Police and the community gathered at St Patrick's Catholic Church on Monday, September 29, for the annual police remembrance Day.

00:00We are here today to remember the men and women who stepped forward to protect, to serve and to uphold the law.
00:16But behind every name is another story.
00:19The great ones left behind, the husbands and wives, sons and daughters, mothers and mothers,
00:25of friends, colleagues and communities who carry the weight in their absence.
00:31To those who have lost someone who has served, we mourn with you, we stand beside you.
00:36To the weary and increases the power of the weak, even you grow tired and weary.
00:42Today is one of the most important events on the New South Wales Police calendar.
00:47It is a day where members of the New South Wales Police Force and the community
00:50to remember those police officers who have given their lives and of course their duties
00:54and their own sacrifice.
00:56For those who have lost their lives through illness or other circumstances,
00:59I would like to thank Father Popper for his prayers this morning.
01:04As this day, we pause to reflect upon the former.
01:08We ask this through Christ and colour upon the officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty,
01:15those who serve the community and communities throughout Australia.
01:18In this service today, we also ask for support of the police, the families
01:26and we're reminded of the duty of a huge police officer in serving the community in this role.
