00:00Imagine if one collision in space could trap humanity on Earth forever.
00:07We're closer to this nightmare than you think.
00:12Right now as I speak, there are over 7,000 active satellites
00:18and 140 million pieces of space junk orbiting our planet.
00:24Companies like SpaceX are launching hundreds more every single month.
00:31Scientists call this the Kessler syndrome,
00:35where one collision creates a deadly chain reaction,
00:39turning our orbital highways into permanent junkyards.
00:45The worst part is the laws governing space were written in 1967
00:51before anyone imagined thousands of private satellites.
00:57What we need right now, urgently,
01:00is new laws and cleanup missions
01:03before we lock ourselves out of space forever.
01:07The clock is ticking, my fellows.
