A powerful magnitude 7.8 earthquake has rocked Russia’s Far East, shaking the Kamchatka region in the early hours of the morning. Described as an aftershock of July’s massive 8.8 quake, this tremor sent shockwaves through towns, triggering tsunami warnings and waking residents with violent shaking.
Tsunami waves between 30 to 60 cm were recorded, and sirens blared across Kamchatka and nearby island chains. While no damage or casualties have been reported, this is the second major quake in just one week in this seismically active region.
Authorities acted fast, inspecting buildings and placing emergency teams on high alert. Kamchatka, sitting on the Ring of Fire, remains one of the most quake-prone places on Earth. WooGlobe Ref : WGA464475 For licensing and to use this video, please email licensing@wooglobe.com
