00:00Our first one, Joe, brings the San Francisco 49ers to take on the Los Angeles Rams.
00:04Did you know this line opened up at a minus three-point spread in the favor of the Los Angeles Rams?
00:09Injury upon injury to the San Francisco 49ers, Joe, we're now seeing a five-and-a-half at most outlets right now.
00:15The spread lines for San Francisco, heavy movement here, Joe.
00:20And five-and-a-half is no man's land in sportsbook world there, Donnie.
00:25The books are kind of just giving you right there at that five-and-a-half because there's really no value one way or the other,
00:32mostly because they have no idea what we're going to get from the 49ers at this point.
00:38Is Purdy playing? Is he not playing?
00:40I think if Purdy plays, we'll probably see the line movement closer to the open, maybe three, three-and-a-half.
00:47If he doesn't, I think that's what you're looking at.
00:50That five-and-a-half, maybe it'll go to six, but the total is also interesting because it hasn't budged at all.
00:58Open to 47, still seeing 47 on a short week with the Rams playing at home.
01:04Look at that, eyeing back-to-back losses possibly for the San Francisco 49ers.
01:08After a couple wins to start the season, you just have to get healthy.
01:10They're going in the opposite direction here.
01:13Spread line number two, Joe.
01:14Let's go to the Charm City.
01:15Talking about some of the same things we just talked about in San Francisco and Los Angeles.
01:19Why? Houston is going to take on Baltimore.
01:21That look-ahead line, Joe, before that game was played on Sunday for both teams, was nine-and-a-half.
01:26Do you know where it sits this morning?
01:27Minus three-and-a-half as a favorite towards Baltimore.
01:29Oh, no!
01:30Did Baltimore lose their entire team in a blowout loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, Joe?
01:35What gives on this spread line between Houston and Baltimore?
01:38Yeah, and the hook is available still.
01:41Three-and-a-halves in a lot of spots.
01:44I don't know how long that's going to last.
01:46But again, I mean, give Harbaugh and the Ravens credit.
01:50They were so noncommittal about anything with Lamar.
01:55And who knows exactly what you're going to get there.
01:58But I am more concerned with the other injuries there.
02:02Roquan Smith on the defensive side of the ball.
02:04Humphrey in the secondary.
02:06You know, they need to get a little healthier.
02:09Forget about Lamar because, quite honestly, the first one to ten points is going to win this game
02:14because Houston's offense is trash.
02:17However, they're going to need to get healthier on the defense.
02:21I still see this thing going off a little bit higher, Donnie, than where it is right now.
02:25But it's a wait-and-see game to figure out who's going to be under center here for Baltimore.
02:29You fold the week last week and say, OK, the NFL is done, right?
02:33We had a Thursday night game.
02:34We had the Sunday slate.
02:35We had a doubleheader on Monday night.
02:36Oh, we got a long way to take a look at.
02:38Not so fast.
02:39In the NFL, the time moves quickly.
02:41Before you know, it'll be Thursday night and another week begins.
02:43And we have to look at some of these early lines to get the people ready for what the anticipation is
02:48for the markets that are going to take place on Sunday.
02:51And they're going to move a lot during the week.
02:52They already have been doing that.
02:54But there are some hot topics out here.
02:56Ben Johnson is an interesting character, Joe Ranieri.
02:58We've seen him in Detroit.
02:59You know what?
03:00Maybe he's not a guy that's going to lead a football team.
03:02Just happy to be the offensive coordinator.
03:03Steps out in the limelight there for the Chicago Bears.
03:06He's an offensive guru.
03:07But he didn't like when his guru-ness was being contacted here.
03:11Why?
03:11Because Aditi King-Kabwala asked him a question that he didn't really like all that much.
03:15He tried to clear it up.
03:16And, you know, if you care to address this, I know there's been some buzz about your halftime exchange.
03:22Can you relay how you interpreted that conversation?
03:26Yeah, you know, in the moment, I honestly, I didn't think too much of it.
03:32I'm kind of in game mode.
03:35But then when I look back at it, you know, I am a little bit disappointed with what that looks like.
03:41You know, I didn't hear very well.
03:45And that's not an excuse.
03:46But when I thought I heard that it was not a question, but that I needed to make some changes, I didn't take that very well.
03:54So I'll do a better job with those going forward.
03:57That is fantastic because, you know, as a coach, like he's already like running hot on the sidelines.
04:05Things aren't going your way.
04:06And the mic in your face, like what I heard was, you better change your offense out there.
04:11It's just, it's in the heat of the moment.
04:12Those interviews don't need to take place, Joe, but they do.
04:15And sometimes they can give you that type of gold.
04:18Yes.
04:19And again, there's something to be said for we're moving on to Cincinnati.
04:23There is the less you say, maybe sometimes the better here.
04:28But listen, first time head coach, young guy, spotlights on him.
04:33I'm willing to give him a pass, but that won't be the last time.
04:37There are going to be an awful lot of comments and questions about his offense with Caleb Williams under Senate.
04:43Like we're not slighting the reporters in any mention, but it's like, like if Bill Belichick, like grabs you by the hand and is like,
04:48Hey, you better change your offense in the second half.
04:50Ben Johnson goes, maybe I should.
04:51But, but a, you know, female, male, whoever report on the sidelines, like, Hey, by the way, I think your offense stinks out here.
04:57You're probably going to get pissed off if that's what you think you heard at that point.
05:00But Ben Johnson tried to clear it up.
05:01We all know many people would have said what he said.
05:04Exactly.
05:04I'm getting beat right now.
05:06And you're telling me, I need to change my offense right now at this point.
05:08Good stuff as it handles, but we like truth and honesty.
05:11We do.
05:12Ben Johnson was just being honest at this point.
05:14How about Cam Ward?
05:15He's used to winning football games.
05:16They're Owen for here's what Cam Ward had to say after being for right after the game.
05:22I mean, we keeping a buck right now.
05:23We asked.
05:24So we own for, we have this one.
05:27We got nothing to lose.
05:27We dropped a quarter of our games and we've yet to do anything.
05:31So we have to lock in, especially myself on the offensive line, from the defensive line, from the special teams to all three faces.
05:39We have to play together.
05:40We have not played together this year yet.
05:43And that's just something that, you know, we want to preach about it every day.
05:46Every day we got to do better.
05:48And we're doing that, but it has to show up on Sundays.
05:50It hasn't showed up yet.
05:51But firing general managers, hiring coaches here, drafted number one picks.
05:57Love it.
05:58Absolutely.
06:00We look at the Jets and say, well, at least like you actually have some fun a little bit.
06:04If you watch the Jets, like, okay, they're moving the football.
06:06The Titans are brutal and they're brutal on the eyes.
06:10Like all you want, Joe, right?
06:11As you said, our defense stinks, but Cam Ward looks like he's going to be a good quarterback.
06:14Not a single facet of football looks good for the Titans, and that's a problem.
06:20Remember a couple of seasons ago when the owner, remember how she couldn't wait to push Ravel out the door?
06:28Yeah, yeah.
06:28Couldn't wait to push Ravel out the door here because, yeah, yeah.
06:33Because, you know, I didn't like his attitude very much because, you know, he had a lot to say, you know, about like guys like Will Levis, who we wanted nothing to do with.
06:43And then you pushed him out, and now he's lighting teams up over there in New England.
06:48Shocker.
06:48And you're stuck with a guy that can't seem to call plays.
06:52He relinquished those duties.
06:54He's going to get your young franchise quarterback absolutely killed before it's all said and done.
06:59So, yeah, things are going swell in Tennessee.
07:03But like usually, Donnie, these billionaire owners, the chance of them actually taking responsibility like, oh, we might have made a mistake, probably slim to none here.
07:15You're absolutely right about that.
07:16Can you imagine the story of the NFL where it's like, let's just take a look at the PGA Tour, right?
07:21Hey, you have 60 golfers in a tournament.
07:22If you perform poorly and don't make the cut, you don't get paid.
07:25Can you imagine an NFL landscape, Joe, we have, what, 32 football teams, and you say, okay, the top 16 football teams that have the best record, they get all of the TV money.
07:34The bottom 16, they get no money whatsoever.
07:38How would you take a look at a difference in this organization where you can fumble around and be horrendous at your job?
07:44Case in point, Daniel Snyder ruined the Commanders slash Redskins franchise for so many years and still said, hey, I bought it for a billion, sold it for six and a half.
07:52There is no financial penalty for being inept as an owner in the NFL, and that's never going to change.
07:57It's just the way it is.
07:58Now, we talk about money in the NFL, Joe.
08:01There's a lot of money being made overseas where you play football games there.
08:04Ooh, we're sending them a stinker this weekend, 9.30 a.m., Cleveland and Minnesota.
08:10Wentz still staying over there.
08:12Jay, look, second time is a charm at this point.
08:15We lost the first game.
08:15Let's stay over here and win the second game.
08:17Cleveland, Minnesota, snooze fest on Sunday morning.
08:22Look at what's going on here with this total.
08:26What do you think they're telling you here at 36 and a half?
08:29By the way, this opened up 37 and a half, and now we are all the way down to 36 and a half.
08:35Why?
08:36Because both of these two offenses are, oh boy, not good to say the least.
08:43And a lot of that has to do with the injuries on the Minnesota side, though.
08:46Who are we kidding?
08:46They, you know, you lost a couple of more starting offensive linemen in Minnesota.
08:51They have no running game.
08:53They lost Aaron Jones to the IL.
08:55Carson Wentz is the backup.
08:57He's running for his life the entire time.
09:00But both defenses are top five, top seven defenses.
09:04So, my question is, Donnie, are you going to continue to roll out, you know, weekend at Bernie's there and Joe Flacco?
09:12Like, or are you actually going to play for the future?
09:15Like, I don't know what the Browns are doing, but I want to know who that quarterback is going to be for the Browns before I would bet this game.
09:23That was the question I was going to ask is the follow-up, because, like, Joe Flacco's listed as a starter.
09:28You're already hearing the mumbles behind the scenes that we're going to go to Dylan Gabriel.
09:31Why not now?
09:32Like, it's Minnesota.
09:33It's Carson Wentz.
09:33Like, you can, you have a great defense on Cleveland that could probably hold Minnesota down.
09:38Let the young kids spin it here in a neutral site environment.
09:41You're not going to have a heavy crowd press like, oh, we don't want to start them in Philadelphia.
09:43That could be damaging for the kid.
09:45Just start them this weekend.
09:46Put it this way, Joe.
09:47It can't be any worse.
09:50And that's all I'm saying at this point here.
09:51Other games across the landscape, Joe, we'll get to the Thursday night game, San Francisco and Los Angeles.
09:56Look ahead lines, minus three.
09:58Current day lines, minus five and a half.
10:00Why?
10:00We don't know who San Francisco's even going to have a quarterback, let alone wide receiver, tight end, offensive line, defense at this point.
10:06The Rams, after an impressive comeback victory over the Colts, they're home again on a Thursday night.
10:11What gives in that one for you, Joe?
10:14Well, injuries like anything else with the 49ers.
10:18I mean, listen, short week, we're always going to side towards the home team anyway here.
10:25But I can make the argument, Donnie.
10:27They, Rams should have lost that game last, on Sunday there.
10:32There was, they were very much, that game was up for grabs and Indy could have won it.
10:37We'd be having a different conversation about them right now.
10:40But it's just, there's just far too many unknowns, and the book is telling it, Donnie, pricing it at five, five and a half.
10:47The books are like, they're going to wait too, because if Birdie's going, this will probably drop back down.
10:53If he's not, I still don't think this gets to a touchdown, but it's probably going to be five and a half, six all week long.
10:59How about this one, Denver and Philadelphia, Joe?
11:02Get a quick preview on this one.
11:03Open up at four and a half, still sitting at four and a half across the board.
11:05Low total there, 42 and a half.
11:07It actually bad up now to 44 and a half at some outlets here.
11:10Denver and Philadelphia in a big tussle at one o'clock this week in Philly.
11:15Well, like we said, it's one thing to look really efficient and really good offensively against Cincinnati, Denver.
11:23But let's see, your former head coach is the DC now in Philadelphia.
11:27Let's see what this offense looks like here this week against this defense.
11:33I think we'll learn a little bit about how good this Broncos team can be.
11:37I'll tell you, excited for the New York Giants and the New Orleans Saints, Dart versus Rattler.
11:42You got some games this weekend, and I'm just being kind at that point.
