made through the mouth and is unvoiced, which means you don't use your
00:34vocal cords to make the sound.
00:36It is defined by the position of your tongue and teeth.
00:41It is a fricative sound which is made by high pressure air flow going between a narrow space
00:47in the mouth.
00:49In this case it is the space between the tip of your tongue and the top teeth.
00:55To produce the sound, you have to stick your tongue out a little bit.
00:59This can feel very unnatural to some people who aren't used to it.
01:03But it is essential to produce the sound correctly.
01:08So rest your top teeth on your tongue and then force air out through the teeth.
01:21The TH sound is normally spelled with the letters TH, as in the words three, something, month and both.
01:38Here are some words that begin with the TH sound.
