00:00Sunday afternoon baseball here at Oracle Park, the last time this year, and it's game number 162 as the Giants and Rockies close out the regular season.
00:11On the hill today for the Giants will be the veteran right-hander Logan Webb.
00:15Logan Webb, 6'1", 225-pounder, he's 28 years old out of Rockland, California, making start number 34.
00:21Trying to get his 15th win, he's done it before, he's going to try and equal his personal high in wins for a season.
00:27And here we go.
00:30Let it back, got him, and that's how this game gets started.
00:33So, one away, and here is Goodman.
00:36Swing and a miss, he struck him out with that four-seed fastball.
00:39So, two down, and here is Blaine Krim.
00:42Got him!
00:43Webb strikes off the side.
00:46Giants are coming up.
00:47Kate Brown, Rockies rookie out of Indiana University, coming off a 10-strikeout effort in a game against Seattle.
00:57So, here's Adamas.
00:58Adamas is in the leadoff spot for one reason, and that's maybe he gets an extra at-bat.
01:04It's the first pitch to center field.
01:07And, well, on the air!
01:12Number 30!
01:13Well, if you think the fans were into it, and were aware that he was one away from 30, standing ovation, and it could not happen to a better guy, third time in his career, that he's had 30 or more.
01:26But he just entered a long drought.
01:29Giants have not had a player hit 30 home runs or more since Paragons did it.
01:35First of all, we're going to regress to the home run.
01:38You see the high fastball challenge, and Willie Adamas takes on center field, and he knew it.
01:42As soon as it left the bat, but he had reached 30.
01:46And he does it in an impressive way.
01:49Right past the bag and down the right field line.
01:50It gets stuck under the angled sidewalk.
01:53Going in to dig it out is Drew Gilbert.
01:56And in to second, and holding is the speedy Doyle with a double.
02:01Yanquiel Fernandez.
02:03Got it!
02:04Changeup right below the strike zone, and Fernandez could not lay off.
02:08It is Kyle Karras.
02:10Lines this one to Ramos, who comes in and lunges forward to make the catch.
02:17Another giant.
02:18Loma Flores!
02:19Nice round of applause as he stands in.
02:22Lined in the center field, but it's right at the center fielder, Britton Doyle.
02:26One out.
02:27Here now is Jung-Hoo Lee.
02:29That's it.
02:30He could go 0 for 30, and she would like him.
02:33Yes, that's true.
02:35There goes the runner, 2-2 pitch.
02:36He has strike three called for the second, and got him inside.
02:40Strike him out, throw him out.
02:42Striking out, looking Bailey thrown out at second base is Lee.
02:47Well, you're going to hear a nice round of applause.
02:51Wilmer Flores is coming out of the game.
02:56For Wilmer Flores, just great contributions to this Giants team over many years.
03:11And you see the affection from Giants fans, but also from his teammates, from the staff.
03:18Dave Gretchen came over and gave him a big hug.
03:20Those two have been so close for all these years.
03:22One out for Ryan Ritter.
03:24Strikes out, swinging.
03:25He's got another one.
03:2694-mile-an-hour fastball.
03:28He's using that four-seamer today to very good effect.
03:32Tovar, the hitter.
03:33Got him.
03:35Six strikeouts for Webb.
03:37Hunter Goodman.
03:38One-two pitch.
03:39Goodman strikes out, swinging.
03:40Got him on the four-seamer.
03:42So, add another one for Logan Webb.
03:45Adamus.
03:47Got him on a one-half throw.
03:49One bounce to Eldridge.
03:51Willie Adamus ends up 50 feet in center field with his momentum after making that play.
03:57What a great play that was from Adamus.
03:59Ravi Devers is the first player in the majors to appear 163 games in a season
04:04since Justin Morneau did it with the Twins in 2008.
04:08Devers.
04:10High drive.
04:11Center field.
04:13Out of here.
04:15Number 35.
04:1835 homers, 109 RBIs.
04:20This one's down and in.
04:22And he hits it.
04:23Starts measuring and he didn't have to think too long as whether or not it was going out.
04:29So, that's pretty impressive.
04:31Here's Doyle.
04:32Kind of got him.
04:35Eight strikeouts.
04:36Which is sort of established the hole at bat down around the knees.
04:39And then he foreseemed him up above the belt by design.
04:42And that high fastball.
04:44Four-seamer has become a really good pitch for him.
04:46For the Rockies with two outs have two aboard.
04:49And a chopper up the middle.
04:51And Adamus has to go to first.
04:52He does.
04:53And not alone the inning.
04:54Colorado strands of pair.
04:56Giants are coming up.
04:57Well, during the break, we just got this news, Mike.
05:00Congratulations to Logan Webb.
05:01He is assured now that he will lead the National League in innings, pitched, and strikeouts.
05:06He's the fourth giant to do with Amos Rossi.
05:09Christy Mathewson and Bill Voizel.
05:11Ezekiel Tobar.
05:15Adamus off-balance throw.
05:17Perfect.
05:18He's put on a clinic defensively today.
05:20And here comes Bob Melvin out to the mound.
05:22So for Logan Webb, that's five and a third innings.
05:25And the fans are already on their feet, realizing that he's been taken out of this game.
05:31A standing ovation for Logan Webb.
05:34Five and a third innings in his final start of the year.
05:37And that gives him 207 innings pitched this season.
05:44The ace of the Giants.
05:45This is Goodman, the big slugger.
05:48Way out into triples alley.
05:49And this one's going to bounce up against the number seven archway.
05:55And on the move is Goodman.
05:58And they got him.
06:00Now, Goodman's not going to leave until it's confirmed.
06:05And it's confirmed.
06:07Well, it couldn't have been more perfect.
06:09I mean, we talk about Drew Gilbert and he loves to show his arm off.
06:12Well, Christian Koss has got a great arm, too.
06:15And he relays a one-hop strike right to Chapman, who puts on the tag.
06:19And they got him by two inches.
06:21And Willie Adamas is departing.
06:23Well, we're having another one of those moments here.
06:26And another opportunity for the fans to express their respect for what was done by Willie Adamas
06:35this time as Bob Melvin sends in a new shortstop and Adamas gets the big ovation.
06:42Jordan Beck at the plate facing Tristan Beck.
06:45A ball back to Beck, who gets knocked over.
06:48Stands up on the mound.
06:49Throws to first.
06:51No problem.
06:52Dust off and go after the next guy.
06:55It was not real graceful, but Beck gets back.
06:59The big dog in this lineup is Hunter Goodman.
07:02The pitch is lined to short and Koss drops it.
07:06He'll pick it up, throw to second for one, the throw to first.
07:09Double play.
07:11Well, the Rockies aren't going to be that happy about that.
07:13But that was not an intentional drop.
07:15The ball was knuckling on him and he knocked it down.
07:19And the Rockies don't like it, but he did not do that to deceive the Rockies.
07:24The problem is it turns out to be an advantage for the Giants.
07:28They get the double play.
07:30And that's it.
07:31The acting manager is coming out to argue with the umpires, but he's not going to win this argument.
07:36We'll go to the bottom of the eighth inning.
07:38Giants still ahead 2-0.
07:39Two outs.
07:40So McCray to third.
07:41Devers to second.
07:42Now Jung-Hoo Lee.
07:44Forks the hole, into the hole.
07:47One run's going to score.
07:49Here comes Devers.
07:50And Devers is going to be saved.
07:54Third hit of the day for Lee.
07:56Knocks in two.
07:57One last chance for Giants fans to do that chant.
08:01And the Giants lead is 4-0.
08:04Here's Bivens with McCray now on the left.
08:06Got him.
08:08There was a slaughter in the outside part of the plate and lets it just move and fall out of the strike zone and get him to chase.
08:16Jordan Beck.
08:17Got him.
08:193-2 backdoor, two-seamer, absolute perfect location.
08:23And now the Rockies down their final out.
08:26Doyle has doubled, struck out, and singled.
08:30Dwayne and a miss.
08:31This is the season.
08:33This Bivens strikes out the side.
08:34Well, it really turned out to be a day of milestones for the Giants.
08:39And they wind up on the season, 81 and 81.
08:43But Willie Adamas gets his 30th home run.
08:45Rafael Devers, he appears in his 163rd game.
08:49And Logan Webb winds up leave the National League in innings pitched and strikeouts.
08:53And now they're going to go out on the field and they're going to say thank you to the crowd.
08:58So, we just want to say thank you for all the support.
09:01I know this year it ended up not the way we wanted to, but we just want to thank you guys for the support.
09:07You guys were unbelievable.
09:08Said, I speak for the whole team.

09:14It means a lot.

09:18You cheer hard.
09:19We love you guys.
09:20I know we didn't reach our goal this year.
09:23We're all disappointed.

09:27We really are going to get better.
09:28And we're not going to disappoint you guys next year.
09:30We're going to be playing a lot later than this.
