00:00This week the bandit project reaches the finish line with a complete LS swap, OEM style exhaust,
00:25wheelwood brakes, and digital gauges that blend factory looks with new school power.
00:30Then we head under Vicks 66 Mustang for the big moment.
00:34The Holley LS swap finally fires up with an MSD ignition and sniper EFI system.
00:39With an Edelbrock ProFlow EFI and a full team of builders,
00:43we're giving back to a 911 survivor who deserves more than just horsepower.
00:48He deserves a dream car.
00:50And finally, at NHLU, Joe and Joey introduce their all-new V3 oil,
00:54a product designed to fight surface rust and protect vehicles for the long haul.
01:06The bandit project is in the home stretch, 99.5% complete and loaded with upgrades.
01:13From a full LS swap and pipes exhaust to wheelwood brakes and decoded digital gauges,
01:19this car is now factory fresh muscle with modern performance.
01:24Now, Julie, how many times have I said that the last 10% takes way longer than the first 90?
01:29Yeah, it happens a lot.
01:30Well, that's where we're at.
01:31That means that I'm going to be in a lot of pain because I have to go underneath the dashboard
01:34and install my American Powertrain complete hydraulic clutch pedal assembly.
01:38And I want to go ahead and get my factory hood scoop right where it needs to be so it looks factory fresh and still shakes when you hit the gas.
01:45I've got to hit the power steering stuff.
01:47Just a little bit of odds it ends.
01:48And at that point, we're going to be doing this, and hopefully it'll run today.
01:52All right, we've got the bandit pretty much done.
01:54It's about 99.5%.
01:57The pipes exhaust is installed.
01:59I like the fact that we decided to go with the OEM style.
02:02Now, there are two styles, one out the back, one down.
02:04I like that one better.
02:05Yeah, that exhaust really, you really did a great job putting that together.
02:09It looks perfect.
02:10It's a perfect fit underneath.
02:11Well, pipes really came through with that exhaust system.
02:13We did a good job building it.
02:15We did a good job adapting to the LS swap.
02:19Yep.
02:20And Ron's machining service, you've got to upgrade the rear end, guys.
02:23Anytime you're doing a swap like we're doing, you've got to upgrade the rear end.
02:26We've got stock OEM disc brakes, though.
02:28It is a WS6, right?
02:30It has 342 gears.
02:31We went to Ron's machining service, got the Elite brand, Torsen differential, along with 373 gears and 30 spline axles.
02:38Everything we need to do the full upgrade kit on this car, that's been done and completed.
02:42The rear summit racing springs and sway bar really complemented the handling capabilities of the car and makes it look a lot better under there.
02:50And we've got the clutch pedal in there from American Powertrain.
02:54We've got the bell housing kit.
02:55We've got everything we needed to put the TKX behind the LS swap.
02:58We've got it bled.
02:59Everything is good to go as far as that goes.
03:01And it bled pretty easily considering...
03:04No, it really did.
03:05That was probably...
03:06I've bled a lot of clutches with you.
03:07That was really, really quick, too.
03:13Now, going on the inside, we've got the Dakota Digital Instrument Cluster.
03:17That is nice.
03:17Yeah, that looks great.
03:18It doesn't take away from the authenticity of the vehicle, too.
03:24Anytime we're doing a horsepower upgrade, you've got to do the wheelwood brakes.
03:28Oh, yeah.
03:29We've got four piston wheelwood brakes in the back with 12.8-inch rotors.
03:32We've got the same 13-inch rotors up front with six piston wheelwood calipers.
03:36Huge complement to the braking power of this vehicle.
03:38Yeah, I was really shocked when we took the wheels off this car and saw that they actually had factory brakes.
03:44At least the rear ones were from the factory still from 1879.
03:49Yeah, but he did his due diligence and put a four piston wheelwood kit up front because he knows better.
03:53So, he's a smart guy.
03:58The BRP hot rod engine mounts that we use, along with the crossmember, they're right here in North Georgia.
04:04They do an awesome job with all the old school engine swaps, whether it's an LT or an LS.
04:09Check them out.
04:10They've got everything you need as far as A-body, B-body, everything.
04:14The Jody Dingle frontrunner system.
04:16Yeah, that's always really nice.
04:17Very nice.
04:17Very good quality.
04:18American-made.
04:19He's a veteran.
04:20He does a very good job.
04:21He's been doing this since 2006.
04:23He is the master, one of them at least, when it comes to LS swaps and classic American cars.
04:29The ProFlow EFI.
04:31Awesome.
04:31Edelbrock really knocks it out the park with that system.
04:34It works really well.
04:35Very easy to program.
04:37You can use it with your phone.
04:38Very nice system.
04:40The cold case cooling system, you've got to have that.
04:43Yeah, and I mean, it fits like a glove.
04:45It looks great.
04:46Three-row, a lot of cooling power, very efficient.
04:48Yeah, and it always just looks nice.
04:50I mean, you know, factory radiators don't look nice, and every time you put in, you know, a cold case, it really adds to, you know, under the hood.
04:59It really turned out nice.
05:00This Summit Racing Bandit project is a very cool project.
05:03I think Mark's going to really enjoy it.
05:05All we've got to do now is put some gas in this thing, and hopefully it'll run.
05:07It's not going to go home yet, but it's going to run.
05:10Sam's Garage is presented by NHOU.
05:20Brought to you by the following companies.
05:22Welcome back to Sam's Garage, presented by NH Oil Undercoding.
05:50Today's the day Vicks 66 Mustang wakes up with LS power.
06:01With an MSD ignition box, sniper EFI, and some final wiring, this project is ready to roar to life.
06:09Old school looks and modern muscle bring everything together.
06:13All right, so this is an exciting day, the day that Vicks 66 Holley LS project fires up.
06:21All we've got to do is install the MSD ignition box for an LS engine, and we should be good to go.
06:26I've got the radiator hoses complete, the heater hoses are installed, I've got to run my power on ground to the alternator, ground to the chassis for the engine block so the starter engages, and we should be good to go.
06:37As long as she does everything correctly, you should fire.
06:39Pretty cool.
06:41It's come a long way since these things first came out.
06:43What we have here is an LS series controller box.
06:46It's got the switch for you to tell it which engine you have, because this is good for both a 24 or a 58 tooth reluctor wheel.
06:54It's got a vacuum port in case you have to run boost, but it needs that reference for vacuum, because it's a speed density setup.
07:00We have the sub harness, one's for the ignition.
07:03It's got pretty long leads, but if you remember, I put my coal packs down there on the frame rails, and I have extension harnesses that come in the LS Classic kit.
07:12There you go, Sam.
07:13Thank you, Julie.
07:14All right, so these are the extension harnesses that come in the low car LS Classic kit.
07:18It's going to extend if I don't have enough room here to go down.
07:22We also have the crank position sensors and cam sensors.
07:26This is a pretty flawless, easy install.
07:48So this is really simple.
07:50One thing about MSD is that it's so reliable, it's been around for 100 years, and you just pretty much plug and play, and if you don't pull out the laptop, you're almost good to go, it's going to fire.
07:59And then you have to make sure whether you have a 58 tooth or a 24 tooth LS engine.
08:03I went to the sub harness, found the violet wire for me to hook up my TAC output for the MSD box to the sniper, went into the sniper, changed the settings inside there to my displacement, my camshaft, and what input I have, being a CD box in this case, going from a negative coil wire input.
08:24And it fires right up.
08:26So, let's hear it run.
08:28Ready?
08:29Yeah.
08:29Yeah.
08:33This thing turned out pretty good, okay?
08:46It's got a LS engine and a 1966 Mustang.
08:49Vic is not going to know the difference, and hopefully it'll fool him.
08:52I do have a little clearancing issues, but it's all been taken care of at the master cylinder, so we're good to go.
08:57This was the secret to saving our butt today.
09:05How many times have I shown you how to put pressure in the cooling system with nothing in it, just to make sure you have no leaks?
09:10Well, we found the crossover tube rusted behind this black.
09:15You wouldn't even be able to see it until you put coolant and it was pressurized.
09:17Change that out, and then the pet cock right here, the piece that tightens and loosens the actual pet cock itself is just rotating and it's not working at all.
09:27So, those are two big fines that would have cost us a big mess in coolant and a lot of money.
09:32We don't need that.
09:33We don't need that.
09:34We don't like messes.
09:34There's no reason to be a mess in mechanic out there.
09:36Okay, guys?
09:37I think we've had enough of those.
09:38Yeah.
09:39Especially with the foil that came out.
09:40All right.
09:41This is all fully done.
09:42Now, the next thing we're going to do is button everything up, all the little knick-knack things.
09:45Like I said, the last 1% to 2% takes longer than the first 99%, but the good thing is that it runs and it's motivating to get it done, right?
09:52Yep.
09:52Sounds great.
09:53All right.
09:53Get it done.
09:53Let me know when you're ready.
10:05Rust is like cancer.
10:06In some ways, we're like a cancer research, right?
10:09And we're just trying to figure out, how do we slow it down?
10:12We ever get rid of it?
10:14No, but we can maybe put it into remission.
10:16So you get an extra 10, 15 years out of your vehicle.
10:20You can go on to my F-150, and I encourage you to take a little rag and wipe away the greasy spots around the frame.
10:26It's shiny black metal in most cases.
10:29So that's indicative of you being diligent with your service.
10:33And the way the wax works, whether we're using the hybrid, is it comes in, it's more money, it's an overnight process.
10:41Because you actually have to prep the vehicle, right?
10:43It's a lot harder to clean off than the oil.
10:45So, you know, we're wrapping the exhaust system, the drive shaft.
10:49That will spin out of balance with the wax, unlike the oil, right?
10:52And then we hang paper to keep it from getting on the outside.
10:55We spray it, and we finish it up the next day.
10:58And then they come back every two years for a touch-up.
11:01So every two years, we re-oil all the cavities.
11:05And then we look the wax over for, you know, scratches, stuff on moving components.
11:10And we continuously touch those up every two years.
11:15Welcome back to more Sam's Garage, presented by NHOU.
11:22We're back on Torrey's Camaro, and this time, it's personal.
11:31With Edelbrock ProFlow EFI, a full rebuild, and a team of friends and builders,
11:36this car is becoming the dream he never got.
11:39From 911 Survivor to show-stopping revival, this one's special.
11:46All right, so we got Torrey DeBlasi's 92 Camaro back in the shop.
11:49The last time we worked on this, we put an EFI on it.
11:51But I'm going to go with the Edelbrock ProFlow EFI.
11:54That way he can tune it himself when he's at home.
11:56They do an awesome job of making these cars look old school and run new school.
12:01So, first thing we're going to do is yank everything off and install the new Edelbrock.
12:05What we're doing with Torrey's car is, there was a show where he was promised a Camaro.
12:10They built him a car, and he never received that car.
12:13And so, Michael Brianza came up to me and said, you know what, Sam, let's do something for Torrey.
12:19I'd like to showcase that car.
12:20I said, well, Mike, you never got that car.
12:21I said, but I do have his personal car here.
12:24So, we're going to take this car, we're going to build it up.
12:26With the help of Michael Brianza, we're going to send it off to Frank and Michelle Angerman.
12:30And they are a wife-husband team who do body work.
12:33So, after Frank and Michelle are done with their part,
12:35we're going to send it off to Gil and Linda at Gil and Custom Designs.
12:38And he's going to do the whole interior for Torrey.
12:41We all feel bad for what's going on, so we want to do something nice for Torrey.
12:45He was a first responder at 2001-911.
12:49He is a survivor, so we want to give back to him.
12:54All right, guys, you see what we pulled out?
12:57Giant harness.
12:58This is to run a GM controller.
13:00It's giant.
13:01You wonder why we charge so much to hide this stuff.
13:06We've got our Edelbrock Pro Pro EFI.
13:08This is for an LS3 with rectangular ports.
13:11It comes with a very nice compact harness.
13:14And then, depending on whether you have a 24-tooth or a 58-tooth,
13:18you'll have to buy the sub-harness for the crank sensor and the cam sensor.
13:22What you want to do before you install everything is make sure that this is going to work for you.
13:25All the caps that you need plugged off as far as vacuum goes is plugged off.
13:30The metal plugs is already installed by Edelbrock.
13:33So, all I'm going to do now is flip this thing over.
13:35We're going to install the O-rings.
13:37And it's very important that once you guys install these O-rings,
13:39before you put them on the vehicle, put a little bit of grease around the ports on the heads
13:44so that when you go to slide it, these guys won't roll out of their places.
13:48Now, the feed line for the fuel is going to be over here at passenger front.
13:52My feed line is going to be back here.
13:54So, I'm going to swap this over to the front.
13:56I don't have to remove the rails.
13:57I just have to remove the ends on both sides and swap from front to rear.
14:00Alright, so what we did was ran the power and ground wire to the alternator using it as a junction
14:18because on this particular car there is a power wire that goes across the course report
14:21because the battery is on the passenger side.
14:23And so the alternator is on the driver's side.
14:25So, I've got that connected.
14:26I've got my wire for the Edelbrock Pro Flow connected to the alternator.
14:31Another cool thing with the Edelbrock is, like I said, you can do all the functions with your cell phone
14:35so you don't need an extra handheld.
14:36There is no wire going in and out of the car.
14:38So, it's important.
14:39That's what makes Edelbrock so nice.
14:40It's nice and easy.
14:41This is what GM uses in all their crate engines forever.
14:45Used to be fast fuel air spark technology.
14:48Edelbrock took him over.
14:52Looks like we're complete.
14:54It will not run today.
14:55It probably won't run for a year.
14:57But, Tori, I'm telling you, you've got one coming.
15:00And Mike Brionza is going to be heading the whole project because it's he who brought it up to me.
15:06And it's going to be at Carlisle in 2026 when we're going to reveal this project during the GM show.
15:11Yeah, it's going to be great.
15:13Yeah, Tori's going to love this.
15:14This Edelbrock system is really nice and it's easy to use.
15:16And like you said, I mean, the bonus of being able to do it yourself on your cell phone
15:20instead of having to call you all the time and say, hey, Sam, I need you to do this for me.
15:25It gets expensive.
15:30Sam's Garage is presented by NH Oil Undercoding.
15:35It's brought to you by the following companies.
15:41Welcome back to Sam's Garage presented by NHOU.
15:59Vehicles cost more than ever and rust waits for no one.
16:11At NHOU, Joe and Joey are unveiling their new V3 oil, a cutting-edge formula designed to fight surface rust,
16:19creep deep into seams, and keep your investments safe.
16:23Protection built for today's roads.
16:24You guys, today vehicles have gotten double the price, sometimes triple the price,
16:29and we want to protect that investment and make sure that vehicle can last as long as possible on the road.
16:34And that's where NHOU comes in.
16:36We have a completely new product.
16:37What's it called?
16:37It's NHOU boss wax hybrid, okay?
16:41Because we're in the industry, not just to develop products and sell products, but we consume the products,
16:47we see the vehicles coming in on a regular basis.
16:49A big problem right now is brand new, off-the-showroom floor vehicles come in with surface rust,
16:55but stuff that you shouldn't see on the undercarriage of a vehicle.
16:58And that's the beginning, right?
16:59That's the beginning.
17:00And so people say they want to use our box wax, great.
17:04Boss wax really isn't designed to grow the rust.
17:07And so we're happy to remove this rust and, you know, play games and whatever, you know, to get the surface the way we need it.
17:13So what we did was we said, okay, how can we mitigate that rust and still offer them the warranty?
17:19And so what we've done is we've made a product.
17:21This is the product after six months.
17:24This is a product that's solidified.
17:27It creeped up to two inches.
17:28That actually is going to mitigate surface rust.
17:32And it takes about three months before it solidifies and sails, and you're not worried about encapsulation.
17:43You have individuals that have a vehicle that's a few years old, got very mild surface rust,
17:49but they're not a candidate for our traditional boss wax because there's zero penetration and zero creeping.
17:55So with this product, you address that by having the oil in it to soak into the rust first before the wax solidifies on the surface and cures.
18:05And the boss wax originally you would have put on a new vehicle where it's completely clean, and that's what you put on,
18:11and you service it rust-free, and you service it how often?
18:14Every two years.
18:15Yeah, you come in every two years.
18:16Basically, it's a lifetime warranty on the barrier.
18:20So you come in, you have a breach in the surface, we touch it up, no problem.
18:23We re-oil the body cavities.
18:25It takes about 45 minutes, half hour, 45 minutes.
18:28So coming back in and having a maintenance program is as important as a good product.
18:33Maintenance is always more important.
18:35It's going to cost less in the long run.
18:36People think maintenance costs money, but it doesn't because once a good tragedy occurs, it's ten times more money.
18:41So it's very important that you guys do maintenance.
18:43Yep.
18:43That's what we're all about.
18:45No magic bullet, one and done.
18:52When you guys apply the wax, do you use a standard oil in the cavities, or do you use the wax?
18:57We use a regular oil in the cavities.
19:00That's the finish, too, by the way.
19:01So that allows you to go through a car wash, dry to the touch, no collection of dirt and dust,
19:07which is what, when people come in with new vehicles, they kind of lean away from the oil a little bit
19:11because they don't want a dirty, dusty, greasy undercarriage.
19:15But that's a nice clean.
19:16You can go through car washes if you feel it's necessary, and it's dry to the touch.
19:21And then oil in the body cavities because that's actually where you can't see,
19:25and the oil is going to creep seven, eight, nine inches,
19:28and you want to penetrate into the seams, spot welds, and the folds.
19:32And the rocker panel, you can't see it, so you've got to spray oil.
19:34You know, when you think about it, the maintenance is pennies to the dollar compared to replacing it
19:38and the investment money that you lose.
19:40Cheap insurance.
19:40Very important.
19:41So what we're going to do next week is we're going to show you two Ford trucks,
19:44one being a 2012 that has been coated and protected, belongs to Joe himself,
19:48one being a 2013, both Fords.
19:50And the 2013 may appear to be perfectly fine on the outside,
19:53but when you look up underneath, it is completely done for.
19:56So join us next week when we come back to NHLU and show you further
19:59how you guys can protect your investment.
20:01Be sure to check out Sam's Garage on these other media platforms.
