00:00Welcome to Santa's Workshop TV, where Christmas cheer is made right here.
00:06Hello, my friends. Did you know that long ago, before emails, texts, and even phones,
00:12people found a special way to send holiday cheer?
00:16In the 1840s in England, a man named Sir Henry Cole came up with the idea of the very first Christmas card.
00:23He wanted families and friends to share their good wishes in a cheerful and easy way.
00:29These cards were decorated with festive pictures and kind words.
00:34Soon, everyone wanted to send one.
00:37Over time, Christmas cards spread across the world, from fancy designs to funny ones,
00:43bringing joy and connection each holiday season.
00:47Of course, nowadays, I don't send out quite so many cards, but I do get millions of letters instead.
00:53Ho, ho, ho. And that's how the tradition of Christmas cards began.
00:57Do you still send cards to your friends and family?
01:00Maybe this year. You could make one yourself.
01:04Thanks for joining me today.
