Joke song Let’s Make Littlehampton Great Again to feature in gig

Let’s Make Littlehampton Great Again will be one of the songs as Littlehampton band Absuma play their first gig in the town.

00:06to speak again to Simon from the band Absima, based in Little Hampton, and you are playing

00:12your first Little Hampton gig on October the 17th at a new venue, The Bear, and there's

00:18a song that you're going to have to play, isn't there? Tell me about that song that

00:22will have to be on your playlist.

00:23Oh yeah, so a few years ago I wrote a song called Let's Make Little Hampton Great Again.

00:31It's a bit of a joke really, because I was playing some open mic nights and stuff, and

00:35I wanted to make people laugh. It was about when there was some traffic lights at Little

00:40Hampton station that were holding up everyone from leaving the town. And also inspired by

00:48talking to my girlfriend, Christina, her granddad, Chris, who only describes Little Hampton when

00:55he was growing up. It had like three cinemas, you know, dance halls, you know, market traders

01:02selling, you know, seafood and stuff. And it just sounds like a totally different place.

01:06So yeah, we're going to play that one. Let's make Little Hampton great again.

01:10You've got to, isn't it? But it's a decent place, Little Hampton, isn't it?

01:13Yeah, I mean, we, you know, we don't know any different, really. We love it. And we've

01:19started, you know, going out to town now and again, a bit more and stuff. And then, you

01:26know, we are proud to be from Little Hampton. And I guess that's why we're doing this gig

01:31for the, you know, the bonfire, because we think it's the best night in town, really.

01:37Yeah. And there'll be another good night just one week later when you and Christina, who's

01:41also in the band, get married.

01:44Yep, that's it. Me and Christina, we've been together like seven years or something, but

01:51we finally decided to tie the knot, I guess. And that's in Chichester. But yeah, so a very

01:59stressful couple of weeks. So it's good of me to book everything around the same time.

02:05Stressful, but it should be enjoyable.
