00:00Loss was such a huge show.
00:06It was, and that was my first, you know, I came, what'd I do, like a Walker, Texas Ranger,
00:14I think I did an episode of Angel.
00:16You did Yo Gabba Gabba, which kind of pisses me off.
00:19You saw that one?
00:21You were Farmer Josh.
00:22Oh, hell yeah.
00:23It's so high energy.
00:25I came home and had like four vodkas right away.
00:27I'm never doing a kid's show again.
00:29I was like shaking.
00:31If you don't know Josh Holloway, you're doing it all wrong.
00:34From his big break as Sawyer on Lost to his recent role on Yellowstone, the guy's much more than a pretty face.
00:41Is it okay to smoke?
00:43Yeah, yeah, go for it.
00:44You're in Italy.
00:44I think they'd kick you out if you don't.
00:46Yeah.
00:47Agreed.
00:48Win in Rome or Milan.
00:49You heard that right.
00:51Milan.
00:52A place that I've never been, but where Josh has some real history.
00:56This is Ride, and we're in northern Italy.
01:03When you're young, life is just something waiting to be discovered.
01:07Thirty years ago, I took off to see the world, and those experiences shaped who I am today.
01:12But somehow, I never made it to northern Italy.
01:22It's the land of rustic food and high-octane cars, a place that's always been on my radar.
01:28So I'm making this journey the best way I know how, with someone who's lived it.
01:32One of my very first auditions ever.
01:35I think I kill it.
01:36The audition?
01:37Yep.
01:38And she goes, could you do it better, but could you do it more good-looking, like Josh from Lost?
01:44And I went, what?
01:47That's ridiculous.
01:48Yeah, and then I looked you up, and I was like, okay.
01:50Oh, dude.
01:51He's really good-looking.
01:52I never would have gotten that job.
01:53Wait, what years did you live here?
01:55Oh, my God.
01:57Early 90s.
01:58Early 90s, I got here.
02:00I had made, like, 600 bucks the night before in New York as a waiter, and that's all the money I had.
02:06And that ran out within, like, three weeks.
02:08I was stealing fruit from fruit stands, going to the grocery store, and open the yogurt, and drink it, and put it back.
02:13Then I'd jump all the turnstiles.
02:15I never had money for a ticket, so the Cabernet got me, like, had me held.
02:21But it was, like, it was amazing, because you're 18.
02:24Yeah.
02:24And you're like, whatever.
02:25And then I met this girl that I ended up dating, which you'll meet her brother.
02:30We became close friends.
02:32I would be here starving and washing my clothes in a bidet, and they'd dress me.
02:37I'm, like, driving around in a Volvo, you know, going to discos, and then I'd go back, washing my clothes in a bidet, like, starving.
02:45I'd steal fruit.
02:46It was just a complete dichotomy.
02:48Dual personality.
02:49It was crazy.
02:50So I got to know Italy from them.
02:53But also, I hooked up with Versace.
02:57I did the first campaign for younger people.
03:01It was called Versus.
03:02I got to know them, and then we'd hang out with Donatella and Paul Beck and Gianni, actually.
03:09Versace was still alive at that time.
03:12But they kind of saved me a bit, because that got my career going.
03:17But we were wild.
03:18It was wild back then.
03:19Oh, my God.
03:20Let's get out of here.
03:21You ready, Freddy?
03:21Ready, ready.
03:22All right.
03:22And just like that, we're off on our Italian aventura.
03:26Ciao, ragazzi.
03:27Hello.
03:28Leaving Milan, we'll test some unusual racing machines in Lombardi.
03:32Circling Lake Garda in one of Europe's most scenic roads, we'll visit a three-star Michelin chef in Moderna,
03:39before reuniting with Josh's friend in his old stomping grounds of Bologna.
03:44A three-day, 430-kilometer nostalgia-inducing trip to the culinary paradise and infinite speedways of northern Italy.
03:53You look great right here.
03:54Oh, y'all.
03:55That begins here, on the fashion-forged streets of Milan.
04:00Milan is considered the most important place.
04:04It's the engine of Italy.
04:06Many people from the southern part of Italy go to Milan to find a job opportunity.
04:11It's the center of fashion.
04:13When you go outside, it's like to be in a runway.
04:15I need to wear eels to go to do, like, shopping to show myself to people.
04:20It's, like, so strange, but it's Milan.
04:23I remember the first season I got here, I had this nice pea coat, and I traded it for a fringe jacket and froze my ass off, right, all winter.
04:33And then I found a frozen glove in the park, and I'd wear that one glove, and the other one I'd just keep in my pocket all the time.
04:39So I carried my book bag, you know, with the gloved hand, so no one ever knew I didn't have two gloves.
04:45I love that story.
04:48That's some, like, midnight cowboy stuff right there.
04:52So did you go to these markets all the time and steal food?
04:55Yeah.
04:55Hello.
04:56Ciao, ragazzi.
04:57Anchos.
04:58Anchovies.
04:59Anchovies.
05:00Let's try one.
05:01This is super salty, right?
05:02No, it's not very salty.
05:04Yeah, right.
05:05Come on.
05:05Best anchovies in the world.
05:07Incredibile.
05:08Yeah?
05:08Is it salty?
05:09Mm-hmm.
05:10I knew it.
05:11I knew it was salty.
05:12Liar.
05:13Super salty.
05:14Are you passing out cherries?
05:16Oh, cherries?
05:17Oh, sì.
05:17What is it?
05:18Apricot?
05:19Oh, man.
05:21Incredibile.
05:22I wish I could speak Italian, but delicious.
05:24Me too.
05:25I speak like a...
05:26I don't even know what that means.
05:33Ciao.
05:33Ciao.
05:34Come sai?
05:36Finissimo.
05:36Quando torni a Yellowstone?
05:39Oh, no so.
05:40Io sono morto, sai.
05:42Eh, lo so, lo so, peccato.
05:44Ma ti fanno rinascere.
05:45Ah.
05:46Forse.
05:47Bene, complimenti.
05:49Grazie.
05:49Sei bello come TV.
05:51Ah, thank you so much.
05:53Grazie.
05:53Rigo, buongiorno.
05:55Arrivederci.
05:56Arrivederci.
05:56She's adorable.
05:57That's some...
05:58You speak Italian.
05:59Oh, I'm getting there.
06:00I'm remembering, I'm remembering.
06:01I miss Europe, man.
06:08Are you having flashbacks?
06:09Yes.
06:11I've got a flood of memories hitting me, man.
06:14I'm like, wow.
06:16It's amazing.
06:17The fashion must just be huge here.
06:20Everything is about beauty.
06:21The cars, the clothes, the food.
06:24It's all about beauty, beauty, beauty.
06:27Look at that church.
06:28That's Castillo.
06:30That is a beautiful castle.
06:32And they have an amazing museum in there of all ancient weapons.
06:36Oh, nice.
06:37I love these trolleys everywhere.
06:39Yeah, man.
06:40I rode those things everywhere.
06:42Look at that thing.
06:43Oh, my God.
06:44Let's get off.
06:45Amazing.
06:46Crazy.
06:48Tuomo di Milano.
06:49The iconic silhouette of this city that took 600 years to complete.
06:53What about selfie?
06:55Ciao, regazzi.
06:56With its final touch, a 37-ton bronze door designed by famed Italian sculptor, Lodovico
07:03Pogliaggi, finished in 1908.
07:05Look at this door.
07:06It's bananas.
07:08I mean, really with this?
07:12Oh, this is so cool, bro.
07:14I can't stop smiling.
07:16It's making my helmet too tight because it's like the cheeks.
07:19I'm like, eh.
07:20Stop smiling all the way.
07:22Those smiles, they've only just begun because we're leaving the industrial heart of this
07:28country to venture deep into the Italian Dolomites.
07:30To Bologna.
07:32Andiamo, ragazzi.
07:36All the way, holly.
07:38Yee-haw.
07:40There's a disco over here.
07:42Oh, dude, there's a story for you.
07:44I was starving in Milan, right?
07:46And then these clubs out in a place like this, they wanted models to come out.
07:50You beautify the place?
07:52They pay you 150,000 lira a night, which is like 120 bucks a night.
07:56We called it Dancing for Dollars.
07:58Dude.
07:59Awesome.
08:01I lived in Spain in Sicce for a little while.
08:04Man, they know how to party.
08:05Yeah.
08:06Everyone sleeps all day and they go out at like 3 in the morning.
08:09I miss Europe, man.
08:11Dude, you need to move right back here so I can visit.
08:14Yeah!
08:14Ha, ha, ha!
08:18We're on a 75-kilometer trek along Autostrada 35 into the village of Lonata da Garda.
08:25Italy's passion for motors has produced some of the most iconic rides in the world.
08:29High-quality engineering and design that originated just down the road in Emilia-Romagna.
08:35Where we're going now isn't exactly that.
08:38The car is one of the symbols of Italy.
08:39It's a mini car with three hills, two back and one in front.
08:51Oh my God, it's appalling ass.
08:59Apecar is one of the symbols of Italy.
09:01It's a mini car with three heels, two back and one in front.
09:05Created for countryside working.
09:08All our grandfather has one, mine has.
09:11Usually used for transport things, but now it's become fashion.
09:16And it's so noisy, you know.
09:18You know that an Apecar is coming because you feel like a...
09:22So noisy, it's like, oh my God, it's an Apecar.
09:25Okay, that's fine, I know it.
09:26Invented in 1948 as an affordable work vehicle for war-torn communities,
09:31the Ape has become an iconic Italian machine
09:34until some innovative motorheads began souping them up for the racetrack.
09:43That guy in the racing getup?
09:45Loris Rosati, five-time Italian rally car champion,
09:49with a driving style that tows the line between brilliance and insanity.
09:57Badass and adorable all at the same time.
10:01Ah, that was fun.
10:02Incredible, bro.
10:04It's beautiful, man. You built it?
10:06That's it?
10:07Yes.
10:08Photos su...delle foto su internet.
10:09Poi, con l'aiuto di mio babbo, ce l'hiamo costruiti uno noi
10:12per andare a fare le gare.
10:13That's a killer.
10:14Yeah.
10:15Your dad races these two?
10:16Eh, yes.
10:17Ah, bello, bravo.
10:18This is the first for me.
10:20Never seen this before.
10:22Redneckery.
10:23That's what we call this.
10:24Where I'm from.
10:25Redneckery.
10:26Can I sit in here?
10:27Bro.
10:28Oh, wow.
10:30Watch your back.
10:31How do you get in?
10:32There you go.
10:35Oh, my God.
10:37I feel like a sardine right now.
10:39I think I broke like six things.
10:41On your forward sardine.
10:43What?
10:44Try.
10:45You're gonna get your feet in like this.
10:49Oh, man.
10:50How do you turn?
10:51Because of your knee.
10:52Don't do it.
10:53You don't do it.
10:54You don't turn.
10:55No.
10:56I can't.
10:59Oh, man.
11:00This would be fun, though.
11:01You know we didn't come all this way just to watch.
11:04But apparently, not every Ape comes equipped with a 600cc engine.
11:10Pronto!
11:11Andiamo!
11:12Here we go.
11:13I'm at full power.
11:14Why?
11:15It's not going anywhere.
11:16I'm in there.
11:17This is bananas.
11:18Where are you?
11:19I can't see you at all.
11:20Coming to get you.
11:21Here I go.
11:22I'm coming to get you.
11:23Ah!
11:24I'm coming to get you.
11:25Ah!
11:26This is bananas.
11:27This is bananas.
11:28Where are you?
11:29I'm coming to get you.
11:30Ah!
11:31Wait.
11:32Wait.
11:33Call me for delivery.
11:34I'll be there next week.
11:35Whee!

11:55Nice to meet you, man.
11:56Next time!
11:58Well that was nothing like I expected.
12:00Could not be more amazing.
12:02Ah, me.
12:03But then again, everything here is beyond expectation.
12:08Which is why we're off to find a quiet place on the shores of La Guarda to end our day with a beer.
12:16we can't get on a road prettier than this no I mean no way strata della Fora the
12:26street of the gorge carved out of these mountains over a hundred years ago it's
12:31an engineering masterpiece considered the eighth wonder of the world
12:46and navigating these hairpin turns with Lake Garda in my periphery it might be the
12:55most amazing stretch of pavement ever
13:06the land that time forgot
13:16it's one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen on the show right here no
13:20it's amazing look at this little a little mountain town yeah don't tell me it's

15:31what tomorrow's ride will bring
15:46Look at this countryside, bro.
15:51Yeah, it's just sensational.
15:55Day two, and I can't imagine a more epic way to start.
15:58A morning ride exploring the old world villages that surround Lake Garda.
16:04Wow, look down here.
16:05Look at that.
16:06Wow.
16:07In the middle of that cliff, look ahead.
16:09It's got a house on it.
16:10This is just picturesque everywhere you look.
16:16So you're taking me fishing right now?
16:18Is that what's happening?
16:20You know it, baby.
16:22Can't wait.
16:24And leave it to Josh to make friends with some local anglers last night,
16:27who agreed to take us out on the water in the region of Trentino.
16:31This the spot?
16:32I think this is good for me, bro.
16:35Let's do it.
16:36Fantastic.
16:37Wow, you picked a pretty spot.
16:38Hello.
16:39Look at these guys.
16:40All right, they got all the gear and everything.
16:42Ciao.
16:42Ciao.
16:43Ciao.
16:44How are you?
16:45Come on.
16:46Come on.
16:46Come on.
16:47Northern Italy has some of the best fly fishing on the planet.
16:51How do I know?
16:52Let's just say Josh may have mentioned it a few times.
16:55The guy doesn't just play one on Yellowstone.
16:58He's a true outdoorsman in real life.
17:00This is beautiful here.
17:02The water is like gin clear.
17:05It didn't take long for Josh to get right into his element.
17:08And being out here, yeah, I kind of get it.
17:13Fly fishing in Italy, I cannot believe it.
17:18What kind of trout are here?
17:20Brown, rainbow?
17:21Brown trout.
17:23Brown trout and marble trout.
17:24Marble trout.
17:26Marble trout.
17:27I've never heard of marble trout.
17:29How cool.
17:30I mean, Italian marble is everywhere, even in the trout.
17:33Do they bite it as soon as it hits the water?
17:39Sometimes.
17:41That's how you do it, right?
17:43Just like that, baby.
17:45I'm hunting fish.
17:48All right, let's get in there.
17:52Fly fishing is a sport of patience and wit.
17:55Oh, there we go.
17:57That's the pocket.
17:59Of understanding your prey and adapting to its behavior.
18:03And apparently, it also helps when the fish don't know you're trying to catch them.
18:08But our new friends are fully prepared.
18:12That is beautiful.
18:17He laid that up quick, didn't he?
18:20Do you cook everything you catch?
18:22It's mostly catch and release in Wyoming.
18:24But my last days on Yellowstone, because of COVID, I had to drive to Montana and then be quarantined for nine days in a cabin by myself.
18:36So I fly fished every day.
18:38And I would take one home at night and cook it.
18:43It was paradise.
18:44Yeah, sounds like paradise.
18:45All for four hours of work to get hit with a rattlesnake and die.
18:48That was the craziest death, by the way.
18:50That was pretty cool.
18:51Yeah.
18:52Snake in the face.
18:53Snake in the face?
18:59Plate, sir?
19:00Yes, sir.
19:01Thank you, thank you.
19:01Yeah.
19:03I want some dry fish.
19:04Oh, that's fine.
19:06Mmm.
19:07I don't know.
19:08Well, how is it?
19:09Sorte.
19:10Kudos to the chef.
19:11Oh, man.
19:13That is delicate, man.
19:16I could eat that all day.
19:17Buonissimo.
19:18Bravo.
19:19Vado bravo.
19:21That was amazing, gentlemen.
19:22Grazie.
19:23Thank you so much.
19:24Ciao.
19:25Ciao.
19:26Ciao.
19:26How good was that, right?
19:30Fresh fish is a bomb.
19:32I'm a little tripped out at how much Italian's coming back.
19:36Yeah, you seem like a local to me.
19:38I gotta learn some Italian so I'm not talking like an ****.
19:42I want to know what I'm saying.
19:44Oh, man.
19:45It's surprisingly fast.
19:49We're making a 60-kilometer trip south into the village of Pachingo de la Azize.
19:53I mean, look at those mountains, man.
20:07They look alive, don't they?
20:09Yeah, they are.
20:11It's like spiritual.
20:14I lived three years in Italy and they never took me a year?
20:19I need to stop and take pictures.
20:21I mean, this is insane.
20:22Sometimes in life, you gotta stop and smell the roses.
20:36Or in this case, take a photo.
20:39Ha!
20:40**** out!
20:43Woo!
20:47I agree with whatever that was.
20:49Ha!
20:49Ha!
20:49Ha!
20:49Ha!
20:49Ha!
20:50Ha!
20:50Ha!
20:50Ha!
20:50Ha!
20:51Ha!
20:51Ha!
20:51Ha!
20:51Ha!
20:51Ha!
20:52Ha!
20:52Ha!
20:52Ha!
20:54I'm just, I'm in awe.
20:57I don't want this episode to end.
21:06So this is like a farm, but you can stay here as a bed and breakfast.
21:11Cadassol, an Italian bed and breakfast, or as it's known here, an agriturismo.
21:18Well, agriturismo is a typical Italian term for land,
21:22a villa, a country villa, a country villa.
21:23It's an old farm that has become a restaurant where you can have good food and in which you
21:31can rest for the night.
21:33Tonight's biker night, and they serve great pizza.
21:36Brat are we're now, it's like a restaurant, a little bit.
21:37And they're a lot of food and it's been a little bit about the food and everyone.
21:38...I think we're going to be getting home.
21:39And they're taking home andoring.
21:40They're trying to eat for the food and your food.
21:40And they're trying to eat for that.
21:41And they're trying to eat for the food and food and stuff.
21:42It's going to be a restaurant.
21:43Poli and her friends to help prepare for the festivities.
21:46This is your place?
21:48I opened this hotel with my family,
21:49with my brother, 25 years ago.
21:53And we work here together, all the family.
21:55Wow, 25 years.
21:5725 years ago.
21:58Congratulations.
22:02Every country has its local specialties,
22:05but Italy's small-scale farms produce some of the finest wines,
22:09olives, and cheeses in the world.
22:13Wow, look at that.
22:16So when rising costs threatened the future
22:18of farming a generation ago,
22:21agriturismos began as a way for farms to earn extra money
22:24and keep Italian traditions alive.
22:27Hey, how is it?
22:34It's okay? It's good?
22:35Oh my god, incredible.
22:39And we're spending the night to get
22:41the full authentic experience.
22:43Yeah, there you go.
22:45Thank you so much.
22:48So this olive oil is from you?
22:51From here, from this land.
22:52Oh, wow.
22:53Where's the trees?
22:54In the other part, you can see a lot of trees.
22:57And then we produce wine and stuff.
23:01What do you know about this area, actually, about Luna?
23:04Nothing.
23:05Nothing.
23:06There is so much to see here.
23:08You must come another time.
23:10But you must stay here one week, minimum.
23:12My girlfriend's birthday.
23:13I might bring her here.
23:15Yes.
23:15Yeah.
23:16We can have a wedding.
23:18We can organize everything.
23:20Slow down.
23:20Slow down.
23:22Yeah, yes.
23:23No, before the wedding.
23:25Before the wedding.
23:25It's two weeks before.
23:27Thank you for having us.
23:29Thank you so much.
23:30Gracias.
23:31Oh, yeah, look at this.
23:40Ciao ragazzi.
23:42Hi, guys.
23:43Hi, farming.
23:44Wow.
23:45Wow.
23:46Bravo.
23:46Yep, yep.
23:49True hospitality has a way of dismantling your guard,
23:52of creating comfort in a foreign place.
23:55Voila.
23:56Dig in.
23:59Yeah, nice.
24:00Hey.
24:02That's a nice bike.
24:03Thank you, Mike.
24:04And in Josh, I see a guy who feels right at home again.
24:09And this frickin' tire.
24:11Look at the tire.
24:11Look at the tank.
24:12God.
24:13Back in his element, in a land where he belongs.
24:16Oh, yeah, sir.
24:17Oh, yeah, sir.
24:19Let's get more beer, y'all.
24:20Oh.
24:28Here's a good morning to you.
24:30I just woke up.
24:31Dude, they do breakfast great here.
24:33It's gonna be a cool day.
24:34I mean, come on.
24:36You get, so what kind of day do you get to go to the Ducati track and meet one of the top
24:41chefs in the world?
24:42Come on.
24:42Yeah.
24:43I'm excited.
24:44Well, I'm on the road four weeks at a time.
24:49When I get home to you, yes, I need your love.
24:55It's famous for a lot of things.
24:57Prosciutto may come from there, parmesan, cheese comes from around here.
25:02Ferrari is also around Maldonado.
25:05You know you're in Italy.
25:07Why aren't you living here again?
25:08This is your joy.
25:09I am.
25:10My heart is already healed.
25:12You just changed your whole life on ride.
25:14I did.
25:15Is that a Ferrari on the left?
25:17It's like an Alfa Romeo, I think.
25:20Leaving Lake Garda, we're heading south on a 120-kilometer stretch into Modena, known
25:27as the birthplace of Italian speed and the supercar capital of the world, or simply put,
25:34Motor Valley.
25:35Motor Valley is the heart of the engines of Italy.
25:40It's a triangle between Modena and Bologna of motors that are famous all over the world.
25:45Like Pagani, Lamborghini, Ferrari.
25:49Everything comes from there.
25:50You have the Silicon Valley, we have the Motor Valley.
25:52We're on our way to meet a world-class chef who likes his food slow and his vehicles fast.
25:57My first car was a Karmann Ghia.
26:01Just when it broke down, you just kick it, and it strikes right back over again.
26:04Oh, Karmann Ghia, mine was a Fiat Spider.
26:07I ruined mine.
26:08I ran out of gas in the middle of the country, walked on the door, no one answered.
26:13So I went in there, their garage grabbed a gas can, it was full of paint thinner.
26:18I ran it all through my car, and that ruined it.
26:21That was it for the Fiat.
26:23Oh no, no way.
26:27Oh, ho, ho.
26:28Wow.
26:29This is going to be cool.
26:30I can tell already.
26:32Crazy to believe this unassuming countryside has fostered some of the greatest ingenuity
26:37known to mankind.
26:38Hello.
26:39Hello, my friend.
26:40How are you?
26:41Hi.
26:42Nice to meet you.
26:43I'm Norman.
26:44Nice to meet you.
26:45Hi, Norman.
26:46Josh.
26:47Hi, Josh.
26:48Welcome to the land of slow food and fast cars.
26:52To call Massimo Bottura merely a chef would be a disservice.
26:57The man is a visionary.
26:59His modern restaurant, Asteria Francescana, is recognized among the top in the world, with
27:04three Michelin stars to prove it.
27:06And like so many great artists, Massimo's creativity is fueled by the inspiration he surrounds
27:11himself with.
27:12I compress my passion into gastronomic experience, but filtered by a contemporary mind.
27:18Yes.
27:19I'm never nostalgic.
27:20I'm always very critic to get the best from the past into the future.
27:24What's the story with the suit?
27:27That's Joseph Beuys.
27:29Beuys was an incredible artist, very nature-involved.
27:36That's why he said, in defense of nature, we should never stop planting.
27:43It's all related to even how I cook.
27:46That's why I'm very, very, very focused on social gesture in everything I do.
27:54Because boys influence me.
27:55That's why I'm a United Nations ambassador.
27:58Because food waste is one of the first cause of climate change.
28:02Who's better than a chef can fight food waste and transform into amazing meals.
28:07In 2021, we fed, in one year, 1,150,000 people rescued 670 tons of food.
28:18That otherwise would be wasted.
28:20Just wasted.
28:21Yeah.
28:22That's an incredible mission, man.
28:24That's why the Guide Michelin, they honor me to have three red Michelin stars as the top
28:30of excellence.
28:31Yes.
28:32But also the fourth one that is a green one.
28:35Is the green is the star of sustainability.
28:39You are amazing, bro.
28:41I mean, incredible.
28:44Your taste, but even more is your heart.
28:47Your heart is gold, bro.
28:50Success gives you a megaphone.
28:52Question is, what do you got to say?
28:55This one is like built for the 50th anniversary.
29:01But Massimo's not busy in the kitchen.
29:03That's nuts.
29:04His other passion is vintage Italian machinery.
29:07This was like a Marco Lucchinelli.
29:09I found this bike.
29:10We restored it.
29:11And now he's here.
29:13Marco came and he signed it.
29:14Wow.
29:15You've got quite the collection of everything.
29:17Everything.
29:18Very cool, eh?
29:19I've never seen a car like that.
29:21No.
29:22Do you want to drive it?
29:23Yes.
29:24Okay.
29:25No, really?
29:26Yeah, let's go.
29:27I'm kidding.
29:28Let's go.
29:29You're joking me right now.
29:30Ciao, ragazzi.
29:31Ciao, ragazzi.
29:32Ciao, ragazzi.
29:41Yeah, we were supposed to film that, but our crew had no chance catching up to a Ferrari,
29:46especially when blasting off faster than we're allowed to admit on camera.
29:50Oh!
29:52I appreciate it.
29:53Wow.
29:54Are you okay?
29:55Are you okay?
29:56Are you hanging in there?
29:57Bro!
29:58I heard you put your head against this.
29:59It was bananas.
30:00Bananas.
30:01Bananas.
30:02Bananas.
30:03Do you want to do the...
30:04Yeah, I want to go.
30:05Okay, come.
30:06What?
30:07What?
30:08What?
30:09Holy .
30:10This jazz you're hearing, it's kind of close to what was playing on that car's stereo.
30:14And beginning to understand Massimo, I get it.
30:16The flow of clutter, the element of surprise, celebrating imperfections and channeling improvisation.
30:37It's not just the way Massimo cooks, it's how he lives.
30:43Whoa!
30:46I think I'm stuck to the sea.
30:51Okay, let's have a selfie here.
30:54I'm still hanging.
30:55That is special.
30:56Oof.
30:57To create the future, you've got to start from the past, and Massimo's reimagining this world one plate at a time.
31:04Dude, again, what a pleasure.
31:06Ciao.
31:07Ciao.
31:08Ciao, guys.
31:09Ciao.
31:10Have a safe ride, but full of emotion.
31:11Yes, thank you for the inspiration.
31:12Full of emotion.
31:13Of course, sempre.
31:14Yeah.
31:15Ciao, guys.
31:16Okay.
31:17I'm so inspired, I can't even take it, bro.
31:19Yeah.
31:20That guy has it going on.
31:23He's got everything going on, man.
31:26Yeah.
31:27He's got the toys, he's got the attitude, he's got the talent.
31:31I've got to thank you again, bro.
31:33I've just got to thank you again.
31:34This has inspired me in so many ways.
31:37Well, it ain't over yet.
31:38It ain't over yet.
31:39It ain't over yet.
31:48See how awesome Italy is?
31:50And they treat you like family right away.
31:52Right away, yeah.
31:53Right away.
31:54They're so warm and open-hearted.
31:55We meet your friend tonight, right?
31:56Yeah, yeah.
31:57I can't wait, man.
31:58We're like brothers.
31:59Luca Moratori.
32:00Good name.
32:01Before we meet up with Josh's friend in Bologna, a pit stop.
32:02Come on.
32:03Did you think a series called Ride was just going to pass through a place named Motor Valley?
32:07Yeah, I've never ridden a race bike on a track before.
32:08Looks fast.
32:09It does look fast.
32:10We're at the Autodroma da Modena, home of the Ducati Racing Academy, a two-kilometer stretch
32:21of demanding gradients and lightning-fast straight-up.
32:25We're at the Autodroma da Modena, home of the Ducati Racing Academy, a two-kilometer stretch
32:34of demanding gradients and lightning-fast straightaways.
32:41We're here to test our skills in some of the finest Italian speed machines on the planet.
32:45Nicola, nice to meet you.
32:46Nice to meet you.
32:47Dario.
32:48Pleasure.
32:49Pleasure, Dario.
32:50Nicola, nice to meet you.
32:51Pleasure.
32:52Nice to meet you, Norman.
32:53Look at that.
32:54That is badass.
32:55Yes.
32:56Cattivo culo.
32:57Molto cattivo.
32:59We are going to test different bikes today from the Ducati Monster up to the Multistrada
33:05before Pike's Peak.
33:06Great.
33:07Okay.
33:08Thanks for having us.
33:09It's a pleasure.
33:10It's an honor.
33:11Yeah, it's an honor.
33:12Thank you so much.
33:13So you can change your clothes.
33:15All right.
33:16Okay.
33:17We need to move this one down a little bit.
33:20Wow.
33:21The size seems perfect.
33:23All right.
33:24Unbelievable.
33:25Never thought I'd see this all the way.
33:32I'm exhausted right now.
33:33I couldn't get it.
33:34I mean, what the ?
33:36I never thought I'd see this either.
33:38Mainly because I have no clue how I'm going to squeeze into this thing.
33:41Okay.
33:42Think cool thoughts.
33:44Cool thoughts.
33:46Let go to discover your beautiful bikes.
33:49I love it.
33:50Yeah.
33:51Okay.
33:52What color do you want, Norman?
33:53Take this sucker.
33:54Okay.
33:55I'll take this one.
33:56If you can dream it, you can do it.
34:14Enzo Ferrari's famous words exemplify the ingenuity found throughout the Motor Valley.
34:19The passion for craftsmanship and performance you can feel navigating every turn.
34:29Italian innovation at its finest.
34:32Oh, wow.
34:33That was awesome.
34:34It was very good this type, eh?
34:35That test run was pretty awesome.
34:36But these are high powered speed demons.
34:37They can go from zero to 180 in the blink of an eye.
34:51So before we can push their limits, we've got to work on one little thing.
34:58How to stop.
34:59How to stop.
35:00Okay.
35:01Good.
35:02Go.
35:03Go.
35:04Okay.
35:05Wonderful.
35:06Go.
35:07Wonderful.
35:08It's easy to go fast.
35:09Yeah, I hurt my tone.
35:10It's the braking part that will get you.
35:11You hurt?
35:12I think.
35:13Hey, buddy.
35:14Hey, man.
35:15Are you okay?
35:16I am pissed.
35:17Dude, I'm sorry.
35:18So what, you hit the brakes?
35:19It's easy to go fast.
35:21Yeah, I hurt my tone.
35:23It's the braking part that will get you.
35:26You hurt?
35:27I think.
35:29Hey, buddy.
35:31Hey, man.
35:33Are you okay?
35:35I am pissed.
35:37Dude, I'm sorry. So what, you hit the brakes?
35:39I saw your back tire come up.
35:41It went up, and I panicked like a dummy
35:43and jammed my foot down.
35:45I think it's just a small fracture,
35:47but it's right in the knuckle,
35:49so I can't bend it.
35:51It's a little purple.
35:52Is it purple?
35:53Yeah.
35:54Purple's a pretty color.
35:55Are you going to the hospital or something?
35:57I'll be out in no time.
35:58All right, brother.
36:00We're gonna meet up with Josh in Bologna
36:02once some doctors have checked him out.
36:04Thanks so much, dude.
36:05Great pleasure.
36:06Thank you for teaching me some stuff.
36:07Yeah, you are a great rider.
36:09Keep pushing.
36:10All right, I'll be in the bathroom for 45 minutes
36:12taking this off.
36:15I hope he's okay.
36:17While Josh heads to the hospital,
36:20I'm off on a solo ride to our final destination,
36:23the capital city of Bologna.
36:26These are cool columns right here.
36:41That's a cool road.
36:42Wow, that's a crazy-looking tower up in front of us.
36:46Wow.
36:47That's so cool.
36:49Bologna is like, for me, it's a tiny Milan.
36:52Bologna is a hidden pearl, a little bit.
36:55Full of history.
36:56It's medieval, very historical.
36:59These colors, yellow and green and burnt orange.
37:04Bologna is the university.
37:07Everyone loves the idea to study in the most ancient university in the world.
37:13There's a tower that is called Torre degli Asinelli.
37:16Maybe.
37:17I don't know.
37:18So, go there and visit.
37:21It's not exactly how I pictured rolling into our final destination,
37:26without a co-rider.
37:27But Josh couldn't ride with his injured foot,
37:29so we're going to meet back up and visit some of his old hangouts.
37:32And I can already see why he loved it here.
37:35Look at this area right here.
37:36This is where Josh used to live.
37:38Yeah, this is crazy.
37:44Dude, what happened?
37:45You all right?
37:46Oh, .
37:47Yeah, I'm fine, man.
37:49It's okay.
37:51Did you...
37:53We didn't do the track.
37:55It doesn't matter, dude.
37:56It was a beautiful ride.
37:57Exactly.
37:58And we did do two laps on the track.
37:59Yeah.
38:00Let's go meet with Fred.
38:01Let's go meet Luca.
38:02Yeah, let's go, man.
38:03All right.
38:06Eccola!
38:07Charles, bro!
38:12Oh, my God.
38:13Oh, my God.
38:14Man.
38:15Man.
38:16That's one of my shame.
38:17I'm not letting all my...
38:18I was trying to be in there.
38:19Let me introduce you to my buddy.
38:21This is Norman, Luca.
38:23Nice to meet you.
38:24Nice to meet you.
38:25Unbelievable.
38:26Get together.
38:27I'm going to take a proper picture.
38:28One, two.
38:29One to the vote.
38:30Luca Moratori.
38:31Josh's lifelong friend.
38:33What?
38:34Oh!
38:35Of union years in the making.
38:37For the special ones, the true friends in life.
38:40Time is of no object.
38:42And 30 years can suddenly feel like yesterday.
38:45Tell me some stories about Josh back in the day.
38:49We...
38:50We walk around and get the big joints and smoke some...
38:55But it's...
38:58It's...
38:59It's...
39:00It's...
39:01It's...
39:02It's...
39:03It's strange, man.
39:04Mmm.
39:05I love Josh.
39:06It's great...
39:07Great...
39:08Friendship.
39:09We went to Greece together to...
39:11We spent a month in Mykonos.
39:12It was...
39:13Yes.
39:14You remember.
39:15The barco and the tequila.
39:17And...
39:18In the night, we take a small boat and one bottle of tequila.
39:23Yeah.
39:24And we go...
39:25Up on the sea.
39:26And then we go over that thing and...
39:28Que la...
39:29Como se dice?
39:30Donkey.
39:31Te recorde?
39:32Que la!
39:33And it reared up.
39:35Reminiscing brings connection.
39:37A renewed sense of belonging.
39:39And just being here a few minutes, I can already see the changes in my friend.
39:45We're gonna go...
39:47Uh...
39:48And see the...
39:49The place where I lived here.
39:50Sweet.
39:51And check that out.
39:52How far away is it?
39:53Five minutes to walk.
39:54Let's do it.
39:55Let's go.
39:57Oh, man.
39:58I can't believe this, man.
40:01I'm in Bologna.
40:02This is beautiful.
40:03Look at these streets, bro.
40:06This is incredible.
40:07Look at this.
40:09There's the feeling right now.
40:11Yeah, yeah.
40:12It's beautiful.
40:13Look at all these people.
40:19He just said Sawyer.
40:20Yes.
40:21Damn.
40:22Ah!
40:23This is the street.
40:24Yeah.
40:25Which color was it?
40:27The door was green.
40:28Oh, man.
40:29Is this all making sense to you?
40:30Yes.
40:31Oh, I've got so many memories, bro, going through me right now.
40:35One, two, one, two, three, four.
40:37Oh, my hair.
40:38Oh, my hair.
40:39Wow.

41:16Kind of like those old church doors back in Milan.
41:18While others come from a much more personal experience.
41:21This is the door.
41:23Incredible.
41:2430 years ago.
41:2530 years ago I live here.

42:28Incredible place.
42:29Incredible.
42:30I know, I know.
42:31It's magic.
42:32When you're young, anything seems possible.
42:34But it's a belief that fades with time.
42:36All the way, Holloway.
42:37All the way, Holloway.
42:38But sometimes, just a visit from the past can take you right back to those carefree days
42:43and help you rediscover the person you were meant to be.
42:47My brother.
42:48I love you.
