01:48So shiny.
01:49On Saturday night,
01:50it was lights, camera, action

01:53What a night it was.

02:20Right.
02:21No time to waste.
02:22Let's see which of our divine duos
02:24are on our sofa tonight.
02:25Ooh.
02:27Amber and Nikita's last few days
02:29were a bit like a Craig David song.
02:31Got the call on Thursday,
02:32rehearsed on Friday,
02:33performed on Saturday,
02:34and chilled on Sunday.
02:36But they're spending their Monday night
02:38chatting to us
02:38all about the whirlwind weekends.
02:41Alex and Johannes
02:42brought the house down
02:43with their steamy Viennese waltz
02:45that flowed like a river.
02:46But was Craig right
02:47to only give it a four?
02:49We'll be asking them
02:49whether they were undermarked.
02:51Harry and Karen
02:52hit the gym,
02:53pushed it,
02:54and pulled off a dance
02:55we won't forget
02:56anytime soon.
02:57We'll be working out
02:58how they plan
02:59to go one step further
03:00on the back
03:01of this epic cha-cha.
03:03And she's lovingly known
03:04as it takes two's third wheel.
03:06Joanne Clifton is here
03:07for the return
03:08of Choreography Corner.
03:12But first,
03:13strap yourself in
03:14as we recap
03:14the first live show
03:15of the series.
03:16And where else
03:17but Strictly
03:17would you be able
03:18to find a neon gym,
03:20a yellow card,
03:20and a pink pony?
03:22Yes, I ain't horsing around.
03:24Ay.
03:26Welcome
03:26to Strictly Come Dancing
03:29and the first live show.
03:33Beautiful footwork.
03:34I mean,
03:34you're setting the bar
03:35for sure.
03:37There's energy
03:38like dynamite.
03:41You're very good,
03:42darling.
03:44Sorry, Tess,
03:45I want to have
03:46lots of good crack.
03:46Will you put on
03:47proper up your breath?
03:50Let me tell you,
03:51you've got a viral
03:52moment in there.
03:53You moved.
03:53Oh!
03:54Oh!
03:55Oh!
03:57You moved beautifully.
03:59Welcome
03:59to your baby child.
04:01Oh!
04:01That was full
04:04of intent.
04:08I love this.
04:09It's spectacular.
04:09I've got a bath
04:10that matches.
04:11You should speak.
04:12Perfect.
04:12There's a lot to light.
04:15There was a lot
04:15that went wrong,
04:16but I think you'll do fine.
04:18There was some timing issues
04:20and it's a little bit
04:21clunky in the heels.
04:23It's week one.
04:24It's a Samba.
04:25You gave it your best.
04:26Keep going.
04:28There was more
04:28Tin Soldier
04:29than it was
04:30Matador,
04:31I'm afraid.
04:31You were absolutely
04:35shining.
04:36You're like a bright star.
04:39You have
04:39amazing potential.
04:42It was just
04:43sensational.
04:44Best dance
04:45of the night for me.
04:48Welcome to the show.
04:50I didn't know
04:50this was going to be
04:51my Saturday night.
04:55Please welcome
04:56Amber and the Keyser.
04:58We'll get on
04:59to Saturday
04:59in just a moment,
05:00but before we do,
05:01last week was a bit wild.
05:03Can you just
05:03talk us through
05:04that 24 hours
05:05before you were
05:05announced, Amber?
05:06Okay.
05:07I had a phone call
05:08Thursday night
05:09and Friday morning,
05:11nine o'clock,
05:12I was in the rehearsal
05:14room with Nikita.
05:15Wild.
05:16Wild.
05:16Really wild.
05:17And then we just
05:18had to have like
05:19a crash course
05:20bonding session,
05:21didn't we?
05:22Yeah, well...
05:22Asking each other
05:23second names
05:24and things like that.
05:25What's your favourite colour?
05:26Yeah, just learning
05:27how to even pronounce
05:27dancing the waltzes.
05:28Amber...
05:29Amber what?
05:30I was like,
05:30Davies.
05:31I'm a Davies, okay.
05:32And I know you're
05:33a Capricorn.
05:34Yes.
05:35And I'm a...
05:37Don't say that.
05:37So it's going well.
05:38Libra.
05:39Libra.
05:39Libra.
05:40Yes.
05:41It's going really well, guys.
05:41Buddy listens.
05:42Yeah, yeah, yeah.
05:42I can see that.
05:43So you've obviously
05:44had some dance experience
05:45before, but you've never
05:45done Latin or ballroom.
05:47How much do you think
05:48your musicality helped
05:49you through this routine?
05:51Musicality helped a lot.
05:53You know, I can...
05:54I can hear the music.
05:55I can feel the music.
05:58It was the technique aspect
06:01where we didn't have time
06:03to think about heel and toe.
06:07It's going to be literally
06:08the only time I ever
06:09going to say to any
06:10of my students,
06:12don't worry about the heels.
06:13Heels don't matter now.
06:14Let's just get any routine on.
06:17Let's just get the frame
06:18and let's keep going.
06:19It all changes from here.
06:20Ballroom and Latin
06:21are worlds apart
06:22from what I've experienced
06:24on a West End stage.
06:25You know,
06:25it's completely different techniques.
06:28You smashed it, though.
06:29You smashed it.
06:29A lot harder
06:30than I thought it was going to be.
06:32Really?
06:32Yeah.
06:32Oh, yeah.
06:33It's only a weak one.
06:34I know.
06:34It's only a weak one.
06:35Buckle up.
06:36So Nikita,
06:36this wasn't even the dance
06:37that you were planning
06:37to do with Danny.
06:38No, not at all.
06:38So how did you just
06:39whip up a waltz
06:40in like two seconds?
06:41Yeah.
06:41No, honestly,
06:46I was just happy
06:48to be able to be part
06:50of the best show on telly
06:51because obviously
06:52it was so, so gutting
06:53all of this happening
06:55and I would have whipped out
06:57whatever you want me
06:58to whip out
06:58at that moment
06:59just to be,
07:00just to come back
07:02to Strictly, baby.
07:03I'm ready to do
07:04whatever you want.
07:06And have you caught up
07:06with Danny
07:07and asked how she's doing?
07:08I did.
07:09And Danny, honestly,
07:10she's such a lovely,
07:11lovely human.
07:12I was trying to go back
07:14to her and check on her
07:14and she kept just telling me,
07:16don't worry about me.
07:17I'm okay.
07:18You just have
07:19this beautiful journey
07:19with Danny.
07:20You deserve it.
07:21And it's honestly,
07:22for me,
07:22it's really hard
07:22to switch off that.
07:24But obviously,
07:25as well,
07:25Amber deserves to have
07:26her full Strictly journey.
07:28You do it only once
07:28in a lifetime.
07:29But I did want to do well
07:31on Saturday for Danny
07:32just to be like,
07:33you know.
07:34To be like,
07:35I've got it, babe.
07:35I've got it.
07:36I'm holding it down for you.
07:37I'll do it for us.
07:38Well, Strictly waits
07:39around for no man
07:40or woman.
07:40You've already started
07:41rehearsing your next dance
07:42and I can exclusively reveal
07:44you'll be doing a Samba
07:45to this.
07:49Bam, bam.
07:50Camila Cabello
07:51and Ed Sheeran.
07:52How excited are you, Amber,
07:54for your first
07:55full week of training?
07:57I know.
07:58Terrified, actually.
08:00We've done one day today
08:01and I'm in pieces.
08:03My feet are falling apart.
08:05Literally.
08:06Literally falling apart.
08:07But it's given us
08:11more of an opportunity
08:12to get all the details in
08:13and things like that
08:14and for me not to be
08:14so nervous on Saturday,
08:16hopefully.
08:16Will you pay attention
08:17to the details?
08:18We've seen that you like
08:19to learn by writing
08:19things down.
08:20So what have you written
08:21down so far
08:22in your notebook?
08:23Today, nothing.
08:24Oh.
08:25Because we had,
08:26basically,
08:27Nikita threw the
08:28choreography at me
08:29and we were on
08:31a bit of a time limit
08:32so I didn't have time
08:33to get my notebook out.
08:34But it'll come out tomorrow.
08:36Don't you worry?
08:36Okay.
08:37Well, we thought
08:37since you were given
08:38such short notice
08:39that we would give you
08:40a little gift.
08:42It's your very own
08:43Strictly Pairn.
08:44Yay!
08:46Thank you so much!
08:47I did say little gift.
08:49Oh, gosh.
08:49I like it.
08:50I love it.
08:50I literally will not be
08:51seeing the end
08:51of this book now.
08:53Oh, yeah, that's it.
08:54We'll just be writing
08:54down things.
08:55All the notes.
08:56All the notes, yes.
08:57Now, both Valvinda
08:58and Chris were in
08:58the bottom half
08:59of the leaderboard,
09:00Nikita, with their sambas.
09:01How tricky is this dance,
09:03Tomasa?
09:04Yeah, let's be honest.
09:05Samba is the hardest
09:05dance of them all.
09:07And I thought
09:08both of them
09:09did really, really well.
09:10I love their sambas.
09:11And this week,
09:12all I hope to do,
09:14actually,
09:14is for Amber
09:15to enjoy the samba,
09:18listen to the things,
09:20go out on the floor
09:21confident,
09:22ready with food,
09:23four days of rehearsals
09:24and not just a couple.
09:26And, yeah,
09:27and then we're just
09:27going to shimmy,
09:28we're going to have fun,
09:29we're going to enjoy this song.
09:30And what are we going to be?
09:32Panther.
09:33Yes, panther, pantera.
09:34Right, like a panther.
09:35He said, be a panther.
09:36Yes.
09:36I was like...
09:37You had an amazing samba,
09:38you know, like all of that
09:39yummy, yummy, yummy,
09:41yeah, bouncy.
09:42Well, I can't wait
09:43to see the animalistic samba.
09:45Yes, oh, I'm going to take that.
09:47Have you had to cancel
09:48any plans to fit this week
09:50into your schedule?
09:51A dentist appointment
09:52this week, actually,
09:54which I'm not mad about,
09:55you know,
09:56I'm not a massive fan
09:57of the dentist.
09:58I mean, I would switch
09:58strictly for a dentist,
09:59so yeah, absolutely, yeah.
10:01Bring some floss to rehearsals
10:02and you'll be fine.
10:02Yeah, I'll be fine.
10:03Enjoy your first full week
10:05of training together.
10:06It's Amber and Nikita, everybody!
10:09Jeanette?
10:11Thanks, Fleur.
10:12Next up, it's Alex and Johannes
10:14and the lady in red
10:15left us with nothing
10:16to cry about on Saturday night
10:18as she performed
10:19a beautiful Viennese waltz.
10:21I think that was off
10:25to a great start.
10:27Your passion and your intensity,
10:29the direct focus,
10:30all that I love.
10:32The shoulders, unfortunately,
10:33were raised.
10:34It was very lumpy
10:35for my liking.
10:37There wasn't quite enough
10:38in hold,
10:40but all in all,
10:40it was a super-duper
10:42Viennese waltz.
10:43Well done.
10:43It's Alex and Johannes.
10:50You were just watching that
10:51with a massive smile on your face.
10:53I haven't watched it.
10:54Have you not watched it yet?
10:56No.
10:56Oh, you must.
10:57It was brilliant,
10:57I can tell you that.
10:58Now, you've been used to
11:00performing on stage and screen
11:01for over 30 years,
11:02but how different is it
11:03to dance in front of the nation?
11:04It is, it's different,
11:06and I sort of felt slightly
11:08like Jekyll and Hyde
11:10because I was with a live audience
11:13in the studio,
11:14so then I'm thinking,
11:15oh, well, this is like
11:15being in the theatre,
11:17but then suddenly I realised,
11:19well, actually, no,
11:19you've got to play to the camera
11:20because there are millions
11:22of people watching on television,
11:24so I didn't know
11:25quite what to do.
11:27In fact, I didn't know
11:28where the cameras were.
11:30That's good.
11:30You were lost in the moment.
11:31I was lost in the moment.
11:32I was lost in Johannes.
11:34I think you're not big.
11:34Look at him, right?
11:36And Johannes, this routine,
11:37it felt so dramatic,
11:38and there was so much
11:39choreography in there as well.
11:41What have you seen in Alex
11:43in the short amount of time
11:44that you felt so early
11:44in the competition,
11:45you can give her that?
11:46You know what?
11:47The truth is,
11:48the first time we hit it off,
11:49she said to me,
11:51Johannes, you will never
11:51have to ask me to give,
11:53and I was like,
11:54darling, that is what we want,
11:56and that is what strictly...
11:57Say that again?
11:58You know what?
11:59It's nice when people
12:01can go beyond themselves,
12:03and that's what I realised
12:04in our first days of rehearsal,
12:06and I just played into that.
12:08Yeah, you gave,
12:09and you fed his soul.
12:10Oh, my gosh.
12:12This man has such soul,
12:15and that's what I feel,
12:16and that's what I see
12:18when I look into your eyes.
12:19Look at the two of you already.
12:21It's only week one.
12:22But Alex,
12:23turning hasn't come easy
12:25this last week.
12:26What have you been doing
12:26to combat the dizziness
12:28of the Venus Mars?
12:29Oh, my gosh.
12:30Well, in that first week,
12:31I think it was day two,
12:33I just said to Jojo,
12:34I have to have
12:35motion sickness tablets,
12:36because I will not be able
12:39to actually complete
12:40this dance without...
12:42So I did.
12:42I took motion sickness tablets
12:44every single day.
12:45Yeah.
12:45It's a lot of spinning
12:46in the Venus world.
12:47People don't realise,
12:48but you're constantly turning.
12:49And the thing is,
12:50when you're moving
12:51and spinning,
12:52it's fine.
12:53It's when you stop.
12:54And because the very end
12:56of our dance
12:57was so dramatic,
12:58and there's that stop,
12:59and I walk away from him,
13:01I mean, I was...
13:02You were wobbling away from him.
13:03It wasn't a good look.
13:07Well, we're glad
13:08you took the pills
13:09because they looked amazing
13:10on the night.
13:10But you got a lot
13:11of positive feedback
13:12from everybody that watched.
13:14However, Craig gave it a four.
13:17Should not talk about it.
13:17The pros in Claudia's area
13:19were all screaming,
13:19never at the top of their lungs.
13:22And you also had
13:22an amazing message
13:23from Amy Louise.
13:24She said this on Instagram.
13:26You definitely deserved
13:27a higher mark.
13:29I think being one
13:30of the first on stage
13:31made them score lower
13:32because this was beautiful
13:34and captivating.
13:36Isn't that nice?
13:36Thank you very much,
13:38Amy Louise.
13:39What do you make of that,
13:40what Amy Louise said?
13:41Do you think so?
13:42Well, I mean,
13:44of course,
13:45the judges,
13:46they score as they feel,
13:48and one has to respect that.
13:50But I also was thinking,
13:52maybe Craig knows
13:54that I have an advantage,
13:56a dancing advantage,
13:57because I do dance
13:58when I'm cooking
13:59and when I'm ironing.
14:00Right.
14:00Oh, good.
14:01Good to know.
14:01What about yourself,
14:03Jojo?
14:03Did you agree?
14:04How do you feel about the four?
14:04No, honestly,
14:05I thought,
14:06you know what,
14:06the judges' scores were fair.
14:08We've got a long way
14:09to go in that regard,
14:11but everything they've mentioned
14:12is something that we can
14:13definitely improve on.
14:14And I said to Alex,
14:15I said,
14:15this is where it starts.
14:17And I just want to,
14:18I just want to come back
14:20in the following weeks
14:21better and stronger
14:22and crush those critics.
14:24But they did like it,
14:25the judges.
14:26They did.
14:26They did like it.
14:27But their criticisms
14:28are a little bit like
14:29director's notes
14:30before you do a play.
14:32So, you know,
14:33the notes are there
14:34to help you improve
14:35and better your performance.
14:37And so that must be also
14:38what their criticisms are.
14:40Which is great,
14:40because you've got another
14:41dance coming this week,
14:42so you can use that
14:43for this dance.
14:44And this week,
14:44we can reveal
14:45you're going to be
14:45dancing a samba
14:46to this classic.
14:50That is La Bamba
14:51by Connie Francis.
14:52You can't hear this song
14:53and not give a bit of a
14:54shimmy in your chair.
14:56Now, Alex,
14:57you've been teaching
14:58Johannes to kind of
14:58really feel the song
15:00before you start
15:01dancing to it.
15:02So when the two of you
15:03first heard this song,
15:04what kind of feels
15:04did you get?
15:05Well, to be perfectly honest,
15:06we've got,
15:07we're doing so many VTs
15:08this week
15:09that we don't have time
15:10to feel
15:11and improvise.
15:12There's nothing time.
15:13I mean, literally,
15:14he's like,
15:14no, no,
15:14we've got to
15:15start training.
15:16It's the second week
15:17always takes people
15:18by surprise
15:18because you don't have
15:19the two weeks
15:20you used to have
15:20on the first one.
15:21Exactly.
15:22And Johannes,
15:23you also did a samba
15:24in week two last year
15:25with Montel.
15:25It was brilliant.
15:26You got an impressive
15:2730 points for it.
15:29What would you be working
15:30on to repeat that score
15:31or maybe even go on better?
15:33You know what?
15:34Unfair to Alex,
15:35but I've thrown everything
15:36in the kitchen sink
15:37with this one.
15:37Yes!
15:38I did not tell her
15:39how difficult it was
15:40going to be,
15:40but I am making sure
15:42that Shirley will walk away
15:43with a smile.
15:44Ooh,
15:45no pressure.
15:46No pressure.
15:48Oh my God.
15:49Well,
15:49best of luck for the weekend.
15:50You were brilliant.
15:51Congratulations again.
15:52Let's give it up for Alex
15:53and Johannes.
15:56Over to you,
15:57Fleur.
15:57Thanks.
15:58Now,
15:58the first dance on Strictly
15:59can be a testing experience
16:01for anyone.
16:0211 years ago,
16:03a pro named Joanne Clifton
16:04debuted and finished
16:05rock bottom
16:06of the leaderboard.
16:07Sorry,
16:07Scott Mills.
16:08Now,
16:08she spends her Mondays
16:09and Tuesdays
16:10teaching us
16:11how to not
16:12make the same mistakes
16:13she did.
16:13It's time for
16:14Choreography Corner.
16:15Please welcome back,
16:35Joanne Clifton.
16:36I can't believe
16:38it's been nine months
16:39since I've seen you.
16:40I know.
16:40You've been really busy.
16:41You're back on stage
16:42at the moment
16:43and 40 Towers the play
16:44and you've just got engaged.
16:46I am.
16:47Don't have to cry again.
16:48Bit on the nose,
16:49white gloves.
16:51Congratulations.
16:52Thanks.
16:52We're so happy for you.
16:53We've got loads to talk about.
16:55Let's talk about Saturday night.
16:56Now,
16:57we're starting with
16:57our self-confessed
16:58Strictly super fan,
17:00Barbinda,
17:01and her samba.
17:02Lots of positive feedback
17:03for them,
17:04but Craig felt
17:05it lacked bounce.
17:06What are your thoughts on this?
17:07Well,
17:07I kind of agreed
17:08with the judges
17:08in a sense.
17:09I think her top half
17:10is amazing.
17:11She's really selling herself.
17:12She's great at the top.
17:14The bottom half
17:14needs some work
17:15and obviously bounce
17:16is one of the main things
17:17they look for
17:18in the samba
17:19and we know
17:20that it is basically
17:21the extension and compression
17:22of the ankles,
17:23the knees
17:23and the hips
17:24going forwards
17:24and backwards.
17:25But we need the feet
17:26in there as well
17:27and I think that's
17:28where she was going wrong.
17:29She was kind of doing
17:29her samba steps
17:30on a flat foot
17:31and a bent knee already.
17:32So I wanted to practice
17:34one thing that will help
17:34in every single dance.
17:36Just when she's got
17:37five minutes,
17:37count to eight,
17:38go slowly up on her toes,
17:40three, four, five,
17:40six, seven, eight,
17:41hold for eight
17:42and then go slowly down
17:45for eight
17:46and continue for five minutes
17:47on that.
17:47Imagine there's like
17:48a thick coil
17:50or spring
17:50underneath her heel
17:52and that will get her
17:52to use her feet more.
17:53Okay, nice.
17:54On to Ellie and Vito
17:55and the cha-cha-cha.
17:57The judges mentioned footwork
17:58but they all praised
17:59her musicality
18:00and timing.
18:01What did you think?
18:02Oh, she's a little
18:02firecracker, isn't she?
18:03Yes.
18:04Oh, she came out,
18:05she was fierce,
18:05she was bang on the beat,
18:07she was amazing.
18:07Obviously we can see
18:08she does pick her feet
18:09up a little bit.
18:10We spoke,
18:11I think it was last year,
18:12about how we can
18:13practice that.
18:14We get some sheets
18:15of paper under each foot
18:17and go across the floor
18:18doing rumble walks
18:19backwards and forwards
18:19to keep her feet
18:20on the floor.
18:21She was very good
18:21in a backwards lock.
18:23She actually kept them
18:24on the floor on that
18:24which I was surprised
18:25because that's a difficult
18:26step to do it on.
18:27But she did do a great step
18:29which I love
18:29and we're going to show you
18:30in demo time.
18:35Demo time back.
18:36Yes.
18:36Come here,
18:37here's what we prepared earlier.
18:38We're going to do
18:39the Turkish towel.
18:41Okay.
18:41Okay, and you get into it,
18:42you hold like this
18:43or you could,
18:44there are other ways
18:44but we're going to hold
18:45like this,
18:45like Ellie and Vito.
18:46You're going to go back
18:48forward like rock.
18:49I'm going to go forward back.
18:50We go cha, cha, cha
18:52and then the other side
18:53and it's a Turkish towel
18:54because it's like
18:55drying your back
18:56with a towel.
18:58Oh yeah, I love it.
18:59There you go.
18:59Thanks, man.
19:00I feel warmed up now.
19:01We're back.
19:01We're back.
19:02On to George and Alexis
19:03and the American Smooth.
19:04Now Anton wanted George
19:06to work on his shoulders
19:07and Shirley felt that
19:09his frame collapsed
19:09on occasion.
19:10Where could you see that
19:12and how can he work on this?
19:13Well, out of hold
19:14he was actually
19:14really coordinated.
19:15He was great.
19:17In hold,
19:17you see that his left arm
19:19is a little bit too high,
19:21his elbow's above the shoulder
19:22and his right arm
19:23gets a little bit loose.
19:25Now how I want him
19:25to practice that
19:26is get a broomstick
19:28or something like a broomstick.
19:31You can either tie it
19:32across his back,
19:33tie it to both arms
19:34or get it like this,
19:36just like that
19:37and in front of a mirror
19:38do lots of shapes
19:39and sways
19:40and that way you can see
19:41that your elbows stay
19:42in line
19:44rather than having
19:45one up and one down
19:47like this
19:48and it's uncoordinated.
19:49Everyone's going to be
19:49running off to the kitchen now
19:50for a broom.
19:51On to Tom and Amy
19:52and the Pasadouble.
19:53Now Craig felt
19:54that this was more
19:55tin soldier than Matador.
19:57Shirley commended
19:58his oval shaping though.
19:59Who do you agree with?
20:01I think he had
20:02great oval shaping.
20:03The oval shaping
20:04is like the hips forward
20:05in the Matador position
20:06but in hold
20:06so it's like
20:07they've got a hula hoop
20:08around them
20:09inside their frame.
20:10So he had that great.
20:11But as we can see on this
20:12when he's still
20:14and he does a line
20:15he has a great Matador
20:17or I call it
20:18the banana shape
20:19with the pelvis forward
20:19but when he's walking
20:21he lost it.
20:22So I don't know
20:23if he'll do Paso again
20:24but for those of you
20:26who will
20:26what you've got to imagine
20:27whilst you're walking
20:28is there's a little hook
20:29on your belt buckle
20:30and it is pulling
20:31it forward
20:32as you walk.
20:34The fact though
20:34that he did it
20:35kind of wrong
20:36and he was like
20:37in a normal posture
20:38doing it
20:38made me think
20:39ballroom boy.
20:40Oh, you're calling it early.
20:42She's called it early.
20:43Let's move on
20:44to Karen and Carlos
20:45and the jive.
20:45Our lioness
20:47flew to the top
20:48of the leaderboard
20:49and even got
20:49standing ovation
20:50from Shirley and Motsi.
20:52What made this jive
20:53worthy of the top spot
20:54for you?
20:54Do you know what it was?
20:56I screamed
20:56I got emotional
20:57watching this
20:58at home
20:58in my living room
20:59because it doesn't
21:01happen often
21:02but what she made me feel
21:03and I'm sure
21:04other pro dancers
21:05would feel the same
21:06it was transmitted
21:07through the TV screen
21:09just this joy
21:11this real passion
21:12and joy
21:12and grit
21:13and determination
21:14and it was like
21:15yeah, come on
21:16and I got emotional
21:17at that.
21:17I think though
21:18even though it was
21:19okay in the jive
21:20because as I think
21:21it was Shirley said
21:21you can compress
21:22here you contract
21:23the stomach
21:23because you've got
21:24that kind of posture
21:26she needs to be careful
21:27of her shoulders
21:27being up
21:28in all the other dances
21:29because she's got
21:30a short neck
21:30and her shoulders
21:31up a little bit
21:32so I want her to imagine
21:32two seat belts
21:33pulling over her shoulders
21:36and into her back
21:37her shoulder blades
21:38feel them in the back
21:39and just keep
21:40practicing that every day
21:41to try and correct
21:42that posture.
21:43Suddenly really conscious
21:44of my posture.
21:45Okay, next up
21:46Ross and Yavita
21:47and the cha-cha-cha
21:48now they were bottom
21:49of the leaderboard
21:50but Shirley praised
21:52his attitude
21:52what does Ross
21:53need to focus on
21:54do you think?
21:55I mean obviously
21:56he was loving life
21:57you saw him come on
21:58he was like yay
21:59oh don't look it there
22:00but he was loving life
22:01but yeah
22:02he gave it
22:03and he's got rhythm
22:04he was actually
22:05doing a lot with his head
22:06but he's like
22:07to the beat
22:08and I was like
22:08yeah he's got the rhythm
22:09he's good
22:10but yes I agree
22:11with the judges
22:12he didn't quite get
22:13over his feet enough
22:14which like
22:15if you do this
22:17and you've not
22:17got your weight over
22:18you're going to move
22:19that foot again
22:19you end up on the wrong foot
22:21what I'd like him to do
22:22I'm going to say sternum
22:23rather than centre
22:24because I don't want him
22:25to come forward
22:25and do this
22:26I want his sternum
22:27over the ball of the foot
22:28every time
22:29and to attack
22:30the space with that
22:32to keep his posture
22:33and to keep attacking
22:33a bit like
22:34you know like a wrestler
22:35who's confronting
22:36his component
22:37and he comes forward
22:38and it's like
22:38chest chest chest
22:39chest out
22:40he was doing a bit more
22:41like the scared opponent
22:42I mean but props
22:43to doing the routine
22:44in a fur jacket
22:45I know right
22:45he must have been boiling
22:47on to Stefan
22:48and Diane
22:48and the foxtrot
22:49now Motzi
22:50was impressed
22:51by Stefan's control
22:52from a standing leg
22:53and felt relaxed
22:54watching them
22:55what impressed you
22:56the most about Team Aussie
22:57definitely the standing leg
22:59because foxtrot
23:01as we know
23:01is slow
23:02quick quick
23:03and on those slows
23:04you've got two beats
23:06to do one step
23:07so you need that standing leg
23:09to control
23:10how you go forward
23:12if you take too much time
23:13on the standing leg
23:14your weight's going to be backwards
23:15if you go straight
23:16and don't use it enough
23:17onto the front foot
23:18then you'll find yourself
23:19falling forwards
23:20and out of time
23:20but he did that beautifully
23:22and the other thing
23:23I loved
23:23was his frame
23:24he had the perfect
23:25hot cross burn
23:27from lower
23:27the lower of his back
23:29to the top of his head
23:30and across to the elbows
23:31and it looked easy
23:33it didn't look like
23:34held and forced
23:35and that is because
23:36he held up his frame
23:37from these two muscles
23:38underneath here
23:40which are kind of
23:41used as brackets
23:42on a shelf
23:42they're holding it up
23:43oh yeah
23:44well that's enough
23:45for now
23:46fancy coming back
23:47on tomorrow's show
23:47to do the other eight couples
23:49let's do it
23:49wonderful
23:50it's Joanne Clifton everyone
23:52and congrats again
23:54over to you Jeanette
23:56our final couple tonight
23:58worked up a sweat
23:59at the weekend
24:00with a routine
24:00that really pushed it
24:02come on Harry
24:03push it real good
24:04yeah nice
24:05push it real good
24:08I always ask for salt
24:10and pepper
24:10a little bit flavor
24:11but you gave us all
24:12pepper curry
24:13oregano
24:14I'd like to see
24:16a little bit more freedom
24:17in the hip department
24:18I've got to be honest
24:19the footwork was very haphazard
24:21all in all
24:23you did a grand job
24:24and it was a new take
24:25on the charm
24:25well done you
24:27give it up for Harry
24:33and Karen
24:34oh my gosh
24:35Harry you look like
24:36you were having
24:37so much fun
24:38on Saturday
24:38but you got a little
24:39bit emotional
24:40when the routine ended
24:41you would have thought it
24:42it was a bit of a
24:43bit of a weird one
24:44because obviously
24:45my journey
24:46to this point
24:47as an athlete
24:48you get hurt
24:49you get injured
24:49and I'm quite a big one
24:51so we always think
24:53about ourselves
24:53in some capacity
24:54about getting back
24:55to who we are
24:56and you know
24:57you guys are dancers
24:58you know what it's like
24:58to perform
24:59and to be your true self
25:00so in that moment
25:01I recognised
25:01that I was finally
25:02where I wanted to be
25:03and I could be myself
25:04and it was just a bit
25:05emotional you know
25:06to have you back
25:08but Karen
25:10you said you were
25:10really excited
25:11about the lifts
25:11when you found out
25:12you were going to
25:12be paired with Harry
25:13but what else
25:14has surprised you
25:15about him so far
25:16that he can
25:16I can balance on his back
25:18and he can push me up
25:19and then I was like
25:20sure why not
25:20you know what
25:22I just love his enthusiasm
25:23you know
25:24he's always very positive
25:25and he's just
25:26such a good guy
25:27you know
25:28he just wants to do well
25:29he's literally looking at me
25:30like what's next Karen
25:30what's next
25:31what should I do
25:31yes yes no
25:33yes no yes
25:33so it's really nice
25:35to see that he pays attention
25:36to everything
25:37so yeah
25:39that's what's really surprised me
25:40he wants to make you proud
25:42yeah
25:42yeah
25:43it's like one of those things
25:44when you always have
25:45such a great teacher
25:46someone that you know
25:47knows the show in and out
25:48and obviously
25:48so experienced as well
25:50you just want to do them proud
25:51trust
25:51the trust is there
25:53I can see it already
25:54from week one
25:54you haven't even done a lift
25:55but I can feel it
25:56it's going to be great
25:56we'd have to talk about
25:58the moment
25:59that Shirley declared
26:00went viral
26:01which is this one first
26:03there she is
26:05and then this one next
26:07but I mean
26:12Anton's shoes
26:13must have felt
26:14a little bit more comfortable
26:15than having heels
26:16digging into your back
26:17what was that like
26:17let me tell you
26:18my heel was cushioned
26:20by the back
26:20he's got muscles in his back
26:22they're like pillows
26:24I was like
26:25well
26:25I actually felt better
26:27doing it in heels
26:28than I did doing it flat
26:29oh really
26:29because you can balance it
26:31I was actually surfing
26:32but how did you feel
26:35Chris forget about me
26:36do you know what it is
26:36it is like work for me
26:38genuinely
26:38people don't understand
26:39how hard it is
26:40to balance on my back
26:41whilst I'm moving
26:42so the core strength
26:43that this woman has
26:45is unreal
26:46imagine like
26:47I'm going up and down
26:48you've got a balance
26:48on the heels
26:49once you're in
26:50just commit
26:51so heels or no heels
26:52you're being nice
26:53you're being nice
26:54is because you're made
26:55of solid steel baby
26:56well the judges
26:59pointed out though
27:00there were a couple
27:01timing issues
27:01in the beginning
27:02of the dance
27:02Motsi seemed to think
27:03that it was down to nerves
27:05but how did you
27:06snap yourself back
27:07out of it so quick
27:08because literally
27:08you can't look back
27:09and you were back
27:09I was like
27:11oh he's there
27:11literally
27:12I'm not kidding
27:13I felt something
27:14because usually
27:16seriously we do
27:19but I felt something
27:20but when I turned around
27:21I was like
27:22one he's there on one
27:23great
27:23and then
27:24you know
27:25I heard that
27:26you know
27:26but you were so good
27:28did you just
27:28immediately come back
27:29from it like
27:30I think
27:30given my sprinter brain
27:32you know
27:32Olympics 100 metres
27:33you can talk about
27:34a race in 10 seconds
27:35and it will take you
27:365 minutes to explain
27:36what's going on
27:37because you see
27:37things in slow mo
27:38I sort of had a mishap
27:40when I jumped off the box
27:41I sort of landed awkwardly
27:42and I went
27:43normally I'd been going forward
27:44with my right foot
27:45I went forward
27:45with my left foot
27:46so I counted a short
27:48like I went 2
27:49instead of 1
27:49and then all of a sudden
27:51that happened
27:51so maybe I was protecting
27:53something or something
27:54I don't know
27:54but point was
27:55I saw things in slow mo
27:57and I was like
27:57as Karen was doing her bit
27:59I was like
28:00this isn't right
28:00it was like
28:01I had an out of body experience
28:02and was looking at myself
28:03like what are you doing bro
28:04so I just had to slow it down
28:06jump back in
28:07I'm not gonna lie
28:08you don't just look
28:09like a superhero
28:09you act like one
28:10but you know what
28:11we always practice as well
28:12I always tell him
28:13if anything goes wrong
28:14it doesn't matter
28:15but we never stop
28:17if you go wrong
28:18we continue
28:18and it's always the way
28:20that you recover from it
28:21exactly that
28:22and I'm so glad
28:22they pointed it out
28:23but we've got a question
28:24that's come in
28:24live from the viewers
28:25on the iPad
28:26this is really exciting
28:28this has come in
28:29from Evie in Rygate
28:30what is the hardest thing
28:31about switching
28:32from the gym
28:33to the dance studio
28:35I've got to say
28:37it's fatiguing
28:38so in terms of
28:40I'm an explosive athlete
28:41right
28:42so you know
28:43I can jump high
28:43run fast
28:44I produce force
28:45in such a short period of time
28:46controlling that
28:47is difficult
28:48and also
28:49if you ask me
28:49just to do a hold
28:50if you ask me
28:50to stand here
28:51like this
28:52you'll see me
28:53start to shake
28:54well
28:54I'm glad you brought it up
28:56because this week
28:58you're going to have to
28:58keep pushing it
28:59and keep holding that hold
29:00because we can reveal
29:01you're doing a quick step
29:02to this song
29:03everybody
29:05needs somebody
29:07Blues Brothers
29:08such an iconic song
29:10Karen
29:11it really is
29:11an iconic song
29:12full of energy
29:13just like Carrie
29:13so how much do you think
29:15this dance is actually
29:16going to suit him
29:16it's actually going to
29:17suit him really well
29:18I mean right now
29:18he's like
29:18but seriously
29:21it's like I go
29:22it's a quick step
29:23but it's not that quick
29:24it's not the quick
29:26that you like
29:26but now that we know
29:27he looks in slow motion
29:28it might be okay
29:30but you know what
29:31I think it's going to
29:31suit him really well
29:32today was like
29:33one of those tough days
29:34Mondays
29:35that I just threw
29:36everything at him
29:37and I was like
29:38let's see if it sticks
29:39well we're going to
29:40throw something else
29:40at you
29:41because it's your first day
29:42and we really are
29:43throwing everything at you
29:43we got your little gift
29:44here's some nice sunglasses
29:46to get you into character
29:47pop those on
29:49pop those on
29:50now the real test
29:51is can you do it
29:51in slow motion
29:52doing the quick step
29:53with glasses on
29:54but Harry
