00:00Protesters filled the streets of Mexico City on Friday to mark the 11th anniversary of the
00:09disappearance and presumed murder of 43 students from the Ayotzinapa Rural Teachers College.
00:16Led by victims' families and current Ayotzinapa students, the march began at the Angel of
00:21Independence and ended at the Zocalo Main Square, with demonstrators demanding justice,
00:26accountability and transparency from the government.
00:56The students vanished in 2014, after more than 100 students and teachers were attacked while traveling to Mexico City to commemorate the 1968 student massacre.
01:19According to two separate international investigations, including one by the Organization of American States OAS,
01:2643 students were kidnapped by organized crime groups working with local police.
01:31The motive remains unclear.
01:33Initial investigations under former President Enrique Peña Nieto concluded that corrupt police, believing the group had been infiltrated by a rival cartel,
01:43handed the students over to a gang that allegedly killed them and burned their bodies.
01:49Family members have long accused Mexican authorities, including the military, of complicity in the students' disappearance.
01:56President Scheinbaum said on Wednesday that the work of a special investigation unit and ongoing meetings with parents could lead to new arrests in the coming days.
